I ordered a cosplay from a seller in Ukraine and it started shipping on September 25th. Since then it has left the country is now in transit from the Netherlands. It’s been in transit for about a week now. I live in the UK, and I need this cosplay for an event this week. Is there any chance my parcel will still arrive?

Discussion As a buyer, how long do you wait before reaching out ?

Hi everyone,

I am pretty new to Etsy, and recently ordered an item on Saturday afternoon. At the time of purchase, I sent a message saying that I was excited for the item and asked a question about product specifications. Would it be acceptable for me to reach out tomorrow evening if I still have not heard anything back? I wasn't expecting anything over the weekend, but I'm not sure how much longer I should wait before I send a follow-up. Etsy says their response time is usually 24-48hrs. From what I gathered before buying, this is a reputable seller with many great reviews and sales, but the item was a bit pricey so I am worried.

Thank you for any advice

Help for Buyer Full Refund?

TLDR: Purchased a custom veil on Etsy from the states, ended up receiving a drop shipped one from china, seller offered cost of item back minus shipping, should I get my shipping back? Item is not even worth the shipping costs.

I purchased a veil for my wedding on Friday on 10/11. Really short window of time (family medical problems), but the seller is just two states away. I wrote them asking if they could possibly swing making the veil and shipping it before Friday came. I also explained my situation for the late order. Seller asked for $50 extra to guarantee it would come by the correct date. I figured I'd risk it and just order it without, let her know I was risking it and to just put it in the mail when she could, if it came it came, if it didn't, then it didn't. Seller then asked for $25 and said we would split the cost of shipping. I thought they were amazing, I was so excited. Yesterday a package arrived all the way from China. I was confused, I had ordered everything locally. It was the veil and it looked similar but nothing like the sheer delicate fabric the picture showed. It bunched at the top where the comb was sewn and looked altogether different than the pictures. I realized the pictures weren't real, neither was the veil. I messaged the seller, let them know how enthused I had been, how I received a package from China for it, how it was nothing like it should have been and I wanted to return it for a refund. They offered to refund the veil and told me to keep it (by now I have ordered alternatives from Amazon, there's no saving that thing). I didn't know sellers on Etsy drop shipped. Seller now says they usually ship from the state but on rush orders from China. Long story short, they don't make their own products. I'm curious what you think, should I accept just the refund for the item or ask for the shipping back too. I would like the extra $25.00 back, that veil is useless and quite frankly $25.00 should have been the cost of the veil altogether from a site like Amazon.

Help for Seller Shipping in the US from Germany

Hi everyone,

I’m a new Etsy seller from Germany (just started a couple of months ago) selling handmade 3D textured canvas art. A lot of the interest in my work comes from the US, but shipping there is a real problem for me right now. As a small seller without a business account, the prices I’m getting for single packages are very high, often more than the artwork itself.

For other German sellers (or anyone shipping from Europe): how do you handle shipping to the US? Do you use a specific service or platform? How do you deal with duties and the DDP requirement, and do you build the cost into your prices or charge shipping separately?

Any tips for someone just getting started would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Help for Seller Can't buy USPS First Class International anymore with my normal package dimensions

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've sold many of these to Canadian customers and always use the same package dimensions. I had someone purchase one and paid their USPS calculated ~$18 for postage, but it's greyed out now in Etsy for me and says the Height cannot be less than 4 inches. My boxes are 7x3x1 and I've just never had this problem before, and it doesn't appear to be a new USPS rule or anything, so I'm not sure how to proceed. I don't ship a ton internationally, I just have Canada and US enabled for shipping.

I can't change the dimensions to 1x3x7 in etsy as it says the largest number needs to be set to the Length.

Any advise would be great. Thanks!

For Sellers: Shipping how to properly write a Chinese address on envelope

Hello I shipped a sticker to a customer in China a month ago (I'm from the U.S.) and whenever I have an international order I just copy and paste their address into my own program (after confirming with them that the address is correct) and ship with an international stamp to save money for the customer. This hasn't ever went poorly for me except with this order, a month later the customer still hasn't received it and I'm worried it's because the address is in Chinese and that may have caused it to get lost? I copy and pasted it exactly how it shows up in Etsy like normal but it was my first time shipping something that had unique characters in it from another language and the first time I ever shipped anything to China. I'm offering the customer a replacement because it's not a big deal for me to do, my stickers are cheap, but is there something I must make sure I'm doing right with the address before shipping this off? The customer verified that the address is correct.

Help for Buyer Digital pet portraits that are not AI?

Does anyone have any recommendations of sellers that hand draw digital pet portraits, preferably watercolour? I’m having a hard time finding any that are not AI and the ones that are hand drawn do not offer a digital version. Thank you in advance!

Help for Seller Multiple listings removed for “off-platform transactions” since October 14 — anyone else?

Hi everyone. I sell editable digital invitation and stationery templates, and since October 14, Etsy has removed 12 listings from one of my shops for alleged off-platform transactions. Now the same thing is happening in my second shop, where three listings have been removed.
These are older listings, not newly published or recently edited ones. They’re different products, and I can’t identify a common trigger. I haven’t directed buyers to purchase or pay outside Etsy.
Some listings mentioned Prints of Love, which initially made me wonder whether that was the issue. However, the latest removed listing has no printing company name, external link, coupon, email address, or social media handle in its description. It simply says buyers can print at home, at a local print shop, or through their preferred online printing service.
I’ve appealed every removal and contacted support, but they haven’t identified the specific content causing the violations. They said the case was escalated and that I would receive an email.
Has anyone else experienced this over the past week, particularly with digital templates or older listings? Has anyone received a specific explanation or had a listing reinstated after an appeal?
I’m worried about further removals when I don’t know what needs correcting. I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Help for Buyer Digital download feedback issue help

Hi—- I purchase a lot of digital download files (photographs/prints) from Etsy. Every single time, I pay and then in a few minutes or up to a day, the files show up in the Digital Downloads section of the site. It’s easy. They download and then I can leave feedback and it’s always been a good experience.

Problem: one seller messaged me asking for my email after I placed a digital download order. She said she would email the files. Well, when I got them, they were junk. Pixelated, bad AI, terrible. I didn’t mention this to her and still have not.

I checked on Etsy and I can leave feedback on EVERY order except that one. Weird. It also says the order is “still in the works” and Etsy will let me know when my files are ready.

I ask Etsy and they tell me that the seller hasn’t alerted them the files are ready (doesn’t apply here if she is emailing them), or hasn’t alerted them that I have received my order.

I message the seller and tell her that I want to leave feedback, but it won’t let me. I send her screen shots. She said it’s on my end.

Then it gets weirder. She has 200 sales and not a single feedback. Not one.

Well, I ask her if she can upload the files the proper way to the actual Etsy site so I can download them there like ALL my other orders. She says no and that she has been hacked doing that. I tell her I’m surprised because I would think doing it via Etsy would be more anonymous than sending it from her personal email. Also, she has my personal email. She disagrees. It doesn’t get heated. It’s civil.

I then tell her that the item description (and I sent her a screenshot) says that the downloads will be in the download section of the Etsy website after ordering. But hers don’t work that way. She then proceeds to tell me that if I look at her profile at the bottom of her profile, it says that her photos are only sent via email. I tell her that I didn’t go and read the details of her profile… I’m not really accustomed to doing that… I trusted the information that was on the item. She says I should have read the profile. OK, it’s still civil.

She also says in her profile, she could send them via the messaging section of the Etsy site. But again, refused the upload link area that everyone uses. So I asked her to do that, and she does. It’s still civil.

But here’s my conundrum, and here’s why I think she’s being shady… If she emails the files, Etsy doesn’t know when the order has been closed or received. That’s why I can’t leave feedback. That’s why no one on 200 sales has never left her any feedback. Who has 200 sales and has no feedback?

What can I do here? The items are junk AND she seems to be going about this totally unethically. There is NO way for anyone to know if she’s a good seller or not.

Help?

Discussion What happened to the "you may also like" feature?

Hi all, apologies if this has already been discussed, I just can't find anything about it when I've searched the sub and honestly googling it hasn't helped either. I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done, but if there is, I thought I'd ask here.

Recently I've noticed that when I look at an item listing and scroll down to where it displays similar items with the title "you may also like", if I click "see more", it doesn't take me to the usual page full of similar listings. Instead it takes me to a dumb AI chatbot that doesn't display anything at all unless I chat with it! I don't want to use an AI chatbot, it seems like a totally useless downgrade from the old helpful straightforward page of listings.

I don't care if it will generate me results if I interact with it - I don't want to interact with the AI at all, because I have strong ethical issues with the environmental impact of genAI. I don't want Etsy to see my engagement and assume that I want more AI. In fact, if anybody knows of a way to give feedback on this feature, I would LOVE to tell Etsy exactly how much I dislike this change.

Sorry for venting a bit of frustration, I hope y'all can understand that I am just disappointed to see yet another change for the worse.

To get to the point, my question is: Does anybody know if there's a way AROUND the chatbot to still see similar listings? Thank you so much!
