Self-Promotion I've been turning the D&D Monster Manual into free, 3D-printable meeples for tabletop games!

Hey everyone!

I'm a DM and 3D printing enthusiast, and I've been working on a little project called 3D20 that I thought some of you might enjoy.

I've always loved using miniatures in my games, but traditional minis can be expensive, take ages to print, and eventually become a nightmare to store. Not to mention I have a slight panic attack when my 6 year old picks them up, she isn't gentle with them!

So I started experimenting with an alternative: simple, recognisable monster silhouettes that are easy to print on an FDM printer without supports, don't need painting, and take up very little storage space, and cost next to nothing to print out :)

What started as a few designs has now turned into a project to work through the entire 2024 D&D Monster Manual, creating printable meeple versions of the creatures along the way.

I've also started branching out into player characters and simple terrain pieces.

All the models are free to download on MakerWorld, I'm doing this for the community (and If I get enough points on the way from prints to buy a better printer, lovely stuff!):

https://makerworld.com/en/collections/22733448-2024-monster-manual-meeples

I'm continuing to add new monsters each week, and I'd love to hear what other DMs and makers think of the concept.

Would you use something like this at your table, or do you prefer traditional miniatures?

And if there's a monster you'd particularly like to see as a meeple, let me know! I'll add it to the request list :)

Props 25mm CR2016 / LED Baseplate with Pressure Activation

Thumbnail

This is the BriteMinis Nezznar which you can find here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4326929

I scaled him up and to set him at 32mm at his eye level instead of the tip of his head. He's a big mini. Then I created different baseplate that activates the LED on press. These LEDs are really bright and having them on constantly can be blinding. There isn't anything special on the baseplate to achieve the pressure connect since it's just a loose fit so this might take some fiddling with to get working.

Link to the baseplate here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7110396

It's not perfect, takes some fiddling to get right so this is still very much a DnDIY project. In the last photo you can see some of the several dozen test baseplates I made to fit the CR2016 battery.

Help Are those tiny DIY miniature house kits actually dollhouses, or are they something else?

I keep seeing videos of people assembling these tiny, detailed rooms with working lights and microscopic books. But when you buy a DIY miniature house kit, are you actually building the whole structure from raw materials, or is it mostly gluing together pre-cut pieces like 3D-puzzle furniture? Is the main appeal the crafting process itself, or do people mostly use them as desk decor when they’re finished?

Self-Promotion A great RPG, your game in development, your story or your videos NEEDS this!

Hello everyone! It's me again! For those who don't know me, my name is Lucas, AKA Lusca. I started learning music at 7 years old because my dad was a musician.

Then when I was 10 or 13, 14 years I started making music. Horrible music I must say.

But now my dream of "living" from music is becoming a reality, step by step, little by little. I can't live off of this completely now, but, I know that with effort I'll get there!

So, A great RPG, game, story or video needs original music! Not some youtube free music but a handcrafted, no AI included music, that's what I do! I love my songs and put a lot of effort to deliver the best results! I made a 1:30min song in, i think, 7 or 8 hours... So... LOTS of effort!

But the GM liked it very very much!

So if you need an original music for your RPG Campaign, for your game that you are developing, for a story you want to create or for your videos on youtube/movie, please, PLEASE, talk to me on DISCORD, I'll help you out happly!

My DISCORD is: Lusca.cantor

Prices start at $20 USD

(I live in brazil so $20 is a lot here, that's why it is cheaper!)

There I can send you a link of my portfolio for you to take a look! I don't want to put it here so the post don't get banned.

Thanks yall!

Have a great week!

Hope to talk to you soon!

Self-Promotion Masterful Dungeon Tiles Update [OC]

Thumbnail

I am almost done with the recreation of my Dungeon Tiles.
Version 2 is going to be be the best I have ever made.

  • Fully modular - A small collection of core pieces can build everything, with variants for aestethic or specialist purposes
  • Sturdy - Build whole rooms/buildings/dungeons/towns and move them as complete sets or split them as you like
  • Use clips and magnets interchangeably
  • A unique wall system with versatility - Place walls where you want, prioritizing space for minis or easy builds. Walls can be places on top of tiles or in between
  • Many more features

And in this latest video I announce my biggest undertaking yet: A fully digital Dungeon Builder with my tiles as the foundation. Build your own dungeons, print the pieces, or play in the dungeon online with your friends.

Minis/Tokens Tales From the Side Track Inn: Blood is thicker than Ale

Recently posted my concept for a tavern scene as a quest board for one shots between campaigns. Here are recent minis made into a scene of two pairs of brothers with some prompts I came up with. Disclosure: I’ve never DM’d and barely started playing D&D so this may be a dumb idea and not how it works at all. It’s been really hard for my group to meet up so just filling the time between trying to learn and get the courage to run something one day. I Invite all suggestions and constructive criticisms since I’m just solo’ing this with help from books and YouTube😅

The Copperbelly Brothers - some drown their sorrows in barrels of ale, some fight them.
Once a legendary fighter, older brother Brokk has never been the same after the slaughter of his company at Moonstone Gap. Now he drowns his troubles in ale and picks fights with anything that looks at him sideways, including furniture. His younger brother Doben, now the captain of the town guard spends his days cleaning up Brokk’s messes which includes an open tab here at the Side Track Inn….for all the barrels he busts and climbs into each night. At least it makes him easier to roll home once he passes out. Tonight, Doben can barely get his first ale before Brokk is already squaring up with a barrel; but Doben knows under all these drunken antics lies a painful secret about the battle that destroyed his brother’s company and his desperate attempts to forget it all.

The Timbletwick Twins: Matt has the brains, Morrick has the limbs, together they almost make one whole Timbletwick..almost. Orphaned as children, twin brothers Matt and Morrick have survived by combining Matt’s sharp wit and Morricks brutish strength. Years ago, Matt lost his limbs saving Morrick in a magical accident in an abandoned artificers workshop. Since then Morrick carries his brother from town to town, barely scraping a living together through odd jobs and clever schemes. Through it all, the brothers are inseparable. Morrick still blames himself for Matt losing his limbs, Matt has never blamed him once. They own almost nothing but Matt insists he feels like the richest man alive and more complete than ever as long as Morrick is by his side. Tonight, Matt watches in amusement as Morrick triumphantly drinks from his boot after the bartender cut him off for the night. Neither realize that someone here tonight just might know of the machine responsible of Matt’s condition and that what’s now gone may not be lost forever.

Thanks for dropping by the Side Track Inn

My players loved it. I ended up scrapping the disc and just used a torso of a character as the screamer part of the vehicle. The last picture is my reference from the module. And I linked the original post https://www.reddit.com/r/DnDIY/s/BtX5RL18rO

3D Printed I liked that dungeon tile rubbing plate idea so much, I had to try it myself!

Thumbnail printables.com

A few weeks ago, someone shared a neat idea for making dungeon tiles by rubbing a printed plate with a crayon or pencil. But I wanted something I could use more generally, so I thought I'd try making just some grids that you could apply your own textures to, and figured 1in squares and hexagons would be a good place to start

Our DM is taking a DM break and a player now. So I am suddenly a DM and I absolutely still need to learn to not overdo things 😬. My three sessions so far had: terrain (which I had made before and our DM used), painted minis, physical props like a scroll, and a smoke machine...

Used coin holders with a wooden coin to put inside.. used a 1 inch circle punch and made some tokens!!

I also printed enemy art (so you can fold it into a triangle) and taped it to the bases.

Super easy, cheap, and reusable and changeable.

I highly recommend for any new DM who doesn’t have a ton to spend on minis.

Terrain Drow Stalactite Fortress Velkynvelve Assault

Running a sort of sequel to Out of the Abyss in my DnD 5.5e campaign. Did a few sessions with some fun DIY setups.

-Climbing up the cliff to infiltrate the fortress with a piece of sheet metal and spiders stuck to the side with magnets.

-A large setup with foam stone blocks and 3D printed suspension bridge, stalactite tower, TV map with a "hydroarcanical" dam, and the drider lair with hanging wire spider nest.
