🚨 Indiana: Why Is Our City Council Discussing How to Defend a City Official Against PROFITEERING Claims? WATCH THIS. Councilman or middleman?
I'm going to let this 60-second video speak for itself. But every taxpayer invIndiana, should be paying attention.
During a public City Council meeting, an official explains how approving and filing a conflict-of-interest disclosure can serve as a legal defense if someone brings an action against Jeremy VanErman for "profiteering."
Yes. They actually use the word PROFITEERING.
Think about that.
We're talking about PUBLIC MONEY. PUBLIC CONTRACTS. PUBLIC OFFICIALS.
And here we have a discussion about how conflict-of-interest paperwork could defend an official against accusations of personally profiting.
Here are the questions Alexandria taxpayers deserve answered:
- What specific financial interests or transactions required these conflict-of-interest disclosures?
- How much taxpayer money was involved, and who ultimately received it?
- Where are the underlying contracts, payments, disclosures, and meeting records? How much commission was made?
- Why shouldn't every one of these arrangements receive independent public scrutiny?
Let's be absolutely clear: This video alone does not prove criminal wrongdoing. And properly completed disclosures can have legal significance.
But filing a conflict-of-interest form does not make legitimate questions about public spending disappear. Nor does it defend against something that ALREAD took place.
A CONFLICT-OF-INTEREST DISCLOSURE IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY.
If everything is legitimate, publish the records, explain the financial relationships, and let the taxpayers examine them.
If something is improper, the people deserve to know.
Alexandria residents are paying higher utility bills while serious questions remain about how their government operates.
PUBLIC OFFICE SHOULD NEVER BECOME A PRIVATE PROFIT CENTER.
🎥 Watch the video. Listen to the actual words. Then ask yourself:
IS ALEXANDRIA CITY HALL PROTECTING THE PUBLIC INTEREST OR PROTECTING THE PEOPLE BENEFITING FROM PUBLIC MONEY?
The records, not political assurances, should answer that question.

If you are in Southern Indiana, particularly near New Albany/Jeffersonville, PLEASE VOTE
Obviously everyone should vote, but the state senate race in District 45 is an important one.
Chris Garten, the current incumbent, is poised to become president pro tempore of the Senate and is an AVID supporter of redistricting. He is bringing his agenda straight from the current presidential administration and plans to force redistricting through.
BUT, he has an opponent in the race, Nick Marshall.
May primary results show that the difference between Marshall's primary votes and Garten's primary votes were less than 100.
Please show up. You never know what could happen.

Braun & Question 1
His only example is “did it involve drugs, alcohol or and act of violence”?!
First off, conflating drug or alcohol use with violence is interesting.
2nd, for what you are having us vote on, this is the limpest of statements I’ve ever seen.
Vote NO on Question 1

Beware Wyndham and Baymont hotel in Lawrenceburg Indiana.
If you have a reservation for this hotel you need to cancel it now. It's no longer the Baymont. It is now called the Express Inn
I just got screwed out of points and money from this hotel. I had made my reservation through the Wyndham app for 4 nights and I used points also so the total came out to be $249 and 12000 points.
When I got here, the front desk told me that they are no longer under Wyndham and I had to pay an extra $50 because they wouldn't take my price for the original reservation. I got to my room and contacted customer service and Wyndham rewards tons me they can't give me my points back.
I'm beyond pissed and I don't know if I should just check out and go somewhere else or just eat the reservation...

Is the average Hoosier just better at basketball?
I swear when I’ve been out of state the competition in a pick up game is nothing compared to Indy/Indiana. Some people get mystified because you can shoot a little and hit a floater or teardrop…I genuinely think the average Hoosier is just better due to the exposure to basketball.

Ask a Hoosier I70 Speeding Camera
I was driving to work on I70 (near greenfield I think, heading to Indy) at like 2:20AM and was coming up on one of the areas where they split the traffic. I was going 71mph cause I hadn’t actually reached the area, there were pylons, but the actual split was about another mile up. Once I got to where the split occurs, I slowed to 56mph. But I’m pretty sure a camera flashed when I was goin the initial 71. My question is how can you get flagged before you’ve reached the worksite, and when they’re not working?

Country two stepping
Live in Fort Wayne-willing to go to Indy for this
Are there any country dance halls in or around Indy that do ACTUAL two-stepping (not line dancing). I don't necessarily mean that they have a dedicated country two step night, but that the environment encourages two step dancers. Fort Wayne is alllll line dancing.
I just want to go somewhere on a Saturday night with the space to two step

Looking for local artist to commission
Hello! It’s pretty much like the title says, i’m looking for a local artist to commission for a portrait. It’s for my Dad as a Christmas gift, and id prefer to get it done locally. I’m unsure where to start looking though, does anyone have any tips or artists that do portrait?
Thank you in advance!

Perinatal Psychiatrist | Indiana
Anyone had a good experience with a perinatal psychiatrist anywhere in Indiana that is evidence based and supportive of mom’s mental health / helps with medication management? I previously was looking into supportive OB’s in Indiana, but I think a perinatal psychiatrist is the better route to go after during further research. Any recommendations would be great.
I honestly don’t care what part of Indiana as I am centrally located, so it’s best I see someone who knows their stuff, and that is not always offered in the same place I am located. (:

Indiana considering 6 GW Candu nuclear project
What are your thoughts on this? On the one hand, new large scale nuclear power plants take so long to build and are super expensive.
But on the other hand, a plant on par with Bruce or Darlington in Lake County would provide massive revitalization to that area - hundreds of millions in annual property tax revenue, huge multiplier effect of thousands of high wage jobs.
Indiana still uses a ton of coal for electricity, and we don’t have great resources for hydroelectric, wind or solar.
