Looking to make some new friends (40f)

Hi! I'm looking to meet some women around my age to chat with and hopefully make some lasting friendships.

I enjoy history, reading, tv and art. I'm happy to chat about pretty much anything. I'd love to find people who enjoy a good conversation, whether that's talking nonsense, discussing something interesting or putting the world to rights.

Feel free to drop me a message if you'd like to chat! 😊

A 43-year-old woman living in London feels her social circle is gradually shrinking.

Born in Slovakia, I left my homeland after a difficult marriage, and since then, I have devoted more of my time to my work and personal growth. I used to enjoy frequent social gatherings, but with age, I have found myself less drawn to socialising for the sake of it. When life becomes quieter, one begins to realise how few genuine friends remain close, each of us occupied with our own responsibilities and rarely finding the time to meet. Yet, whenever we do, the conversation flows effortlessly, as though no time has passed. Perhaps this is what growing older teaches us that the value of our social lives lies not in how many people surround us, but in the quality of the connections we maintain. I often wonder how others feel about this; do you prefer a close circle of like-minded people who enrich your life, or do you still find pleasure in socialising simply for the enjoyment of company?

41M - looking for long term friends

Let’s share a joke or meme, let’s laugh. Pressure at office? Take a coffee break, let’s talk. Heart broken? You have to live again, love your life again, let’s talk about our most favourite thing, hobby. Who is stealing our laugh? Our joy? Let’s take it back, together! Sharing sadness can be a way to our happiness. I am offering a shoulder, hands if you need it. Listening ear, if you need it. In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.

I love deep conversation. Small talks are fine too until it's dry. So please don't be dry! I love music, mostly into 80’s and 90’s and I’d love to hear your recommendation and will do the same if you want. I love languages, specifically I am in love with Turkish language but no I can’t talk or write in Turkish. I am totally non judgmental so you can vent. I believe every kind of relationship are just like a tree! Give it a time, it will grow thro times. A fully grown tree can be our shelter and we can get fruit too! A tired soul can take rest beneath that tree! Give it a shot!

43M from Florida looking for some low-pressure, everyday chat friends

I am 43 and live down in Florida. Work-wise, I am an analyst and developer, and since I work from home, I do not get much interaction with others outside my core work team.

When I am not working, you can usually find me working out every single day to stay sane, tinkering with custom electronics builds, coding personal projects in my spare time, and playing music across a few different instruments. I also really enjoy traveling, experiencing new cultures, and trying out different kinds of food whenever I get the chance.

Life gets busy, so I am not expecting round-the-clock texting, just someone chill to trade messages with. I am a good listener and always down for solid, genuine conversation.

54 M Running to stand still

I’ve recently been through massive changes in life. Empty nest, big job change, life change and everything upside down. I’m just truly looking for a friend. Not looking for things to get weird or complicated. I just enjoy a good conversation.

I’m not a reader if you don’t count operation manuals and SOP’s reading. I have a fun sense of humor on the dark side but fun. I’m a movie fan and in particular horror.

The world has changed and moved on and I’m looking around like I’m in slow motion but time is going by faster than I can keep up with.

If that resonates say hi.

44 male. Canada. Looking to chat, but don't know what about lol

I'm a pretty normal guy, into that "woowoo" stuff, can nerd out to some psychology stuff as well. I think I'm mature, but silly and cheaky (Canadian slang?)

Can talk about favorite books (cool points if you can name some minds of the psychology world as some authors)

Or, if you could, which movie would you like to watch again for the first time?

37/M/England - Looking for New Folks

Hey!

Im a 37 year old guy from England who's looking to meet new people and maybe make a friend or two, casual conversation, more in depth, and just generally trying to get to know more people. I don't care too much where you're from or your age, but let me know anyway just so I have an idea of who I'm speaking to.

I'm pretty laid back in general and not all that really judgemental of people, but I am interested in stories of how they came to be. People's lives, what they are in to, where they want to go, what their idea of happiness and life looks like. That sort of thing.

I've been described as a cool head and a good conversationalist with an even temperament. Curious about almost everything. Intelligent, funny and reasonably witty. A good speaker and listener.

Interests? Outdoors, exploring new places and visiting things off the beaten track. Architecture, history, horror stories, the surreal and out there. Things that make me think about stuff or ask questions.

I’ve finished work for the next few weeks and between stuff I have to get done and other plans I thought it might be nice to find other people to talk to so, if you feel like the above might be of interest to you feel free to drop me a message.

Life is a train wreck

I turned 40 this year. Decided to divorce my husband because he’s a psycho. He kept me away from everyone except work people…
Now I don’t know how to socialize like a normal person. I have work people or no people. Many things have happened this year.
I’m slightly neurotic and weird and have ADD brain and it does damage. I know I’m a little crazy and quirky but I just think about a lot of dark things.
I’m sad a lot… I just want like one human to hang out with and that seems impossible. I met one and we both ruined it. But I guess I take the most blame because I do weird shit at weird times and apparently when I get confronted with anger I shut down and feel like ptsd from the ex all over again and I say and do crazy shit because I don’t know how to deal with anything anymore.
I just want someone to talk to. 🤷🏻‍♀️ not someone who is going to pretend anything. Or say things and really not mean them. Or make me feel even more like a crazy person when I’m mentally and physically exhausted because I can’t eat or sleep normal.
What do I do?

Looking for a friend that…

I know this might not sound very well, but I’m looking for a friend that has:

  1. Read a book at least in the last two months;
  2. Has been nice to the coffee shop clerk this morning;
  3. Have questioned themselves about the meaning of their life at some point;
  4. Still has some doubts about many things but already set some things straight as well…
  5. Is not afraid of getting wet in the rain;
  6. It’s into fireplaces, or into the idea of fireplaces…
  7. More prone to feel afraid about a bacteria than about petting a horse or a goose…
  8. Has some questionable tastes. A yellow sweater, maybe?
  9. Can still walk great distances. At least in their mind.
  10. Be curious and can tell me about things I had no idea

I’m a forty something woman looking here for the kind of people I’m missing in real life. I deliver all I’m asking!

44M - bring on the sweater weather…I am ready for boozy hot coco on chilly weekend nights!

so let’s see here….I love elite charcuterie boards, always order fried pickles as an appetizer, and have a Spotify playlist of like a bazillion hours filled with pop, punk, emo and a lil country.

I’m 44, married, working the corporate gig, and raising a couple of kiddos When I’m not active, playing hockey, or getting outdoors, I’m usually on the patio watching my golden retriever tear around the backyard doing high-speed zoomies.

My mornings strictly begin with creamy coffee in my office before the day gets away from me. Weekends are a fine art of surviving the madness at Costco followed by an amazing skill of carrying all the groceries inside in just 1 trip.

Once fall hits, I’m all about crisp air, and latenight hot cocoa. I’m also guilty of staying up way past my bedtime long after the house goes quiet, dabbling in a spicy audio book then falling asleep to some….fun dreams.

Anywho…hoping all you have a fantastic weekend!

38M San Diego - hope i can still join

Honestly I'm exhausted of the grind the adulting the struggles of daily life. Not only that but not having anyone i can just vent to unwind let out all the tea of the day. And im an amazing listener so i can do so too for y'all. Given a chance i am an outgoing spontaneous random sarcastic person who will find every possible way to make you laugh. Im looking for a friend an open book open minded person. III accept all kind of weirdness be yourself judgment tree zone. I love the outdoors cooking and have an unhealthy obsession with true crime shows and horror movies. Im a deep thinker over thinker old soul who loves 80s rock bands.

A little about me: I'm born and raised in San Diego, and if you put me outside, I'm a happy camper. I love hiking, camping, nature, and exploring. I'm a bit of a nerd who values learning, an open book, a huge empath, and a little introverted until I'm comfortable. I have ADHD and dyslexia, so texting isn't my strongest skill, but put me on a call and I'II yap tor hours! I also love cooking and trying recipes from different cultures.
I'm looking for a best friend I can talk to about anything and everything. Give me the tea, the TMI, the deep conversations, the random thoughts, and the unhinged late-night talks. I want a friendship where we can be completely ourselves, laugh together, support each other, and genuinely look forward to talking.

I’ve been told by the powers to be that I should say something.

I work a lot but I also know that I need to carve out “me” time. So anyone is welcome who is willing to entice a workaholic to take a minute here and there.
I am sarcastic, artsy, and dying. Lol.
I don’t get easily offended and I’m not that shy. I am respectful of others’ opinions and I accept that not everyone will share the same views as me. And I expect you to do the same. It’s okay not to agree. But let’s get together based on commonalities.
Share a cringy meme. Bad joke. Dark humor. Or even just share funny and goofy face selfies. Let’s just have some fun getting to know each other and see what we can build from it.

Dating with bipolar (t2)

At what point is it time to throw in the hat?

After how many times you try and be upfront, and hear the same lines of how its fine and they can handle it, even after trying to explain...at what point is it just time to say fuck it?

There time wasted and the feels brought because of it, for both of us..even when you see the signs, and try to do something..the whole being bipolar ends up with its familiar self sabotage..at what point does one decide, not for them, but for others, that..

Fellow folks who are perfectly flawed, gimme that internet advice!

44F from Arkansas. Mother to 5. Oncology nurse.

I'm big into WWII, 1940s, 1950s, and spooky stuff. I adore nerds and have a tendency to geek out on my vintage lifestyle. (Sorry in advance!)

Currently renovating my ranch house to look more 1950s. I would love to put in a victory garden but need some help. Unfortunately I don't have the best green thumb.

My hobbies are knitting, sewing, crochet, reading, cooking, baking and quilting.

49M USA – Looking for genuine friendships, good conversations, and maybe some old-fashioned letters

Hey everyone!
I’m a 49-year-old guy from Missouri looking to make some genuine friendships. I’m not particularly concerned about your gender, background, or where you’re from. I’m more interested in whether we click and can enjoy talking to each other.
I’m a dad, a veteran, and a bit of a nerd. I enjoy video games, comics, movies, music, and a good sense of humor. I can be sarcastic, occasionally inappropriate, and definitely enjoy some good-natured banter.
Life hasn’t exactly been sunshine and rainbows lately, but I’m not looking for someone to fix my problems. I’d just enjoy having someone to talk with, share stories, laugh about stupid things, and maybe develop a lasting friendship.
I grew up when writing actual letters was a thing, and I kind of miss that. I’d love to eventually exchange handwritten letters, although I’m perfectly happy starting with messages and getting to know each other first.
I don’t expect constant communication, and there’s no pressure. Just two people seeing whether a friendship develops naturally.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to say hello!

Is it just me, or is everyone in this group ridiculously interesting?

Scrolling through the posts, I get the impression that everyone over 40 has at least three fascinating hobbies, two hidden talents, and a collection of adventurous life stories. Some people are hiking mountains, learning new skills, creating beautiful things, or doing things I didn’t even know were hobbies!

Meanwhile, I work in research, which sounds quite impressive until you realise I’m still in the early stages of figuring things out 😕

My hobbies are rather low-key. Nothing particularly impressive. No exciting plot twists!

Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only one here whose list of hobbies wouldn’t make it past the first round of a talent show!

Please tell me I’m not the only ordinary human among all these overachievers!
