Endurance Nathan Hardway - Tougher than a 2 dollar steak.

Post image
0 Upvotes

We've all been there.

Let's make a challenge build and see how far we get before we rage quit.

It happens.

I started with a simple premise.

No weapon specific traits will be taken. Zero. This means no Rifleman, Iron fist etc.

However Nathan can upgrade everything. Like BASF he doesn't make it, he makes it better.

His one defining trait is toughness. This manifests in various ways but mostly puts him into a blast and outlast game play. Or, you know, playing smarter instead of face rolling (but where's the fun in THAT?!?)

Reliance on companions seems baked in (it is) BUT he's not specifically designed for it (no companion enhancing abilities like Inspirational)

Made mostly as an experiment into the usefulness of certain perks, it's been a pretty cool play so far. Not near to rage quitting :D

Yet.

Intelligence Tips/advice for Engineer style build

I have only done one playthrough and that was quite a while ago. Im looking to jump back in with a new playthrough

I’m wanting to play this kind of nerdy tinkerer/engineer type of character who upgrades the crap out of his power armor and becomes this almost unstoppable machine. I like the idea of him being a very squishy and non-threatening person when he’s outside of his power armor. He could even have multiple suits of armor that are upgraded with completely different kits.

Was considering also trying to use heavy guns as main weapons of choice most of the time, if possible. Big laser guns, things that shoot lightning, big exploding guns, that kind of thing. Of course these would also be upgraded a whole bunch too

The point is that he would be a very capable person in combat ONLY if he has power armor with him. Probably even roleplay that he’s not strong enough to wield these heavy guns when not in his armor.

Any suggestions/advice on how to get the best experience with this kind of build? Starting stats? Good power armor upgrades or weapons to use? I’m open to mods but I play on Xbox.

I have the game of the year edition but I haven’t really done too much with all the DLCs except for Far Harbor and the Automaton one (which this character would absolutely take advantage of)

Melee How do I revamp my old build/playstyle?

Hey there. I'm going back to playing an old character I made awhile back. He's a goody tushus that believes he's a superhero named Atomic Adam. He's level 34, his playstyle is primary unarmed damage with a powerfist, blitz perk, and occasionally uses a laser pistol. He also has high resistances which includes radiation.

When it comes to rp, he's your typical silver-age superhero: does everything good for the sake of good. He always leans into the more peaceful outcomes but if attacked he is not afraid to fight his way out. his only real rule is that he doesn't use bullet-based guns or bladed melee weapons.

I enjoy playing him from an rp stand-point but recently I am finding his playstyle to be a little dull. It feels like I'm walking through encounters blitzing, punching, and winning. I've also been using the same gear for roughly 10 levels now so needless to say it's gotten pretty stale.

I guess what I trying to figure out is how to change up how he fights in combat while maintaining his values.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

These are my current stats:

Str: 7

Per: 2

End: 7

Cha: 6

Int: 6

Agil: 9

Luck: 3

Main Perks: iron fist, toughness, life giver, bloody mess, action boy, moving target, blitz, rad ressistant, aqua boy, armorer, science and blacksmith.

Meet Audrey, my Institute main

Strength: 3, Perception 8:, Endurance: 9, Charisma: 6, Intelligence 9, Agility: 7, Luck: 1

Her scars don't stem from Wasteland combat; they are the result of growing up with a violent, mentally unstable single mother; her father was absent for most of her childhood and died in the Resource Wars when she was still a young girl. CPS eventually removed Audrey from her mother's custody and placed her first in an orphanage and then in a loving foster family. Once she lived in a supportive environment she did well in school easily getting into law school. After being admitted to the bar, she entered a major law firm in Boston. On account of her at times off-putting personality and being self-conscious about her appearance, she did research work and drafted legal briefs and contracts rather than engaging in client contact or court appearances. She performed effectively in that role and had few qualms helping big corporations like Mass Fusion and Poseidon Energy skirt regulations, and exploit legal loopholes.

The issues I just mentioned did not make her dating life any easier, but she eventually met Nate and they quickly married.

Despite -or because- all that's happened, the trauma of separation from her mother sits deep, and after losing Nate she was determined not to go through that again once she recovered Shaun. Thus she did not hesitate to turn on her former allies in the Brotherhood of Steel, whom she saw, in any case, as a mere means to an end. Years of practice in compartementalising and rationalising her actions mean that she is willing to do the Institute's dirty work without questions or complaints.

In combat, she relies on both rifles and pistols, weakening enemy formations from afar with a Gauss rifle before storming in and dispatching the remains with rapid fire from the Deliverer or a laser pistol, the respective perk points are maxed out. She eschews the use of VATS, priding herself on her marksmanship practised on frequent visits to the shooting range before the Great War. Audrey is also a gifted chemist creating potent chems both for emotional release and use in combat. As the headline suggests, she comes to think of herself as one of the Institute's Coursers. She wears a Courser uniform upgraded with ballistic weave and enters her suit of power armour only for the most dangerous missions, otherwise preferring to rely on stealth and speed. She possesses a hardy physique that allows her to keep up with her comrades and win their respect - though they frown on her chem habit.

It is either the result of her traumatising childhood or a congenital personality disorder that she is quick to resort to violence, lies or threats, being easily angered and at times sadistic. She is also prone to self-medicate with drugs and alcohol. While not being amoral per se and not above helping people, she is self-serving and hypocritical in her outlook. She will frequently be found on the rooftops of her Greygarden homestead, staring into the distance and listening to the Hi Honey! holotape. But it is best not to approach her, as she will, rather irresponsibly, cope with her frustration by inhaling jet and firing into the air.

Post image

I finished or almost finished my first dialogue and the game has given me 21 free stat point, what's the best build to play this game to the fullest considering that I bought the Goty edition of the game?

Is the build truly important? to play the game to the fullest are some build limiting interaction in fighting, quest and the overall gameplay?

what are the perks?

I think this setup should make the early game as optimized as possible. I'm using no V.A.T.S. and going strictly for survival mode utility optimization to make the early game as easy as possible. Maybe it would be a helpful setup to someone else. Maybe. Lmk what you guys think.

Melee Melee without PA,all melee mods

I'm looking to do a build focused entirely on Melee without using power armor. However,I also want to be able to access all the melee weapon mods, which I know will also require Science. I need an outline of what to level in what order, along with S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats.

If it changes anything,I want to use the Chainsaw from the Murdering Chainsaws mod as my main weapon. Works like the Mr.Handy Buzzsaw Blade, but more modifications.

The Paranoid Ozzy build.

My take on a Power Armor - non survival Stealth Sniper(ish). It IS until you get the intended weapon, then, maybe not so much except for the alpha strike. Honestly pretty bog standard, it's certainly not reinventing the wheel, but I have a pacing in my builds that dictates when I like things to come online. Others may feel they are "too late" or not enough. This can be taken as an outline, then, for your ideas on how you'd like to try one.

He started pretty strong and ended up being fairly silly in or out of power armor once I had the final tier of Railroad ballistic weave.

The Atom's Judgement makes me want to build around it... just stupid fun to use :) I was a die hard Rockville Slugger melee builder but now? I gotta see what's what, so eventually I'll get that going.

Sniper Any pointers for a survivalist build?

I want to play on survival and most online builds seem to not go for that.

I wanted a long range, Dogmeat only, suppressed sniper that sneakily picks off enemies and can survive in the wasteland (lead belly, maybe even aquaboy)

Anyone has a build? I could start from the Hunter from FMuppet and explore from that but i didn't play in years.

Intelligence Who should I side with in my first Survival playthrough?

Challenges I've put for myself in this playthrough

I have to get every settlement and build them up to be powerful.

Must get every companion and max affinity

I must get 10 in every SPECIAL stat

I must complete all DLC

I must max out all weapon perks, along with modifications perks.

I must spend a good amount of time with each faction.

I must do side quests for factions if I get good rewards

I must collect as much CC content as possible

Sneak It's time for a Gen X run.

I've made a new build that's taking it back to basics, more or less. No game mods, just appearance and environmental mods because I like the game to look a certain way, sue me, heh.

The flair is Sneak because that's the tie that binds the two modes together.

Why Gen X?

Settlements will be helped, and given just enough to survive, but that's it, they're on their own.

Companions are only around long enough to give me their perk, then they get shelved.

If I need assistance with damage, Ada will be the damage add, but I don't foresee that being an issue with this build.

This is obviously a non survival run as I'm not taking chemist or local leader.

The only niggle that gave me pause in the build was the notion of trading out Aquaboy/girl and the 3rd rank of hacker for 2 ranks of scrounger. We'll see how that plays out.

Charisma Survival Pacifier

This build is designed to use the pacification perks in survival mode, playing into Nora’s lawyer background as charismatic and intelligent. Gun choice is wide open with these stats, but I’m going full auto this time around. My goal is to try and focus on the main story, I have been playing basically since launch and have not yet actually beaten this game. I love to pop in and live in the post apocalypse for a while before I get bored and either restart to change my build or play something else, but it’s well past time to finish the story at least once.

S2+, P1, E5, C10, I6, A3, L1

Strength 3 is pretty mandatory in my survival builds for armorer.

Since I’m not focusing on vats perception doesn’t matter. With the easy bobblehead rifleman is available, though for this play through I’m going commando.

Endurance 5 for aquagirl to get to the railroad early and general utility. It’s not a pacifist build, but it’s nice to avoid some fights by safely swimming.

My highest priority perks are to pacify all the living creatures of the wasteland. I haven’t decided if I want to build settlements up with local leader or mostly ignore them this time, when I build settlements it distracts me the point that my adhd restartitis kicks in and I abandon the play through to start all over again so I probably won’t bother with them. I plan to take party girl when I have spare points just for fun, I like to think Nora was a partier in college. I also plan to take inspiration and maybe black widow when I have spare points.

From intelligence I’m taking gun nut for convenience and a couple levels of hacker, plus chemist once I get the bobblehead (useful and plays into the partier background headcannon). If I go into the mechanist dlc I may invest another point to take robotics expert to shut down robots in addition to all the organic pacifying.

I’m taking commando since I usually play with rifles or pistols, so it’s nice to change it up. Also enough stealth not to have to worry about mines because sometimes I encounter a glitch where the mine is inaccessible under ground but still blows me up. It’s also nice to sneakily incite a raider to start fighting his buddies.

Stat Help Minuteman build help.

Hello, I have ask this before however I want to ask again this time with more light. I want to make a minuteman crit build that uses vats, but low agility stat cause i dont need to hit multiple targets in vats with laser musket since you need to crank it fully outside of vats. So far its s:3,p:6,e:1,c:5,i:5,a:1,l:6. Eventually I'll get the bobbleheads so I can use science, commando for my secondary, local leader and special book for perception for sniper. I dont know if I should fix it up or not cause I would like to try to use missile launchers and strongback but I dont know if lowering percection to demolition is still great for what im going for.

Intelligence The Executive Overseer

ST: 2 PE: 3 EN: 5 CH: 6 IN: 9 AG: 1 LU: 2

No offense to Fudgemuppet, the legends that they are - but their Overseer build is objectively terrible.

Minutemen this. Brotherhood that. Where is the Vault-Tec executive carving out industry, profit, and absolute corporate dominance from the ruins of the Commonwealth?

Right here.

The Executive Overseer.

"The wasteland isn't waiting to be saved, scavver. It's waiting to be managed."

THE ROLEPLAY

Much like his good-natured counterpart, Lucy MacLean, The Executive Overseer was born within a Vault long after the bombs fell. His father was the Overseer before him. His grandfather was the Overseer before him. Somewhere along the way, the family tree became less of a genealogy-oak and more of a corporate org chart.

They were Vault-Tec employees, of course. Secretly.

Everyone else got the usual Vault-Tec experience: ration cards, mandatory meetings, suspiciously cheerful posters, and the occasional psychological experiment they weren't supposed to know about.

His family got the other side of the experience. Namely, the paperwork.

For generations, they had been responsible for keeping the Vault running while quietly conducting Vault-Tec's tests behind closed doors. Population management. Behavioral studies. Resource allocation. Whatever the good people at corporate headquarters wanted measured, his family made sure it got measured.

Naturally, he was raised for the job.

He learned commerce, negotiation, logistics, and resource management alongside the more useful subjects. Like, espionage, infiltration, corporate sabotage, intelligence gathering, and the delicate art of convincing someone that their idea was yours all along!

His father taught him a simple lesson early:

Everything has a price. The trick is making sure you're the one collecting it.

By the time he was old enough to understand what Vault-Tec actually was, he already understood what mattered.

Resources were power.
Information was leverage.
And people were, regrettably, an expense.

What You Get From the Build!

Strength: 2

A Strength of 2 gets us Armorer, because even executives need to understand the importance of protecting company ass-ets. See what I did there? We're not exactly built for hauling refrigerators across the Commonwealth, but that's what employees are for.

Perception: 3

Perception 3 gives us Locksmith, ensuring that no locked door, safe, or conveniently abandoned corporate asset stands between us and its eventual acquisition. Why leave profitable resources behind when you can simply jimmy the door? Honestly, they're asking for it to be stolen if security is this lacking.

Endurance: 5

We're not exactly the toughest person in the Commonwealth, but we come from healthy stock. More importantly, Chem Resistant keeps us from developing the sort of embarrassing chemical dependency usually associated with cliche men of middle management. We've all seen American Psycho.

Charisma: 6

Of course we have Charisma. Six points, in fact. We didn't survive generations of corporate management by being unpleasant to work with.

Combined with the You're SPECIAL! book and the Charisma Bobblehead, this opens up Cap Collector, Local Leader, and, naturally, Inspiration. After all, if we're going to build an empire, someone has to manage the interns. And we're not about to get dirt under our finger nails.

Intelligence: 9

Gosh, we're smart.

Smart enough to understand that getting shot in the head is generally considered a poor business decision. That's why Nuclear Physicist is essential. Power Armor keeps us protected, gives us a considerable advantage over your average raider or Super Mutant, and allows us to approach hostile negotiations with considerably more confidence.

Find the Intelligence Bobblehead, and Nerd Rage! becomes another excellent addition.

Even without it, Intelligence 9 gives us access to Hacker, Science!, and Gun Nut—because an executive should never have to outsource everything. Either way, we're leveling at lightning speeds. Hacker when combined with Locksmith ensures you're never forced to take the long way around, while keeping you swimming in stock worth moving.

Agility: 1

We don't run. We don't like to run.

Running produces sweat, and sweat is generally a sign that someone else should be doing the work. Fortunately, the Agility Bobblehead brings us to 2, unlocking Commando. Because while executives don't run, they can certainly run you down in a hail of gun-fire.

Luck: 2

We make a  Bloody Mess after finding the Bobblehead, providing a much-needed boost to our damage over all output. Can't let the minimum wagers have all the fun, am I right?

Faction Choice: The Institute.

"I leave the science to the little men in their white lab coats. They're no Enclave, but the Brotherhood of Steel . . . they'd be a much bigger issue. The enemy of my enemy, as the saying goes, is good business."

This is, quite obviously, a Vault 88-style build, but I've been pleasantly surprised by just how well it performs throughout the expansions.

If you're committing to the Vault-Tec executive roleplay, Vault 88 is practically mandatory. It's less of a settlement and more of an opportunity to finally put all those questionable family teachings into practice. After all, Vault-Tec didn't spend two centuries developing unethical experiments just for us to ignore the opportunity.

As for the DLC order, I'd recommend the Mechanist first.

Not only does it fit the character beautifully, but upgrading Codsworth into an advanced Vault-Tec death machine does wonders for our early combat capabilities. Give him a suitably excessive arsenal, turn him loose on the Commonwealth, and suddenly our impeccably dressed executive has a very effective field employee handling the unpleasantness.

Why risk getting your suit dirty when you can simply send the robot?

It's what delegation is for.

Weapon: Overseer's Guardian.

Two-shots for the price of one? Can't beat that economy!

Armor: Combat Armor with Vault Tec Paint

Stylish and protective. I personally put a ton of charisma onto the armor, it gave massive discounts and let me talk my way through just about everything. If, like me, you rock a mod that allows you to add legendary effects to your Power Armor, I suggest going full intellect. This means outside of armor, you sell well and have got a silver tongue. In the power armor, in combat, you're gaining massive amounts of exp.

That about does it. I know, this is super long winded. Thank you, if you made it this far.

Sniper Advice on a perception build

ive played fo4 for a while now but never done a rifleman build instead doing gun slinger and commando, with but the idea of snipers appeal to me so I'm wondering what a good build for this could be,i play survival, i don't use mods and i use vats every now and then. also while i think finding a good spot and sniping from a far will be very fun i'm worried about indoor sections being lame though a shotgun could be fun and i've heard a scoped one can knock people down with the sniper perk
