Weekly Self-Promotion Thread What have you made or worked on this week? | Weekly Thead

Welcome to our weekly self-promotion thread, where I encourage you to share your indie animated projects that you've made and worked on this week.

Maybe you've just released a new episode, or you're launching a Kickstarter* to fund your big project. Or maybe you've got some behind-the-scenes work you'd like to show off.

See you in the comments!

*If you share a Kickstarter or any other link, please make sure it's the full link, not a shortened one (for example, bit•ly or kck•st) because Reddit automatically filters those.

New Show Mandelbrot Hall has one of the best pilot episodes I've ever seen

Link to the pilot episode

I haven't seen nearly enough people talk about this show, so I'm making this post to draw more attention to it. Been following this project for a while now, and now that's it finally come to fruition I'm happy to say that this first episode is extremely effective at presenting its characters and general premise while keeping you engaged at all times... It's a fun mix of Backrooms-esque/liminal space ideas, supernatural/psychological horror and casual college vibes, animation is really stellar, feels like the building itself is constantly changing shape, morphing in and out of different states, and there's some cool stop motion stuff in there as well...

Please please please go support this and tell as many people about it as possible, because I absolutely believe this deserves to be the next big thing (or at the very least that it should be expanded into a full blown show)

Discussion CatsForSpace. Why do the lines look blended together?

• Upvotes

For some reason, my animation have lines that looks blended together, I tried to fix this in postprocessing. But it didn't help.

Also how I do animation has changed, listening to Mario music while making these, so that might be causing the rashness.

I prepare the animation before the last one is finished, then after the last one, I do this one, then prepare the future one. So that would be how. And NOOO! I forgot the eyes!

I Made This!

Discussion AMA with Heather Parra, creator of Talon and the Champions of Saurithia

Hi, my name is Heather Parra and I am the creator of indie animated series Talon and the Champions of Saurithia.

We're currently in our final 3 days of our Kickstarter to raise funds for our 2nd episode. Since we're in the finale of our campaign, I wanted to come on here to answer any questions about our next episode.

If you enjoy dinosaur content, sci-fi/fantasy, or indie animation (!), please considering backing us here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/worldoftalon/talon-and-the-champions-of-saurithia-episode-2

Talon and the Champions of Saurithia is a sci-fi/ fantasy indie animated epic series set in the late Cretaceous period, following Talon, a courageous young Dakotaraptor born with magical elemental powers she at first didn’t understand. Alongside her friend Kota, Talon must find the eight other dinosaur Champions - embarking on a journey that will transform the prehistoric world and save the universe from a dark fate.

Now, onto the questions. Ask away!

I Made This! Spaceship vs. Spacesheep: A Typo That Became an Animation!

It all started when I tried to write Spaceship. Since English isn't my native language, I thought Spacesheep was how you spelled it. 😂 That little discovery made me smile, and then an idea hit me that completely changed the direction of the short film I had in mind.

And that's how this little sheep was born… along with its rather controversial destiny! A real plot twist. Here's the result: a short 2D cartoon animation, entirely drawn and animated in Arttista, my indie drawing and animation software.

One thing I'm still not entirely sure about: maybe there are a few too many pauses between the characters' reactions at the beginning. Or maybe that's just my perception after animating and watching the same scenes over and over again!

I hope you enjoy it!
