Friendly reminder to everyone proposing trades in this sub

When healthy, the Habs don't even quite have $2.5million in cap space. As of right now, with guys injured and others being called up, the team only has $757,649 in cap space. Any trade the Habs make would need to be in line with the salary cap, so it's not an option to trade just prospects and draft picks for roster players (unless you're also proposing to put roster players for the Habs on waivers).

Hage for Larkin? Not gonna work unless you can clear another $7,942,351 in cap space. That means either Hutson or Dobson is gonna need to go the other way in that trade, too. Or two or more other roster players.

You want Konecny? He comes at about the same cost as Larkin. The Habs are gonna need to clear another $7,992,351. Even trading any one guy on the first line (Caufield, Suzuki, Slafkovsky) won't be enough to get the trade done. You'd need to throw someone else in the mix on top of any one of them to make the trade happen. Or, again, trade either Hutson or Dobson one-for-one for Konecny.

You want the Habs to trade for Elias Petterson? You're also gonna need to clear another $10,842,351 in cap space to do that. No one Habs player has that large a cap hit, so you're gonna need to pick at least two roster players to go the other way in any trade you propose, not just draft picks and prospects.

Discussion Thoughts on a potential Konecny trade?

Post image

I wouldn’t mind it since Konecny averaged 72 points in 2 years on the FLYERS of all teams who plays a very defensive system. He’s well over 50 even strength points the last 2 years too. He may not be very tall but he’s gritty and that’s exactly what we need. He’s a perfect 2nd liner tbh and he would feast with Demidov on his line and Hutson behind him.

BROSSARD – Following Thursday’s day off, the Canadiens returned to the ice at the CN Sports Complex on Friday.

Juraj Slafkovsky was absent from practice for a therapy day, while Oliver Kapanen, who remains day to day, skated on Montreal’s top line as he continues to recover from an injury.

Ivan Demidov, Mike Matheson and Samuel Montembeault did not skate, and their statuses remain unchanged. Florian Xhekaj, meanwhile, is expected to miss two weeks with a lower-body injury.

The remainder of the line combinations were unchanged from Wednesday’s game against Washington.

Discussion No Trade Clause -Four Big Leagues- Very Interesting

NHL:320
MLB: 35
NFL: 8
NBA: 2

Why? Do the NBA and NFL have it right?

Was listening to the 690 this afternoon and they were talking about this. When a Hellybuck or a Larkin situation arrises the teams loses leverage. It’s a self inflicted thing that the owners do to themselves. They were talking about changing a clause in the collective agreement and if suddenly a person wants to be traded they would give a lost of 10 teams. The no trade clause in a contract just ties teams hands! You than are in a compromising sitution!

I thought it was an interesting
take. Even Bettman said that No Trade clauses were not meant to work the way they are. Do you like the idea of the player providing a list of 10 teams? What do you astute people think?

Discussion Centre Bell Post-Game Audio

I was fortunate enough to see the BUF-MTL game this week at Centre Bell and did the tour of the building on the following day.

First off, excellent tour, and thank you to our tour guide for your knowledge and levity throughout.

If you're a production nerd, it may not be the perfect tour, as some of my questions didn't have readily available answers but, obviously, one could see why the tour was focused on the Habs, and not just the infrastructure.

One large question remained: Why can't we ever hear almost any of the questions in post-game interviews with MSL in the press room?

Answer: It's because the setup is sub-par for the engineer working it, and the post/streaming crew mixing it.

There is an incredibly capable D-Live console in the room (I assume chosen for networking capabilities) with (as far as I could tell- I didn't ask to turn the console on) just a few mics plugged in. It appeared to be the podium(MSL) mic, and 2x Rode M5's pointing vaguely into the room to pick up the reporters.

If you've been in that room before, you know how small it actually is, which leads to an entirely expected outcome: Reporters/media don't even have to raise their voice to have MSL hear/understand the question being asked, so they aren't being picked up on the mic.

I don't know if anyone from the Bell Centre pays any attention to this subreddit, but hey, crazier things have happened so I'll pose a question: Why hasn't anyone employed the Auto Mic Mixer on the DLive and a mic array on the ceiling to improve the post-game press conferences?

It should be easy enough to set up a handful of 'pickup areas' keyed to MSL's Mic weighted as the master and still just send a stereo (or mono) mix for streaming postgame.

I'm in MTL for a few more days and would be happy to come down and chat with any one on the production crew more about this. Feel free to send a DM.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
