QUESTION Wiring diagram help
Can someone make a diagram for an uncommon upgrade for my hss strat?
Treble Bleed + Gilmour Mod (push-pull) + Caps on each tone potentiometer.
Idk if this will help, but the tone potentiometers are alpha premium and the push-pull is just alpha and all are 250k. Lastly, the caps are Sprague 600v 0.047uF

DISCUSSION SG pickup dilemma
SO! We're talking SG standard. And two candidate pickup sets, a BKP Alnico Warpig/Stormy Monday, and an SD Black Winter set.
What are your thoughts on each pairing?
The volume imbalances on the BKPs have been tamed before so we're good on that front. For context, we mostly play prog death, doom, and some more ambient things. We're looking for creamier highs and the articulation that we find in the Black Winters, but we need the thump, the meat, the punch that the BKPs have.
No, we aint got the budget to buy them both and sell and buy the other, we just need info on a decision xD
Side question: any BKPs that blend the two without having the compressed lows of more "contemporary" options that you think is worth checking out?

QUESTION Is my action bad?
This is my first electric guitar. I've been lately struggling with improving my speed, but I don't know if it's the action or just a skill issue. What are your thoughts?

GEAR Nick Johnston HSS 10th Ann Schecter guitar mod
Has anyone played the Nick Johnston HSS 10th Anniversary guitar? What did you think of it? I also thought it would be cool to replace the pickups with EMG HSS for a heavier sound and replace the tuning pegs with black locking tuners as a small mod.

QUESTION Gauge and pickup recs
Hello friends
I have an old Yamaha Pacifica 012 which I wanna mod slightly.
I want heavy strings with low action for playing chord melody stuff mainly
I love the feeling of sturdy strings that don’t slide around, but that can be barred with a light touch
Does anyone have recs ? I’m pretty ignorant but I understand that there is some trade off between heavy gauge and low action. Maybe 12s would be a good sweet spot? I’m thinking flat wounds.
Also going to change one of the pickups. Stupidly years ago I changed the neck to a lipstick because I saw someone else do it. I don’t even know if that makes sense and I’m sure it doesn’t make sense for the sound I’m going for
Here is a reference but to be honest feel is my priority over sound

Thanks !!

NEWBIE Yamaha PAC112J vs Squier Sonic HT for a beginner on a budget?
Hello everyone!
I'm planning on buying my first electric guitar soon, and I’m having a massive internal crisis. I was originally dead set on the Yamaha PAC112J, but I recently saw the Squier Sonic Stratocaster HT in an ad, did some research, and I'm having a debate between which to get.
For the amp, I'm thinking of getting the Blackstar Fly 3 if that would change anything.
Anyways, before I get the guitar, I was wondering which would be the better option? And would I be better off getting a totally different guitar? Here's more information about what I need:
- My Budget: Looking to keep the total cost low, around $300–$350 for both the guitar and amp together. (This is for recs:)
- Where I play: Mostly in a small bedroom. I'm not sure this would change anything, but still putting this here:)
- Music style: I want to play post-punk and alt-rock (and maybe pop) (The Smiths, Queen, The Cure style).
My Questions:
- Will the SSS (all single-coil) layout on the Squier Sonic actually serve me better than the HSS humbucker on the Pacifica 112J for my music genre? Or will I regret not having a humbucker?
- As a total beginner, is the Hardtail (HT) bridge on the Squier going to save me from a world of tuning frustration compared to the Pacifica’s vintage tremolo?
- Should I buy the Pacifica because it has an objective hardware advantage (solid alder body), or the Squier because looking down at a guitar with a Fender-family logo makes my brain happy?
- Are both these options bad, and should I just do some more research on a better alternative?
Thank you in advance to everyone who helps! Any advice or recommendations are much appreciated!

QUESTION Next guitar? Next approach?
So I’ve been playing around five years, about an hour a day. I’d only partially call it ‘learning’ as I tend to just busk - I can play 30 plus beginner to intermediate songs and keep adding new ones. I don’t seem to have the discipline for repeated practice, although I start each day with a couple of scales, attempt and fail to get a decent sounding barre chord.
I play a crappy $100 Korean acoustic.
I want to get a new/additional guitar. I’m happy to spend up to $400. What should I get? Could be acoustic, semi- or electric.
Also, what’s my next step to advance my playing — maybe still busking songs but more impressively?
Many thanks for any advice!

GEAR Please help!!! This noise is ruining my head 😅
Everything was fine till an intermittent crackling sound started. Checked the wiring and all was well. Tried the pickup and I was hoping an expert could guide me as to what's wrong. One of the pickup terminals (yellow) makes a rather weird sound, unlike the others.

QUESTION Intonation issues on Epiphone IBG SG
I have a new Epiphone Inspired By Gibson (not Custom) SG that I am really enjoying. I went from factory installed 10's to a set of Stringjoy Balanced Super Light (9-42.) Then proceed to set up using TRAIN method:
1) Tuned it up
2) Relief, adjusted truss rod to my preference
3) Action, needed no TOM adjustment
4) INTONATE : Here's where I am having an issue. The 3 bass side strings intonated properly. I check it by playing open E-A-D-G-B-e, then checking the note fretted at the 12th. I didn't use the harmonic method (Is the proper way to use the harmonic method to play the note at fret 12 then compare it to harmonic at fret 12?) Anyway, E, A, D went well, not much adjustment was needed, small adjustments for 12th fret notes being a bit sharp. I LENGTHEN the string a bit by moving the saddle away from the neck. The last 3 strings (G-B-e) were also a bit sharp, needing the adjustment of the saddle to lengthen the string length from nut to saddle. However, these last 3 strings would NOT intonate. No matter how much I move the saddle, the 12th fret note is still sharp. I ran out of real estate moving the saddle and it STILL was sharp. I have never had this happen before, and I'm kind of puzzled.
Here are my observations/thoughts/questions on the thing:
Could the nut be a problem? I wouldn't think I'd have binding issues, as I decreased the string gauge. I also added a little nut sauce equivalent (cork grease), to no avail.
Could the pickups be too close to the strings, causing a poor reading of the note?
Could there be an issue with the saddles themselves? Like a burr on the saddle or something?
I am stumped, I am going to check these last thoughts when I get home later, if anyone has any hepful ideas in the meantime, I would be extremely grateful. I really like this guitar and little things like this drive me crazy.

QUESTION Ibanez Edge Zero 2 help
I have an Ibanez Universe 7 string here and its only been problems since I got it. I swear I’ve restrung it before but I could be delusional because all Im trying to do is loosen the saddles and remove the strings but no matter what hex wrench or tool I use (I do have the Ibanez multi-tool it comes with as well) they do not loosen as they should and nothing happens. Very frustrating not sure what Im doing wrong. Please help!

GEAR Can someone help me identify this pickup?
Found this on someone's story, asked them about it and they don't know what it is. All I know is that it is the bridge pickup and on a Sterling Guitar. No clue if it is modified though.
EDIT: He said it has a heavy telecaster twang

PLAY The Power Gig guitar, the worst guitar ever made, being played into a Marshall DSL-20
For the uninitiated, the Power Gig guitar is a guitar/game controller released with Power Gig: Rise of the Six String, a game meant as a Rock Band or Guitar Hero competitor, but with an actual guitar. The problem, of course, is that the controller sucks and the game didn't take advantage of it.
I picked this thing up for about $50 on Ebay earlier this year alongside the game, and the stock strings really highlighted how much this thing sucks. They were a 10-46 set and felt like rubber bands. Chords sounded awful. However, last week I got around to swapping them out with a 12-56 set of Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinky strings, and tuned it down to Drop C. The result was shockingly high tuning stability and chords that actually sounded good. At home I stumbled on the right combination of pedal and amp for a nice nu metal tone, but here it's just a Marshall and a tube screamer. Enjoy!
