Digital Painting GitHub - hyunwookshin/beautifulhash: Make boring hashes beautiful

I created a mystery function that turns any text ("hello world", your name, a random phrase) into a landscape image, and no not LLM generated.

f(any text) → landscape

Try it here: https://beautifulhash.com

If you discover some good images, share it below with the text you used!

It uses a SHA-256 hash as the bridge between text and artwork. The hash determines the details in the scene. https://github.com/hyunwookshin/beautifulhash/tree/main

Hey everyone, I'm working on a series of design walkthroughs to help new designers learn without Al.

The goal: Break down seemingly complex designs to see how a lot of simple things come together to create something professional.

I have posted 4 so far (all free) on my Patreon & I'm working on the 5th one this week!

Join if you want to see more of these tutorials + more content.

\I hope graphic design is close enough to be relevant here (I can take it down if not!)*

Questions / Help Animation & Shading advice?

I know these two are wildly different, but it's what I struggle with the most. I know - in theory - how to study anatomy. I can use real life photos as references, cubes etc.

But I have no idea how to properly study lighting and shading. Not like on backgrounds (though advice here would be appreciater too now that I think about it), but on characters. I know how the layer modes work and stuff, but to me it's pretty hard to study this from real life examples tbh. Any tips on how to improve shading and lighting?

And not the basics, I do believe I am somewhat well versed in that, but like some artists simply manage to UP their shading again. Sometimes with special gradients and.. well Idk, I have trouble figuring it out!

Second point is animation: How do you even start that as a total beginner??? I have no resources for a proper class (physics student), but I still want to learn a bit.

Any advice is appreciated!

Mod Announcement 📢 Hey everyone! Let's bring this sub back :)

Hey everyone!

I recently became a mod here and noticed this sub hasn't had much attention in a while. I'd love to help bring it back to life!

Over the next few days, I'll be updating a few things, like the banner, post flairs, and some community settings. Nothing too crazy, just trying to make this a better place for people to share tutorials, learn, and help each other improve.

But I'd also love to hear what you guys think.

What kind of content would you like to see more of? Drawing tutorials, digital painting, Blender, animation, beginner tips, maybe some weekly art challenges?

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome!

Hopefully we can get this place active again :)

Blender isn't just for 3D—its built-in 2D drawing and illustration tool (Grease Pencil) just got a major overhaul in 5.3. Learn how to draw with vector strokes, select without switching tools, carve shapes, and flip your canvas.
