Warning: Spammers contacting users via DM

Hello everybody, I've recently been notified that spam accounts have been messaging users who post here to try to get them to sign up to their "health programme"; namely one with the initials G W ( I don't want to help their SEO metrics by posting the name)

These people are preying on the vulnerable and the desperate to try to make a quick buck.

As they are only using DMs and not posting here, I do not have much power to stop them. So please, if you receive one of these messages, report the message via the flag icon next to it, so that the Reddit admins will hopefully ban their accounts.

Thank you

Does anyone here suffer or suffered from a lump in the throat feeling (globus/dysphagia/reflux)?

Just wanting to understand if my symptoms are relevant to this condition…

I have methane sibo
Silent reflux
Globus
Food sensitivities (sulphites and aged food cause extreme flushing even as a child)
Asthma
Brain fog and fatigue that has never been medically explained but correlates to what I eat
But finding supplementing DAO plus at 1,000,000 units and taking copper supplement is working better than omeprazole or Pepcid ever did…
Any thoughts please share - feel free to share your experiences

Can anyone relate to extreme crashes after mental, physical, or emotional exertion?

I’m trying to understand what’s happening to my body.

After years of stress, I’ve done a lot of healing and I’m in a much better place emotionally. But physically, I’m still struggling.
Even the smallest things can trigger a crash:
Physical: Basic housework, walking, exercise, heat, cold or direct sunlight.
Mental: Reading, writing, painting or concentrating for a little while.
Emotional/social: Talking to people, hosting family, socialising, or even watching TV.

And have regular digestive issues from bloating to burping to gas to acidity to acid reflux etc

I suddenly become overwhelmingly fatigued, sometimes experiencing intense sleep attacks where I need to lie down immediately. The harder the activity, the worse the crash.

Sometimes it escalates into a severe, predominantly left-sided migraine around my eye, head and face, accompanied by facial and mouth drooping and numbness. It can be frightening.

Most of my routine blood tests and vital signs have come back normal, yet this is affecting my everyday life so much.

Could this involve nervous system dysregulation after prolonged stress, ME/CFS, hormonal changes , migraine, or something else entirely? Could several things be happening together?

And if it is what do you do about it ? Neurologist ? I have been to many doctors over the past two years and they keep dismissing me but the symptoms keep on getting worse .

And I’ve done all sorts of things from nervous system regulation to breathing to less stress to therapy to good nutrition etc etc I still believe this is something physical ?

Has anyone experienced something similar and discovered what was actually causing it? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences.

Anybody else just not eating to avoid reactions?

• Upvotes

Been on a journey to figure out wtf is going on with my body for the last 3 years since I got COVID/mono the same summer. Extreme environmental allergies to the point where I've had to move apartments several times because the apartment was making me sick, dizzy and lightheaded for hours after eating many foods, insomnia, congestion after eating, etc. No answers from doctors

I got real sick and was bed ridden for about a month so I cold turkey had quit eating and regular routine, magically started feeling way better. This got me thinking and I've figured out at least the following over the last month:

- Milk and whey was making me very sick. As soon as I have a cup of milk or a scoop of whey, my symptoms return. I would have 2-3 cups of milk and 4+ scoops of whey daily, so I bet this was really fucking me up

- Eggs make me sick, which I have for breakfast every morning

- Oat milk and oats were giving me insane acne so I had to drop that after switching from milk

- Carbs are ok mostly ok, including cakes I bake at home (so eggs, dairy in them I don't react to)

- I think cheddar cheese makes me sick, but cooked provolone cheese (provoleta) doesn't?

- Ive done the at home baking soda stomach acid 3x times and have not burned at all. This could be the smoking gun, going to try testing with Betaine HCL to see how I react

My diet at this point mostly homecooked meats (burgers, chicken, grilled steak) and salad, which I seem to be doing ok with, but is exhausting sometimes because I just want to throw eggs on the stove. I don't know what to eat for breakfast so I just skip it. I had a milkshake last night forgetting about my dairy issue and I was incredibly dizzy all night long, woke up feeling ok.

Anybody in a similar boat trying to redesign their diet?

How do you stay hopeful?

I’ve come a long way since treating all my health conditions over the past 5 years but lately I’ve been feeling pretty hopeless about it all, I just want to feel health again and not worry that I will never live a normal life again…
I’m on so much medication just to calm my immune system, it gets me down that I’ve not resolved the reactions and I’m still only able to eat limited foods.

A question about carrots and cucumbers

Sometimes I could tolerate these; sometimes I could not. When I couldn't, I noticed that the orange carrot had green pigmentation near the circular core when cut into disc shaped form. Something similar happened with the cucumber, where there was extra green pigmentation between the surface and the core. The carrot turns green if it's exposed to sunlight but what I'm asking is why this resulted in the typical around the body skin tingling within minutes after consumption?

Summary: Most sites list carrots and cucumbers as safe for people with histamine intolerance. Why have I Iearned to avoid them?

Vitamin D3 has been a game changer.

I accidentally discovered this while going to the beach and sun bathing. My histamine intolerance symptoms basically completely ceased to the point I thought I was cured and I could mow the lawn without breaking into hives. I assumed my issue simply was low vitamin D3.

I unfortunately tried to celebrate and had a few beers and that again triggered my symptoms.

I think higher D3 levels make histamine intolerance symptoms less severe as vitamin D3 is a natural anti-inflammatory.

UK frozen fish and un-aged meat recommendations (for iron and B12)

Hi all - I'm in need of food-based sources of iron and B12, but finding frozen fish that doesn't trigger symptoms is proving very difficult. Un-aged red meat also seems to be a rarity in the UK.

Just looking for tips on where to look for frozen-at-sea fish and un-aged red meat. I'm aware some fishmongers and speciality online butchers stock these things, but I have a tiny kitchen with a tiny freezer - I can't be buying vast quantities in one go and they always seem to have huge minimum orders.

(Alternatively, whole food supplements you get on with that contain similar ingredients would be something I'd be open to.)

Thanks :)

Antibiotics

I was prescribed antibiotics for a suspected uti reluctantly took them and explained this to the doctor who I told all my issues started with antibiotics!! I understand sometimes they are needed but with histamine & digestive issues I don’t want to take them unnecessarily!! What’s the best way to take antibiotics and salvage your gut at the same time. Also what are the best probiotics to take during and after antibiotic use for histamine & IBS? I used to be able to tolerate soil based probiotics antrantil pro specifically but haven’t taken this in ages. Obviously the doctor is oblivious to anything histamine so I’m having to do my own research.

Does leftover chicken/grocery store precooked rotisserie chicken affect anyone much worse than other things?

Any time I’ve had leftover chicken I have severe symptoms and it feels like my whole body is inflamed and I feel like it also affects me neurologically like I will stutter my words and misspeak and have massive anxiety. Nothing else causes this. Eating the grocery store rotisserie chickens that sit under the heat lamp also causes this. It takes days to go away. I can eat freshly cooked chicken and be completely fine but the minute leftover chicken hits my stomach I experience horrible symptoms.

Stale herbal tea or micro-mould? Itchies flare-up

I got a flareup of histamine itchies yesterday evening. It came up so quickly. Returned from a trip, was just tired and didn't think, grabbed my tea mug that was still half full with tea and a tea bag for 5 days, poured out the tea, put new water in and a new tea bag (yeah, I know!). Cue itching from hell.

The stale tea was a Yogi Tea, with likely cinnamon, ginger, liquorice root and various herbs and plants. The new one my go-to simple bagged green tea. Both are always fine under normal conditions. I wonder whether there's anything in the herbal tea that releases or otherwise triggers histamine if standing about for too long. I didn't see mould, but would not exclude it. Don't judge, I was tired and about to go to bed. DAO took care of it in the end, though I still need some today.

What are your weird histamine symtoms?

Just wanted to hear about odd symptoms you've experienced which you later found to be histamine related. Mine are strange facial twitching, terrible anxiety, palpitations, flushing, tachycardia... Took years to link these with HI.

Any anecdotes appreciated :)

Need Advice Urgently

This is my first time posting here as my symproms have started recently and pretty quickly gotten bad. I have an allergist appointment to rule out genuine food allergies but its over a week out and in the meantime every meal has me in crippling fear of worse symptoms or even death considering how mine affect my mouth and throat and Ive stopped eating unless my bldy screams at me qhich is not a good thing considering my history. Im unwilling to try new foods despite needing to because everything I have tried so far have caused symptoms even if they are supposedly low histamine.

I suspect my vitamin d deficiency is playing a big part in this but I am at an utter loss of what to do as I have quite a few factors playing into it. I have severe paws/pws and kindling so supplements are already hard bur I am forced to consider them since I literally cant get enough or any vitamin d otherwise.

No onto my question because I genuinely need help so bad and have nowhere to turn and am being gaslit irl by my family who straught up dont believe that this is happening and they are my only support system. We have a d3 + k2 supplement (sports research beand I think) I used to take daily for a couple months and tolerated it alright for a whilw, but now I am very qorried as it is a softgel and I have issues with esophageal spasms swallowing things like that. It also has coconut oil (been reacting to unsweetened coconut flakes and have cut them out of my diet due to severity of it) and the k2 is derived from chickpeas which can be a histamine trigger and a pretty bad one at that from what Ive gleaned in my research. Addirionally its like over 600% the daily value and I need to taper onto things with my nervous system like this, but at the same time I am desperate to be able to eat again and not feel like or fear Im dying every time I do no matter what I eat.

So please, any and all advice and feedback is helpful, I am scared and desperate. Please. And thank you for taking the time to read this.

Advice

So been on ketotifen for almost two weeks for insomnia from histamine intolerance and itching and other symptoms , ketotifen makes me completely exhausted but I’m still wired and I can’t go to bed because of the hyperarousal and tremors. Thinking of getting off it since I’m still going hours without sleep and it interacts with sleep meds. Any similar experience?

Pickled foods

I don't know much about histamine intolerance but some googling has suggested that it could be the cause for a funny reaction I have been having recently to pickled red onions and pickled red cabbage.

I love these foods but I've found over the last few months that within 15 mins to 30 mins of eating them (particularly the pickled red onion which is very sour/acidic) I'll develop a red itchy face and some raised bumps/hives that look like an allergic reaction.

It will then go away on its own within another 15 minutes or so, I haven't ever needed to take an antihistamine or anything.

This will happen if I eat any more than a teaspoon or so of these foods.

Does this sound like a histamine reaction? And it is due to the vinegar that they are pickled in? I can eat red onion and red cabbage raw no issues so I don't think it's an allergy to those, it is only when I eat the jarred pickled kind (which I absolutely love 😭😭).

My understanding is that these aren't dangerous reactions so if I'm prepared to tolerate a bit of itching, it's not likely to do any long term harm/become serious if I continue eating these?

For those that are extremely sensitive, low tyramine migraine prone. don’t have access to an instapot or ability to get one. What’s the best way to cook meat? Boil?

Hello,

I’m extremely sensitive even on low bucket after my most recent infections, set back with ilnesses and necessary IV antibtiocs for GI infections.

Unfortunately, I can’t use an instapot right now for issues with our electric.

I’m down to just potatoes I can tolerate and need to expand that.

what’s the lowest histamine way to cook chicken and meat? Should I boil it? How so? Or should I put it in the oven? What works for everyone whose extremely sensitive

I can’t continue to deal with these severe migraines and severe system wide issues

Please don’t recommend mast cell stabilizers I have tried and have many conflicts or severe reactions.

Have tried DAO and many supplements as well

Anyone tried aged beef + NaturDao?

Curious if NaturDao, even more than 1 pill is enough to withstand the brute force of an aged beef stake.

H1 and H2 meds causing dryness?

Hi all! I have been taking Allegra and 80mg of famotidine daily for my histamine/possible mast cell issues as instructed by my allergist. It’s done wonders for my histamine intolerance, but one thing that’s been a major issue has been dryness everywhere. Ever since I started taking it my skin, my hair, my digestive tract, have all shown signs of extreme dryness. It’s so bad to the point my allergist tested me for Sjorgen’s due to seeing how much dead skin was noticeable on my clothes despite moisturizing daily (it came back negative). I’m constipated all the time, my hair is breaking off extremely bad and is constantly dry no matter what shampoo and conditioner I use or any masks (plus a lot of the scents trigger my histamine issues), there’s always dead skin on me, and my eyes stay slightly irritated 24/7. My allergist doesn’t think it’s my medications, so I’m not really getting any help, but per the timeline of this all happening that’s the only thing that has changed in my routine. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how did you help it/treat it? Thank you all for reading and any advice!

What were you doing before you started developing symptoms?

Hi there, I am trying to wrap my mind around what couldve caused my HI.

I firmly believe that the root cause of my HI is gut health.

However, the months before my symptoms started, I was living the healthiest lifestyle of my life.

I was exercising 2-3x a week, I was eating lots of legumes and protein, drinking green tea and eating saukerkraut on a regular basis.

I even lost about 10kg of weight (intentionally).

And then my symptoms started.

The one thing I can think of is that the lifestyle caused a change in the system and something went wrong but I am really unsure if thats even possible.

If I was eating / living in a way that was terrible for gut health I wouldnt be puzzled, but I wasnt.

So I wonder what other peoples stories are, and whether someone has a hypothesis about mine.

Thank you.

Am I suffering from this from nervous system dysfunction?

My story with gastritis /LPR / histamine issues can anyone relate? Could my nervous system be the culprit? Could the lining of small intestine heal this be a solution?

Past 4 years I got the gastritis symptoms and Laryngael reflux (LPR) past 5 years and histamine issues

My histamine issues are nasal congestion when eating fermented foods for example or high histamine foods. Also sleep issues

But I remember years previously I felt super stressed and unhappy with my life. For some reason my sleep has gotten bad. I would always wake up 3 hours in sleep and I did notice I would fall asleep and still end up with 7 hours slept. But I noticed the sleep was getting worse I would wake up 2-3 hours in sleep and then unable to fall asleep again

I was also dealing with injuries that prevented me sleeping. For example I had a wrist injury that was causing pain during sleep. So I think I developed anxiety and poor sleep from stress/injuries

This eventually lead to something happening to me. When I ate really spicy food, I ended up getting dizzy and vertigo symptoms during the meal. I was having extreme panic attacks and worried about my health next few months because I had no idea why that happened

I even had a very weird hyperacusis moments (extreme sensitivity to sound), my nervous system was fully shot. Hearing things like a fork on a plate gave me extreme panic because it seemed loud.

That eventually led to the gastritis/reflux diagnosis and I have been struggling ever since

In the early years of gastritis/LPR I have tested for h pylori through stool and blood test they both came out negative. I still wonder if my stool was false negative because I did have Diarhea twice when I took it

At my worst in 2023 I lost 20 pounds. I could barely put food down my stomach was very irritated. I did some moments of Pepcid and PPI and it didn’t help much. I relied on alot of natural supplements like DGL.

What made me gain weight and heal: Nervous system regulation

For some reason when I went on vacation in 2024, my mind switched. I became happier, less anxious, less worrying about symptoms. I was eating airplane food while happy and I did end up getting super gassy after the flight but still I felt good in general

First week of vacation was miserable I’m assuming the stress made my throat symptoms and stomach symptoms worse. 2-3 weeks in the vacation, I even noticed my LPR throat symptoms vanished completely. My voice returned, I sounded normal and not strained. Also I was living in an Airbnb no carpet apartment so I wonder if that was helping my allergies and what not

4 week vacation I noticed I gained 12-13 healthy pounds back. I was eating normal food there I wasn’t eating super healthy. I think I was just happier in my life and my digestion was finally working and maybe the stomach lining was healing?

Anyways back to 2025 I came back home and I noticed my symptoms were coming back like the voice hoarseness from silent reflux, the indigestion, ect. For some reason at my home I feel unhappy because people around me are always arguing. I remember moments in the past where I would leave the house completely after hearing them argue. Is this a sign my nervous system is not tolerating the environment?

2026 I took a PPI for 2 months 40 mg to help heal my “voice”. I went to the voice specialized ENT and he said he doesn’t see any signs of reflux. Even though I still had the strained voice and voice pain. He said my vocal cords looked healthy. After he told me that my voice pain instantly went away. Is this another nervous system sensitivity ? He seems to think it’s functional like muscle tension dysphonia because I sound fine in one language and strained in another. But overall I have felt much better with my weight back and I was sleeping fine I wasn’t getting throat symptoms in bed anymore or stomach sensations, I felt healed

I officially tapered off PPI and had no issues with the taper. I got back to my original weight before all the symptoms and distress happened. I was feeling fine in general less stomach symptoms and throat symptoms at night time.

Then something happened

Something loud irritated my ear. I think it’s called acoustic trauma shock. Basically a loud noise triggered my nervous system and ear to be hypersensitive to sounds.

I felt super panic and kept constantly searching up my symptoms and if I did ear damage and what not. Loud noise again affected me and made me tense up badly and feel stressed

I took a supplement called NAC because I thought it would be safe to take to prevent “inner ear damage”. I also ate spicy food during that time and now my symptoms have returned with a vengeance

The dizzy spells, the poor sleep, the anxiety doom wake up after sleeping few hours, the burning in stomach on empty stomach, the bloating. I am now getting bad constipation as well 😞 I am getting that throat feeling again the nonacidic reflux it feels like I have to swallow a liquid feeling in throat that irritates my voice

I’m gonna go to the gastro again soon but I’m hoping any of you have experience or atleast hope I can finally heal based off my experience/environment?

I’m again back to being anxious and looking up my symptoms worrying about the worst health that can happen to me

Also to add:

I have severe dust mite allergy
Mold allergy (cladosporum)

Live in carpet that’s 20 years old

So I wonder if these two are aggravating and causing me to have poor sleep and it’s not only reflux/gastritis related

Pepcid at night empty stomach kinda makes me more anxious I’m clueless on how to heal. Even the Pepcid makes my reflux worse at night because my lower tummy is constantly bloated and I think it causes gaseous reflux to come up from the bloating

I seem to have slow motility in digestion

Also maybe critical thing to add: I was given antibiotics when I was younger 15-16 for acne. They put me on them for so long. Ever since then I developed rosacea in face.

To add: blood levels been fine overall but last few years I noticed

Iron was 55 Ferritin 145 Hemoglobin 13.9 MCV 88 FeSat 23% TIBC 235
My iron was 80ish before and Iron is absorbed in the first part of small intestine
