📌 Subreddit News/Updates Posting ICE Sightings in Greenpoint

Hi all,

I'll start by saying this sub is not a political sub. Pretty much our main rule (besides be nice to each other) is all posts have to be related to Greenpoint somehow, someway. That being said, we do understand those who want to report ICE agents being seen around the neighborhood and want to post a guide on the best way to possible report these sightings in a way that is most helpful.

First and foremost, if you're choosing to post about an ICE sighting, please provide as many details as possible in the post. This graphic that has been going around is helpful if you're unsure what to share. You don't have to have all the information listed, but the moderators ask that each post has at least:

• date, time, and location

• a source

• any detail about what was witnessed (I saw an agent standing at..., I saw what looked like agents escorting people... etc)

When it comes to sources, OP being the witness is preferred, but if you choose to post about a sighting you heard about secondhand, please include this in your post. It helps us as the moderators determine validity and any post without a source may be removed as hearsay. Other details, such as amount of agents seen, uniform description, or any other helpful identifiers are appreciated but moderators will be looking mainly for the points listed above.

We are a small group of moderators here, our goal is to create a safe space where these things can be discussed. The voices of you all here are reflective of the neighborhood and we have always strived to be a subreddit that showcases that. That being said, hate speech never has, and never will be tolerated here.

We hope that by posting this guideline it will helpful for those who want to post but are unsure how to format. If you have any questions or feedback on this topic, please feel free to drop a comment here or message the mods.

Remember that we're all navigating this together so please be kind to each other, and stay safe out there.

- The Greenpoint Mod Team :)

❤️ Recommendations USPS outpost at Murawski Pharmacy

A while back, while lamenting the state of GP’s USPS branch, someone recommended to use Murawski and… it’s been a game changer! Yes, they are cash only which is not ideal, AND they don’t do QR codes, but service has been so much niiiiiicccccceeeerrrrr and consistent. I’m in and out in like under 2 minutes, either dropping off a package or shipping something off. So again, thanks to the community for the rec 🙇‍♂️

Hrs are 9-3pm, closed SundaysZ

Huge long shot but I lost my work keys today (Monday 10/19). They’re a set of around 10 different sized keys on a silver carabiner with a floral multicolor nylon keychain. I would have lost them either on the G train, on the greenpoint ave queens bound platform, or somewhere between India st & green st

Hi, around 8:30 pm, my dad lost his phone along Manhattan Ave, either in D2 discount store, at Russ Pizza or in between. Asked the employees if they’ve seen the phone, but none claimed they’ve seen it. I don’t have a picture of the phone, but it’s a realme c35, color in pictures (Glowing Green), in a black framed clear case (also in the second picture, different model but similar case) with a picture of the Statue of Liberty as a wallpaper. Please dm me if you’ve seen it!

📆 Events / Meetups Local Artisan Fair

Post image
3 Upvotes

Next weekend, I’m hosting an artisan fair featuring 20 amazing local and regional artists - ceramicists, woodworkers, glassblowers, textile makers and more.

It’s right off the Bedford L on N 8th & Driggs and will be an amazing wholesome event with great shopping, amazing baked goods, and incredible artists.

It’s part of my new female founded brand Cura Collective which is a online marketplace dedicated to handcrafted goods by incredible makers in the US (some have deemed it “a sexy etsy”).

It’s completely free & open to the public :) and you may have seen our signs around town. Can’t wait to see you there!!

All of it is off the stores' printed circulars, so the shelf tag wins if they disagree.

❤️ Recommendations PT Recs

I've been dealing with like lagging back and hip pain for awhile. I have been going to spear PT for a couple of sessions but feel I need more manual manipulation or one on one since I feel like doing basic exercises for 40 minutes isn't super helpful and something I can do on my own. Looking for recommendations, preferably ones that take insurance. Also I live close to JAG so if anyone has any experience there or if its another large PT place where therapists have multiple clients at the same time. thanks!

❓Questions Gray old cat with a tail injury

Thumbnail
gallery
47 Upvotes

I’ve been seeing a group of cats outside on Huron usually in the evening when I’m coming home and the dark gray one in the pic had been looking bad with a rotting tail. I think he’s old.

I sometimes give them food but I ran into a woman last week who said she’s with Greenpoint Cats. She told me they are trying to trap the gray cat to take to the vet and get his injury treated. But earlier today, I saw the area the cats usually hang out is boarded up.

I messaged Greenpoint Cats asking for an update but i haven’t heard back from them. Does anyone know what’s happening at that lot? It looked abandoned but are they starting a construction? I hope the cats that live there are safe especially the old one :(

🆘 Help Needed Jacket swiper at Coffee check

I left my jacket and a goodie bag of skincare products (gifts from friends) outside Coffee Check when I scurried to hide from rain inside the shop.
When I left, those items were nowhere to be found
The nice shop manager sent me this video footage from the shop’s front security cam. It turned out this person in the footage took the jacket and goodie bag. I also had two candy bars (Harken, they are the best) in my pocket.
A bit heartbroken, as the jacket is also a gift from a dear friend and I always get lots of compliments on it. It gives the best Japanese librarian vibe.
Greenpoint is a place for home for the past 6 years. I have lost an ENTIRE wallet and people have found it and returned it to my building. And this happened on Oct 3rd, 2026.
I think it is fine if one day you found something in the street and looked nice; but this is obviously something that someone left from the coffee shop. Is it quite questionable to just swipe and claim for your own without second-guessing your decision?
Just want to rant this in our community, I am taking this lesson to be more careful with any meaningful personal items going forward

Edit: yes I was an idiot for leaving the jacket and the bag. Of course, I asked the coffee shop if anyone has found the jacket and this best described the outcome.

Artists lookout

Hi everyone!

**PAINTING JOB 🎨 🖼️ **!!!
Looking for a local artist in or near the neighborhood. If you are or know someone personally please PM me! It is for a personal special project that will be discussed once I find leads! But looking for someone with this style of painting (photo attached). Person must be gentle and kind. It’s very important to me that whom ever answers is someone with a great personality as the project is near and dear to my heart. If you have an IG or personal website please PM that as well. Thanks!
