Could a culdocentesis (pouch of Douglas puncture) have affected an early pregnancy?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.
In 2022, I went to the emergency room because I had severe pain on my left side and hadn’t had my period for about two months. An ultrasound showed a large amount of fluid in my pouch of Douglas, and doctors suspected an ectopic pregnancy.
They performed a culdocentesis using a large needle through my vagina. It was extremely painful, but they said the fluid was normal.
After the procedure, a gynecologist examined me and said I appeared to have a normal pregnancy. A few weeks later, another ultrasound also suggested a very early pregnancy, but nothing was confirmed yet. They told me to return in a few weeks.
About two weeks later, I started bleeding heavily with clots, almost like a very heavy period. I never received a confirmed pregnancy diagnosis, and I remember having a negative pregnancy test at some point.
I’ve always wondered whether I had an early miscarriage or whether something else was happening.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Could a culdocentesis affect an early pregnancy or increase the risk of miscarriage?
I know nobody can diagnose what happened years ago, but I’d really appreciate hearing about similar experiences.

Ovulation after ectopic

Post image

Hi everyone,

I have had my left tube removed a little over two weeks ago (10/1), hcg was 1200, followed by a 5 day withdrawal bleed 5 days later. I felt like I caught the flu a couple of days ago and took Mucinex 1200mg at night, after that I had excessive EWCM, I honestly think I never had that amount before. I thoughts it’s due to Mucinex. Anyway, today, just out of curiosity I used an OPK and it was almost positive. Temps are steady low.

Has anyone experienced this before getting their period back? I usually don’t ovulate on myself, I have always had to use Letrozole..

I don’t want to get my hopes up but has anyone tracked after surgery and actually caught ovulation after?

Would love to hear some experiences.

Confused(vent-ish)

So I recently had surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. Turns out it wasnt ectopic from just looking at it from the inside and the surgery was for nothing. Now I dont know if I'm still pregnant, ectopic or what.

I have a blood test scheduled for monday but I guess since thr last test they did my hcg was still rising but they were concerned about a still possible ectopic pregnancy.

I am very stressed and very confused and in so much pain.

Has anyone got any tips/tricks. Had an ectopic in mafch 2025 and lost my left tube. Am I doing something wrong? At this point ive convinced myself its just not going to happen. Did anyone try anything weird and wonderful as a last ditch effort and conceive?

How long until test goes negative after surgery?

I would love to hear how long it took people to get a negative test after similar treatment to mine.

I had my right tube removed 3 weeks and 3 days ago when I was 7 weeks pregnant. I had an early scan that day because I had called with some concerns about intermittent bleeding. I was scanned, told it was ectopic, told it had to be surgery right away because there was a heartbeat and had surgery a few hours later. It had ruptured and there was internal bleeding but I hadn't noticed- just thought I was constipated. They told me after that there had been internal bleeding.

I took a test this morning as I was told to take one after 3 weeks and call the early pregnancy unit. There was a faint positive line. I can't call until tomorrow morning as it is emergencies only over the weekend.

How long until it should be negative? I don't think I was given mtx - nobody said so anyway - and my right tube was removed so surely there isn't anything left over. My tests up to the day of the surgery were very dark, very strong. This morning's was very faint. I was never told a number for hcg. I don't know if they bothered with that. If they did, they didn't tell me so I don't know where it started from or how long it should take.

I just need to feel like my body is back to normal.
