I’m excited to try them
Can someone help me identity this please?
My 98 year old father has had this tree probably at least 20 years. He lives on the end of Long Island New York.
Someone gave it to him so he has no idea what variety it is. He prunes it every year and he gets buckets of figs.
He's proud of it but would like to give it a proper name.
Thanks!
Marilyn

I had been planning to gently prune my fig tree this winter when dormant, removing a few big branches close to the ground and letting others develop into second additional main trunks over time. But I just went out in my yard and found that someone hired to do a job that had nothing to do with this had aggressively pruned the tree. I’m a bit angry about this but also puzzled and want to give them the benefit of the doubt. Was making all those cuts obviously the right thing to do for some reason? Why would anyone do this, especially when it’s still hot out where I live?
Late crop but still very sweet with delicious sweet berry flavours.

I am trying fig pops with 100% perlite, but have been given a tough time because the last time I tried doing cuttings, I had about 50% success. Then, I just threw them all in a bin with dirt together with a light (9W grow light). This time, I have a 50w 4' grown light hung much close and am using fig pops with 100% perlite. I have some valuable cuttings. Am I going to mess them up? The light was off in the picture, but it is a purple light

Hello, fig friends!
I have acquired 3 Chicago Hardy fig trees this summer that are in containers. Now that it’s getting cold (much to my dismay), I’m worried about what to do with my trees. Should I leave them outside or bring them into the house? We don’t have a covered porch or garage, so those are my only two options. This is my first year with fig trees, so I want to make sure I’m doing what’s best for them. My plant hardiness zone is 7b, if that helps.
Thanks so much for your help! This community has been wonderful and I’m super grateful for everyone's advice and time!

I have a Corazon de la Bahia fig a few weeks ago we got heavy rain and they became squishy like a ballon. Then two weeks no rain, earlier this week we got a little rain and they have hardened back up. Is this normal, I asked Ai of all things and two weeks ago it said I should pluck them they will stay squishy, glad I didn’t listen. Any advise from non bots?

I woke up to almost all of the leaves fall off of the tree. It got I think under freezing last night. I am in Maine zone 5A. I am new to figs and this is my first fig tree. It’s a Chicago hardy.
Is it time to bring it in for the winter time? I plan to put it in my basement. And also do I need to fertilize and mulch the base? Any advice is appreciated!

Just planted this morning this 8 month old cutting in the ground, Zone 7A NY. I'll cover the top for winter protection.

I just planted this little Ruby fig in the ground today along with my potted Italian Honey fig. Due to the late April frost, my figs fruited late and unfortunately these figs will not ripen this season. I will spray chili peppers before covering these figs for winter protection.

Its a White Adriatic, a few months from bare root. It dropped a leaf while I looked at it this morning.
I also bought a Deanna, and its been substantially more vigorous than this.
This is SE Australia, with spring underway (~20C in the morning, cool nights).
Can this be saved?
The leaves on this Black Celeste fig have a problem—is it caused by a virus, nutrient deficiency, or something else? This is a defective seedling I bought. It’s the first time I’ve seen this happen, but the new leaves don’t seem to have the problem anymore.

Hi! I just gave my cousin this young clone of our grandfathers fig. She is debating what to do with it so I wanted to consult the experts. She’s considering 3 options:
1. Plant it in the ground now, wrap for winter once dormant
2. Let go dormant, but in garage until spring, then plant
3. Bring it inside and keep it in their sunroom through winter as sort of a greenhouse, maybe up pot it if it keeps growing. Then plant in spring.
What do we think? She’s in northeast MD zone 7b.

Traveling overseas to Jordan, I couldn’t resist going on a hunt for local figs! Meet the Jordan Khudeiri (which basically means the green one).
It’s a heirloom variety tracing back thousands of years. It’s intensely flavored, super jammy, perfectly sweet yet tangy, with a wild fruit-punch taste and the most satisfying seed crunch. Wish we had it in the US!
If anyone has it and can send cuttings please DM me 🙏

First couple ripened White Madeira #1 Figs ( photo 2 and 3 are from different ripened figs ) I got from a rooted cutting.
Absolutely incredible fig. Jammy and tastes almost like strawberry preserves

I'm from Montreal (zone 5a or 5b). I have a new Chicago fig plant. It is currently in a pot.
What is the best way to keep it?
Plant it?
Burry it for the winter?
Keep it inside just above freezing point?
Do I cut it or not?

It's coming to the time of the year when I have to bring my potted figs inside in the next few weeks. However I've been propagating too much and don't have enough window space for all the trees. Do they actually need light while they are dormant? Or can I just shove them in a corner and water once a week until spring?

Please help!! What do I do?! They're obliterating the leaves! I don't care if it's a "natural" solution or not; I want a solution. I saw someone said Niko Bait on tiktok. Any personal benefit from it before?
This is the variety I chose 3 years ago, and I definitely recommend it, very juicy and sweet with hints of strawberry when the inside is still red, turns even richer and honey-like when it gets even more ripe and brownish inside.
It is known as Dalmatie where I live but has apparently many other names (White Navello, San Pietro, du Japon, Dalmatian green...)
I ordered another variety this year because I was getting worried this one couldn't fruit in the mild climate where I live: the previous years the autumn figs would stay green, but this summer was exceptionally hot and we have been feasting.
Teaspoon for size, but some of the brebas in early summer were gigantic (unfortunately lost to an improvised football match and ants)

Why is it considered mandatory to let a very small tree (like a foot tall) go dormant ? Can't you just keep it alive as a house plant through the winter ? It's not like it's going to fruit anyway. It probably won't fruit the entire next year either. So what is the harm in letting it bigger over the winter and then putting it out in the spring ?
