Mod Post Rules Update - May 2025

Hello all! I have recently made some updates to the sub including a few rule additions and changes. (I also reorganized the rule list so some rules may just be a different number now).

New rules now in effect:

Rule 7 - No low effort posts: This includes but is not limited to: ai (art, vocals, chat bots, etc.), tier lists, playlists, “traveling” posts/memes , brackets/tournaments, reposts, and series/one a day posts.

Rule 11 - Social media content: No twitter(x), meta, Facebook, instagram, and threads links. You may post screenshots only from an official and relevant account (Gorillaz, Jamie, etc).

Rule changes now in effect:

Rule 5 - No third party sales posts/links (previously No sales or sales links): This includes but is not limited to: unofficial tshirts, posters, mugs, etc printed with unoffical art or offical art without permission. Essentially anything being made and sold with unlicensed Gorillaz imagery is prohibited.

Personal collection sales are allowed again. This is done at both the buyer and sellers own risk! (Personally I would recommended to choose a route with some means of restitution for example using “PayPal goods and services” instead of “PayPal friends and family” or going through eBay or similar service. This is not foolproof and if something seems too good to be true then it likely is. r/Gorillaz and it’s moderators are not responsible for mediating transactions or any “deals gone bad”.)

Additionally sales links from the official store or an official collaboration site (such as hot topic, superplastic, etc) are allowed.

Some fun:

New User Flair! I have added some new user flair emoji options including album covers, Noodles Plastic Beach mask, a super fast jellyfish, and more! I will be adding even more in the near future so keep checking back to see whats new and if you have any suggestions for flair check out User Flair Requests!

Moderator Applications:

Moderator applications are still open! If you would like to join the r/Gorillaz mod team check out this post! In the meantime the best way you all can help keep unwanted posts off the sub is by reporting rulebreaking posts, which will greatly increase my visibility on it.

Well thats about all. Looks like Gorillaz will be releasing a new album this year so I’m sure things will be picking up here quite a bit! Remember to treat everyone with respect and have fun!

Got my first tattoo today in honor of seeing them in Toronto on the 4th ❤️

I really wanted something subtle but beautiful, and was so lucky to hear El Mañana live. Gorillaz is my husband's and my favourite band, where we'd listen to Demon Dayz until we fell asleep, learned to play Melancholy Hill together on bass and guitar, and watched their live concert videos over and over during the pandemic. The Mountain album really stuck with me this year, after losing multiple family members and later a dear friend of mine to suicide. So grateful for this band.

I introduced her to Gorillaz about 2 years ago and she’s been obsessed since. She was 2-D and I tried my best at Noodle. It was her idea for us to dress up and she made her shirt herself! ❤️ we had a blast last night!!

I was really trying to find a way to be at the show tonight in Fort Worth, I was gonna make the 5 hour drive if I was able to score a last minute ticket. Kept checking all week to see if tickets would get cheaper and they never did so I said oh well, maybe I’ll get to see them one day. I was just hoping they wouldn’t play a song I was dying to see

I look at the setlist they played fucking Opium…

The one song I was hoping I wouldn’t miss 🫠

We recently finished this custom Gorillaz-themed Guitar Hero guitar and wanted to share it here.

We're a small project from Argentina called PLAYET, where we build, customize and restore Guitar Hero guitars. We really enjoy bringing these controllers back to life and giving them designs inspired by games, bands and other things we love.

This one turned out pretty nice, so we thought you guys might appreciate it. Let us know what you think.

The Gorillaz Major Arcana, part 2:

Strenght

"Strenght shows that you have the ability to remain calm and strong even when your life is going through immense struggle. It also shows that you are a compassionate person and you always have time for other people even if it's at your own expense. An upside down Strength card can mean that you are (or about to) experience an intense anger or fear in your life. This can mean that you have forgotten all about your passions and the kind of joy, happiness, and fulfillment that came with doing what you love."

Funfact for this drawing: The flowers on noodle's head are called... Moonflowers. 🤭

Discussion How old were you when you got into gorillaz?

I'm going to see them live in a couple weeks and am so pumped, but I've been feeling a bit weird because I'm seeing so many people talk about how many years they've been waiting, or how long they've been fans, etc. I'm 27 and been feeling like a bit of an imposter because I got into them so late 😂 I got into them last December, although rhinestone eyes had been one of my favorite songs for a few years. I just never knew it was by them as I typically enjoy individual songs rather then entire bands (This did not end up applying to Gorillaz once I started listening properly). I do feel super lucky because I get to experience both a new album AND a concert when my excitement and hype is still so fresh, but I'm curious about the general age that people seem to come across them!

Question Song identification? (Ft Worth)

Hi y’all, I’m trying to figure out which song was playing at the Fort Worth concert tonight when the monkey from the “Laika, Come Home” album was on the screen. I looked at the setlist, but I feel like it’s currently incorrect, because none of the songs on there are the one that I’m looking for.

Really wanna know the name of the song, it was so good. Any help is appreciated. Thank you 🙏

Discussion Demon Days is the greatest album of the 21st century

Music was largely solved by the end of the 60s. The only genres left to explore were rap and electronic, both done in the 90s. The next step was fusing it all together, and no project has done that better than Demon Days. It's fatalistic view of climate change was ahead of it's time, the virtual band concept was obviously novel, it's music aimed simultaneously at children and adults.

There are other obvious candidates, In Rainbows, Good Kid Maad City, but those are iterations on existing genres. Demon Days could only exist post-2000, in the digital age, it was cutting edge and somehow still univerally loved, commercially and critically. Nothing else like it.

Discussion Gorillaz in Austin

Just got back home to Indianapolis from Austin and I’m still buzzing from the show. Honestly? Might genuinely be the best concert I've ever been to. Recency bias sure, but damn it was incredible

Aside from the set itself, the best part by far was just hanging out with the people in line and in the crowd. I met some ridiculously cool folks. Shoutout to the dude I ended up chatting with while we were waiting out there like seven hours before doors opened (helped the time fly by), the girl with the insane bright blue hair who was super fun to talk music with, the mother-daughter duo who were just great company and the 2 friends I got dinner with after. Just incredible

If any of you happen to see this, seriously, thanks for making an already incredible night that much better. I was in the Micheal Jordan jersey and orange shoes. Hard to miss lol

Anyone else here make it out? What did you think of the set?

I came to this show by myself, beyond excited to finally experience Damon Albarn live and in person rather than through a YouTube video. Little did I know, the night would turn into something far more magical than I could have ever imagined.

Somehow, universe led me to two wonderful ladies who were kind enough to bring me along with them to the front row. THE FRONT ROW! What started as an evening of excitement quickly became an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Of course, I wore my favorite Damon Albarn shirt (and that’s saying something, considering I own three!). To finally see him up close, performing the music that has meant so much to me over the years, was truly surreal.

Words cannot begin to express how deeply Damon and his musical gifts have touched my soul. The man is nothing short of a musical genius. His artistry has been a part of my life for so long, and to finally attend my very first show of his was everything I had hoped for and so much more.

And then came a moment I’ll never forget.
Damon noticed my shirt, gave a little chuckle, smiled, and said, “thank you”.
Such a small interaction, but one that meant the absolute world to me. I’ll have that moment playing on repeat in my head until the day I lay my soul to rest.

Absolutely incredible. I’m still at a loss for words.
And as if the evening couldn’t get any better, I
received a setlist after the show. The perfect keepsake from a night I’ll never forget.

To Damon and his incredibly talented band, thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a beautiful, and unforgettable experience.
