Help for Seller SKU and Packing List

• Upvotes

How can I get the SKU on my packing list? I have a lot of OOAK that are similar but not the same. When I run packing lists for packer, she has to try to determine which one to pack from the little picture. There must be a way to add the SKU, but I can’t find it.

Discussion Reviews

• Upvotes

I know there are both buyers and sellers on this thread. So I have a question about reviews. As a seller, they are very important, especially when you are starting out. I know Etsy sends automated messages about leaving reviews, which may irritate customers. But that is Etsy, not the sellers. I am wondering, if you are happy with a product, why don't you leave a good review? It helps sellers by making customers more likely to buy from them. Is there something a seller can do that will make you more likely to leave one?

Help for Buyer Left a bad review and seller tries to get me to change it for a partial refund

Post image
8 Upvotes

This is an update on a past post, so for context; Seller did not ship a vintage dress I purchased. After the last estimated delivery date, I left multiple messages asking about my order with no response after 48 hours (despite them being active).

I followed the advice on my first post and submitted a help request. After another 48 hours, the seller did not respond to my request for a refund. So, I left a bad review (1 star) and went to start a case. However, Esty will not let me start one until the 22nd because I have not received my order.

Today the seller messaged about my review. They just shipped my order and are offering a partial refund if I change my review to 4 stars. Which would be $30 off a $200 purchase. They are also lying (from what I can tell) about Etsy closing 3-star shops. The issue is I no longer want the dress. Their service was terrible, they are trying to guilt me, and I don't think the dress is even gonna make it in time for the day I need it. I just want my money back.

I will not be changing my review (if anything I'll add this additional info). But can I still continue my case and include the seller's response, now that they have begun the shipping process? What is the proper way to let Etsy know this seller is trying to get me to change my review for a refund?

Help for Seller Digital download delivery help

Hi-
For those of you who sell digital downloads (photos), if you email the files directly to your buyer’s email, instead of using the upload/download option on the Etsy, how do you let Etsy “know” it’s been delivered so the buyer can then leave feedback?

Help for Seller Fur ban - appeal against over-zealous robots?

Hullo! I sell memorial jewellery and keepsakes using pet fur/hair, and one of my bestsellers fell victim to the sweeping robots following the rule change on fur products. I should note that I only work with shaved, clipped or collected hair - I do not wish for any part of the pet to be included 😆

I've had a go at my listings, rewording the titles somewhat (they're clunky and horrible now but eh), but with that listing down I've lost all its history, reviews etc, which seems a shame. It says there's no way to appeal that decision, but I'm wondering if anyone in a similar boat (fibre artists?) has had any success requesting a human review and sense check?

I haven't bothered yet because I'm a pessimist and it doesn't seem likely, but I'm curious. If I could get it back, I'd like to. I can see why it got flagged, but also I'm pretty certain if a human were to look at it they'd know I'm not trading in animal skins 🫤

I'd also like a definitive answer what terminology is going to get auto-nerfed as well, but I've not been able to find anything. Any thoughts appreciated!

Help for Buyer Your experience with buying engagement ring

Hello yall! I’ll keep it short - I asked my husband to get me an engagement since I never really got one. I found a really good seller that does upcycling and sells rings for way below the price I was going for but does not give any certificates. What are your experiences on buying natural stones/diamond on this platform? I don’t want to get scammed but I also don’t want to pay 2k for my ring lol
Thank you!

Discussion First Time Using Etsy

So I am hoping to get a commission for a certain art style. I had asked the girl what to purchase. She initially told me to purchase one package. After talking more, she said that I should’ve chosen a second package. She will need me to purchase more for her to complete it. Upon paying for the second package, she told me that my design would look so much better if I purchased a third package including the background. Is this normal on Etsy? Especially for those who are doing commissions for drawings? I declined because the first instance of me purchasing a second package left a bad taste in my mouth. I would never think of using AI to create what I wanted created, but now I noticed that she hadn’t followed a request for drawing. She moved to the coloring part and said that it’s nearly impossible for her to go back to add to it. At this point, I’ve paid you for two packages and you didn’t take note of the details I’d wanted included and then now I’m feeling hopeless. Either way, is this normal ? Did I just pick a bad person to do my drawing?

Help for Buyer Full Refund?

TLDR: Purchased a custom veil on Etsy from the states, ended up receiving a drop shipped one from china, seller offered cost of item back minus shipping, should I get my shipping back? Item is not even worth the shipping costs.

I purchased a veil for my wedding on Friday on 10/11. Really short window of time (family medical problems), but the seller is just two states away. I wrote them asking if they could possibly swing making the veil and shipping it before Friday came. I also explained my situation for the late order. Seller asked for $50 extra to guarantee it would come by the correct date. I figured I'd risk it and just order it without, let her know I was risking it and to just put it in the mail when she could, if it came it came, if it didn't, then it didn't. Seller then asked for $25 and said we would split the cost of shipping. I thought they were amazing, I was so excited. Yesterday a package arrived all the way from China. I was confused, I had ordered everything locally. It was the veil and it looked similar but nothing like the sheer delicate fabric the picture showed. It bunched at the top where the comb was sewn and looked altogether different than the pictures. I realized the pictures weren't real, neither was the veil. I messaged the seller, let them know how enthused I had been, how I received a package from China for it, how it was nothing like it should have been and I wanted to return it for a refund. They offered to refund the veil and told me to keep it (by now I have ordered alternatives from Amazon, there's no saving that thing). I didn't know sellers on Etsy drop shipped. Seller now says they usually ship from the state but on rush orders from China. Long story short, they don't make their own products. I'm curious what you think, should I accept just the refund for the item or ask for the shipping back too. I would like the extra $25.00 back, that veil is useless and quite frankly $25.00 should have been the cost of the veil altogether from a site like Amazon.

Help for Seller Shipping in the US from Germany

Hi everyone,

I’m a new Etsy seller from Germany (just started a couple of months ago) selling handmade 3D textured canvas art. A lot of the interest in my work comes from the US, but shipping there is a real problem for me right now. As a small seller without a business account, the prices I’m getting for single packages are very high, often more than the artwork itself.

For other German sellers (or anyone shipping from Europe): how do you handle shipping to the US? Do you use a specific service or platform? How do you deal with duties and the DDP requirement, and do you build the cost into your prices or charge shipping separately?

Any tips for someone just getting started would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Help for Seller Multiple listings removed for “off-platform transactions” since October 14 — anyone else?

Hi everyone. I sell editable digital invitation and stationery templates, and since October 14, Etsy has removed 12 listings from one of my shops for alleged off-platform transactions. Now the same thing is happening in my second shop, where three listings have been removed.
These are older listings, not newly published or recently edited ones. They’re different products, and I can’t identify a common trigger. I haven’t directed buyers to purchase or pay outside Etsy.
Some listings mentioned Prints of Love, which initially made me wonder whether that was the issue. However, the latest removed listing has no printing company name, external link, coupon, email address, or social media handle in its description. It simply says buyers can print at home, at a local print shop, or through their preferred online printing service.
I’ve appealed every removal and contacted support, but they haven’t identified the specific content causing the violations. They said the case was escalated and that I would receive an email.
Has anyone else experienced this over the past week, particularly with digital templates or older listings? Has anyone received a specific explanation or had a listing reinstated after an appeal?
I’m worried about further removals when I don’t know what needs correcting. I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

For Sellers: Shipping how to properly write a Chinese address on envelope

Hello I shipped a sticker to a customer in China a month ago (I'm from the U.S.) and whenever I have an international order I just copy and paste their address into my own program (after confirming with them that the address is correct) and ship with an international stamp to save money for the customer. This hasn't ever went poorly for me except with this order, a month later the customer still hasn't received it and I'm worried it's because the address is in Chinese and that may have caused it to get lost? I copy and pasted it exactly how it shows up in Etsy like normal but it was my first time shipping something that had unique characters in it from another language and the first time I ever shipped anything to China. I'm offering the customer a replacement because it's not a big deal for me to do, my stickers are cheap, but is there something I must make sure I'm doing right with the address before shipping this off? The customer verified that the address is correct.

Help for Buyer Digital pet portraits that are not AI?

Does anyone have any recommendations of sellers that hand draw digital pet portraits, preferably watercolour? I’m having a hard time finding any that are not AI and the ones that are hand drawn do not offer a digital version. Thank you in advance!

Discussion What happened to the "you may also like" feature?

Hi all, apologies if this has already been discussed, I just can't find anything about it when I've searched the sub and honestly googling it hasn't helped either. I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done, but if there is, I thought I'd ask here.

Recently I've noticed that when I look at an item listing and scroll down to where it displays similar items with the title "you may also like", if I click "see more", it doesn't take me to the usual page full of similar listings. Instead it takes me to a dumb AI chatbot that doesn't display anything at all unless I chat with it! I don't want to use an AI chatbot, it seems like a totally useless downgrade from the old helpful straightforward page of listings.

I don't care if it will generate me results if I interact with it - I don't want to interact with the AI at all, because I have strong ethical issues with the environmental impact of genAI. I don't want Etsy to see my engagement and assume that I want more AI. In fact, if anybody knows of a way to give feedback on this feature, I would LOVE to tell Etsy exactly how much I dislike this change.

Sorry for venting a bit of frustration, I hope y'all can understand that I am just disappointed to see yet another change for the worse.

To get to the point, my question is: Does anybody know if there's a way AROUND the chatbot to still see similar listings? Thank you so much!

Discussion As a buyer, how long do you wait before reaching out ?

Hi everyone,

I am pretty new to Etsy, and recently ordered an item on Saturday afternoon. At the time of purchase, I sent a message saying that I was excited for the item and asked a question about product specifications. Would it be acceptable for me to reach out tomorrow evening if I still have not heard anything back? I wasn't expecting anything over the weekend, but I'm not sure how much longer I should wait before I send a follow-up. Etsy says their response time is usually 24-48hrs. From what I gathered before buying, this is a reputable seller with many great reviews and sales, but the item was a bit pricey so I am worried.

Thank you for any advice

Help for Seller Can't buy USPS First Class International anymore with my normal package dimensions

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've sold many of these to Canadian customers and always use the same package dimensions. I had someone purchase one and paid their USPS calculated ~$18 for postage, but it's greyed out now in Etsy for me and says the Height cannot be less than 4 inches. My boxes are 7x3x1 and I've just never had this problem before, and it doesn't appear to be a new USPS rule or anything, so I'm not sure how to proceed. I don't ship a ton internationally, I just have Canada and US enabled for shipping.

I can't change the dimensions to 1x3x7 in etsy as it says the largest number needs to be set to the Length.

Any advise would be great. Thanks!

Help for Buyer Don’t Buy From Etsy — Their Buyer Protection Is a Joke, and They Side With Sellers Even When Products Are Not as Described

I wanted to share my recent experience with Etsy because I genuinely believe buyers should think twice before purchasing anything from this platform.
I purchased an item for over $130.

After purchasing, I discovered that the product had significant limitations that weren’t clearly represented in the listing. I contacted the seller before the order shipped and requested cancellation. The seller refused and shipped it anyway.

When the product arrived, it was even worse than expected.

The item was unstable, couldn’t function as advertised, and felt incredibly cheap. The materials were flaking off, and the actual dimensions didn’t match what was advertised. The seller even acknowledged during the dispute that information stated in the listing was inaccurate.

I asked etsy for help but they sided with the buyer. The analogy is if you buy a new car and it doesn’t actually work, you should get your money back and should be able to return, in my case cancel.

Help for Buyer Is ETSY Sign-Up BROKEN?!? Can't exchange broken Item!

I just want to create an account. I bought something and it came broken, so I wanted to contact the seller, but Etsy wants me to sin-in/up. I try, but it won't let me. It just keeps saying "An error has occurred. Try again later. Well, I have, multiple times: On PC, on phone, on tablet, at my sister's house, on her computer, I've let 3 days go by, trying different things every day and I can't get it to work. Is it me? Is Etsy broken? Am I doing something wrong? I just want to get my item replaced. I thought I would buy more stuff topo, but after this, I might just never come back to Etsy. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Help for Buyer Looking for custom graphic tshirt printing, but not the plastic-y kind!

I want to get some tshirts made with a custom logo, but I want the tshirts and graphics to be soft. I know to look for shirts like Comfort Colors or Bella + Canvas. And I think that means avoiding direct-to-film printing so that I'm not getting that hard, crunchy, plastic-y feeling, but would love someone to confirm that and tell me what I should search instead! And if there are any specific recommendations for shops that can provide this, please let me know!

Discussion Is Etsy hopelessly full of fake stuff?

I guess I let my guard drop after years of feeling like I can navigate the internets safely.
I was looking for some cheap (as in not gold and not expensive gemstones) jewelry that doesn't seem to exist locally in my country, and somehow landed on Etsy with vague memory of it being a place where people sell that kind of stuff.
I mean, basic neclace pendant with a labradorite, what can go wrong? Shit's from India, internet says India is legit country when it comes to jewelry making, it's just silver with an inexpensive stone, it's relatively small item, so cca $30 equivalent sounds reasonable. Fake discounts, hm, that's everywhere, let's do it.
Then I sent the link to a friend and she was instantly like "you got fucked over, this has AI generated photos, Temu is full of junk like that, my stupid mother keeps buying that sort of stuff all the time".
I took a deep breath and thought for a while, looked again, and then saw all the red flags...

Just for reference, this is what I ordered: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4535439498/blue-labradorite-pendant-marquise

I also ordered this but it hasn't shipped yet so I'm trying to have the order cancelled: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4560002020/sterling-silver-owl-pendant-necklace

I guess I am an idiot and deserved to get scammed.

Help for Seller AI human mock ups for clothing?

Hello, new to Etsy.

Wanted to know if it's legal to use AI generated human mock ups for clothing. Of course I am trying my very best that the clothing is accurately reflected in those images from size down to texture.

What are the official rules? I couldn't find anything.
