Story Buyer raised an issue as “item not as described”

I purchased 6 jars from EBay. The seller discounts these because they are coming up on their “best by date”. I decided to list one because I knew I wouldn’t finish it before the best by date. I sold this for like $9.

In my picture, you can clearly see the dates. Also, I’ve been eating on the other jars and there is no weird smell and it still tastes fresh.

I refunded the money because I didn’t want a bad review. I’m relatively new to Depop and have a stellar rating. I’m just frustrated that this buyer basically claimed my listing was inaccurate.

Buying Help Has this ever happened to you?

Post image

Hi!

I’m sort of new to depop… but i’ve made 3 purchases in the last couple weeks and everything went perfectly! Loved my experience so far.. (i was nervous)
But anyway, I purchased this sweater, the sellers bio says he ships every other day. The app says he’s likely to ship every 2 days. Whatever. Not a big deal.
I wanted this originally for the 1st of November for pictures with my husbands family..
Anyway, I just had a baby and decided I want pictures done with her now. I had a hard time when she was a newborn so i slacked as a mom:/….I don’t want that experience with them first lol. so i booked earlier for next Tuesday for just My husband, daughter, and I. I just really wanna know if im gonna get this before tuesday….

I don’t have an update on anything shipping wise but they’re saying it shipped 3 hours ago and should be delivered tomorrow?? I find that really hard to believe unless depop is just glitching…..
Also sorry if it’s annoying, as a seller, that i messaged this soon, just wanted to know if i need to go buy a different sweater for tuesdays pictures.

TDLR; I want to know if shipping updates have ever glitched for you? This seller is telling me it shipped three hours ago and “should be” delivered tomorrow…. I don’t see that on my end. He’s verified, the app says he ships in two days but his bio says he ships every other.
edit: wording

Selling Help Post Previously taken down for being “counterfeit” … Should I repost?

Hi does anyone have any experience with Depop flagging an item as counterfeit but reposting it anyway? Worried about getting banned.

Basically I know these Coach heels are real and i have the serial code, although i didn’t photograph it in the first post, which is maybe where I went wrong. When I posted them about a month ago, it was taken down within minutes. I know it’s some kind of AI thing that flagged it probably. Well I appealed it and they asked for original receipt and what not which i don’t have so I just let it go.
Now some time has passed. I took new photos and was going to take the risk and post them again, but now I’m second guessing myself. I don’t want to get my account banned. I guess the obvious answer is don’t do it…. womp womp. thoughts? 🫣

Selling Help Easy Re-List After 60 Days (Web)

On the web interface, older listings are eligible to re-list after 60 days, using a simple discounting interface. It requires a 15% or greater price drop, and views/likes etc aren’t carried over (same as manual re-listing) but being able to do so in bulk is helpful and saves lots of time.

I hadn’t seen this feature discussed here, so thought I’d share!

Selling Help Majorly messed up an order's description

Post image
1 Upvotes

I was selling 4 Sanrio plushies. When I was packing I realised my dog had chewed off the tips of Kuromi's ears and some stuffing is showing. I messaged the buyer about the error and if they'd like to cancel the order and then also offered the option of me relisting it at a lower price.

Then I checked the breakdown of what they paid and they didn't pay any shipping or Depop fee. So if I refund them, they'll be screwed if they wanna buy it again, correct? I don't know what to do. I'm freaking out. Should I offer a partial refund then?

Selling Help What are red flags as a seller?

What are some red flags as a seller?

I have a vintage dress for sale going on 3 months.
A buyer on poshmark messaged me with questions about the dress and I answered them all.
She then offered $45 for the dress and I am selling it for $95. I kept declining and said lowest I can do is $55 on depop(lower seller fees).
The buyer keeps sending $45 offers for months so I blocked her.
A month ago I got a message from this same buyer saying she made a depop for this dress and will only take it for $45. Again I decline this goes on up until today.
While she offers $45 on depop, she is also asking how to use the app(send offers, buy, ect.) I answer her politely in short answers.

So today she mentioned I told her she can have it for $55 previously. I said okay (i’m over it at this point but it did take me a lot to source this dress. Woke up at 4am, drove 40 mins to estate sale, stood in line, and searched the house for this dress. Also wasn’t a super cheap find but a beautiful dress i hoped I could keep for myself but couldn’t fit) Her last message was about the total cost after fees, taxes, ect. Not sure if that was a complaint but seemed not needed.

I have not dealt with a buyer like this.
Should I cancel and refund and not deal with this buyer? I’m worried this buyer may cause problems after shipping.

Anything similar happen to you?
What are some red flags you ignored and then regretted?

Misc. Hot take: items having a ton of likes just means it’s priced too high

My depop home page is filled with Hollister/a&f tank tops listed for $35-$40, more than they sell for brand new. Sometimes even $60 for the vintage ones. 50+ likes and they sit there for over a week. I know lot of likes maybe helps you in the algorithm sure, but I’m still selling at least a couple items a day getting 0-3 likes. I feel like if that many people are “liking” the item but not purchasing, it’s cause it’s too expensive, they “like” the item but keep scrolling to find something cheaper. Thoughts?

Question How to navigate tagged size vs. actual fit when listing

I have quite a few items to list that are tagged a certain size but actually fit differently. This is mainly an issue with vintage shirts and sweatshirts, as they often run a size or two smaller by modern standards. I recently saw a post talking about how this can be an issue when filtering by size. To both buyers and sellers, how do y’all navigate this? I always put the actual measurements/fit in the description, but I get stuck on what size to list it in. I’ve been listing it in the size it would actually fit rather than the tagged size, but I know that could potentially cause issues with the item not being as described. On the other hand, I would think people filtering by size want something that fits that particular size.

Selling Help should i hold item for buyer?

hi! i’m new to selling on depop. i had a buyer ask if i could put an item on hold for approximately one week. to the more experienced sellers: do you do holds, and why or why not? any related advice would also be appreciated!

if it matters, the item is somewhat expensive ($100+), has a decent number of likes and bags already. i’m not in a rush to get rid of it but it’s taking up a lot of space in my room

Question Anybody else getting odd messages from size-small girls?

To preface, I sell clothing sizes L-2X so I’m used to people asking if a size would fit a size smaller or whatever.

However, EVERY single PLUS size item gets at least 2-3 messages a day from girls and the messages always read similar to “Ugh, this wouldn’t fit a small girl would it?”, or “Ugh, can I fit in this as a small”.

It’s only on the 1X and 2X items - and it’s been happening from accounts that have no reviews, listings, but AI girls in sports bras / gym clothes from what I’ve noticed.

It obviously won’t fit a size small… I have no idea what’s going on or why this is going on?

Misc. Why is everyone so lazy?

Everyone on this app is so damn lazy I swear! I‘m starting to get concerned! I write incredibly detailed but easy to read descriptions and take clear quality photos but everyday someone is messaging me to ask me a question that is answered in BOTH places on the listing!

Someone just asked me a question about something the is literally visible in the THIRD PHOTO! you can’t scroll through 3 photos at least??? It’s driving me insane lol I try to be as nice as possible because I don’t want to argue with anyone or ruin a potential sale but everyday I’m fighting the urge to lash out at ppl who do this.

Question Should I even respond to this message?

Post image
21 Upvotes

I purchased from this seller and they have until tomorrow to ship it or it automatically refunds. Today they sent me this message. I have not received the item.. like is this a scam?? They don’t have the greatest reviews and I knew that purchasing but figured if they don’t ship my item oh well..

This did happen to me once before a seller said she shipped but it never showed that she did and she realized she didn’t scan it correctly. So, she refunded me and said to just keep it if it comes but I still never got the package. Not sure if this is what happened in this case but I don’t even know how to respond to this? Haha

Buying Help Ghosted by seller after items not received

Looking for a way to ask DePop for intervention.
Seller dm’ed me that she received a return envelope stamped something like, “ no contents.” Meanwhile, I told her to contact DePop for help but that the order was marked “in transit” so maybe it was on its way. When I didn’t hear from her after giving USPS a generous amount of extra time, at least another week and a half, I informed her that I was reaching out to DePop for help. I did so. DePop emailed me that the seller agreed to contact me and closed the issue. The seller never contacted me. I tried to contact her again and I think she blocked me. At any rate, I can’t figure out how to now DM her again as our thread is closed. And I can’t figure out how to contact DePop as they say the issue is resolved and don’t allow more messaging on the particular issue. Meanwhile it has now been close to a month and the package is still marked as “In transit.” I think that the seller should have taken some responsibility and that DePop, not me , should absorb the cost .I should be refunded. Any help is appreciated.

Positive Experiences Some seller review appreciation

Post image
• Upvotes

Wanted to add a positive post on here and say I love when sellers add sweet ratings like these! On sites like Mercari buyers usually just get the rating without a comment and I find depop has a nice community of sellers who leave reviews just for purchasing. Definitely brightens my day as a buyer 🫶

Dispute Help seller sent me completly destroyed item then refunds me 15$ off 0f 160 what to do

so I just bought an arcteryx jacket on depop for around 150$ and the listing showed no damages however when i got it (shipped in a fruit loops box btw) I saw that thier were two huge rips in the side as well as the hood falling off and the cuff in disrepair. The listing did not show any of this the photos were taken so the sides wernt pictured and the hood facing down. Then I immideatley reported it saying my item was damaged, and the seller just refunded me 16$ right away then started talking about how they had never worn it then saying it was shipped super far so it must have been shipping but the damages were obviously not from that. now im stuck as I dont know what to do beacuse they allredy refunded me.

Dispute Help Is it just me or is this weird/wrong?

Bought a used copy of a video game for $12. I can't remember if I purchased outright or sent an offer. Either way, I purchased the item and the seller messaged that they would ship it soon. I completely forget about it until I get a notification that it was refunded. I messaged the seller asking why it was refunded and they said because they couldn't get to the post office on time and it was gonna get refunded automatically anyways. I go look on their page and the re-listed the game for $30. I told them that was pretty scummy of them and they said they would give me a discount but they had sold it for too low before. Is it weird that I feel stolen from? 😅 like, I purchased and paid for the game, but they decided after the fact that they wanted more for it. It just feels icky of them to me.
