The episode was alright, but I feel like Helluva Boss focuses so heavily on the relationships between the characters that whenever it introduces an external conflict, it ends up being as shallow as possible. I get the point that Millie and Cassity had a toxic friendship, but I kept asking myself: why on earth would anyone be friends with Cassity in the first place?
Maybe I’m oversimplifying, but the character was so pathetic that I never understood how on hell Millie let that woman make so many decisions for her. It feels like whenever the writers create villains or antagonists for Helluva Boss, they end up being as shallow and one-dimensional as they can possibly be. They’re just "evil for the sake of being evil," and we, as the audience, are simply expected to hate them.
"Well, what about Fizz, Asmodeus, and Verosika?" I’d argue that you can’t really call them villains, since at no point did they ever pose a genuine threat or anything of the sort. Maybe I’m being a drag, but it would have been much more interesting if Cassity had at least been clever when it came to making plans—to compensate for how bad she was in a fight—and if Millie had felt close to her because of that. Then, perhaps, Cassity could have become overly arrogant due to her successes, leading her to devise a risky plan that resulted in what we saw.
I’m not saying this because I liked her character; I just think it would be more compelling than yet another "character number 3,472,891" who’s essentially just an asshole meant to be hated, existing solely to justify the beatdown they inevitably get from the main cast.
