Info Request Looking for someone to take a carryon of 2 dozen steamed crabs to RSW from ILG to surprise my 84 yr old parents in FL.

Yes, I realize this sounds batshit crazy. My 84 mom and dad in Naples, FL at an Erickson CCRC are absolutely longing for steamed Crabs and sansones sauce. I really want to surprise them.

I want to send 2 dozen steamed jumbos and a sauce. There are flights that leave Wilmington straight to Ft. Myers. Short enough for the crabs to be ok.

I’m happy to pay for the carryon price. I’ll supply a sealed carry on waterproof bag. I have someone to pick up at Ft.Myers. I’d even pay you.

More info: The cost for me to overnight 6 crabs (small) was $280! (that’s on dry ice and has to be reheated). I even tried a cheesesteak. Same price.

If there is a crabber like who has a side truck etc I’d be open. Just must be 7.5-8+ inches for this trouble and my best two this summer have been Sansone’s/Wilmington and Matt’s / Fenwick

Thanks in advance if you are into helping g me provide two lively seniors with this act of kindness. I’ll be happy to blow up your social media!

Events Delaware Cosplay Meetup ??

Hello! there’s been several smaller scale anime cons popping up in Delaware which has been incredible to see!!

I’d love to possibly put feelers out there for a more casual cosplayer meet up in Delaware? Is this something anyone would be interested in at all…? 👀

I am so nostalgic for this since it was a bigger thing to do more casual cosplay meetups back in the 2010s and was thinking it could be possible to revive that a little here?

Let me know if you’d be interested and if anyone ends up interested I’ll probably make a server on discord to maybe plan it out??

Dover Transphobia at Bayhealth: My experience as an employee

I am an employee at Bayhealth, and I am posting this to bring awareness to the toxic, transphobic environment that is tolerated here. Over my time working for this organization, I have repeatedly witnessed and experienced harassment from other staff members regarding my identity.
It is exhausting to show up to work just trying to do your job and earn a living, only to be subjected to outright disrespect, mocking, and hostility from colleagues. This kind of ongoing environment takes a massive toll on mental health.
What worries me even more than my own situation is the impact on patient safety. If healthcare workers here feel entirely comfortable treating their own transgender colleagues like garbage, it raises serious red flags about how they treat vulnerable LGBTQ+ patients who come to this hospital expecting safe, unbiased, and compassionate care.

Bayhealth needs to step up, hold its employees accountable, and address the culture of bigotry that is currently being permitted behind the scenes.

Newark Christina School District / Newark/Pike Creek parents — where have you placed your child who needed a little extra support?

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to hear from parents in the Newark area, especially those familiar with Christina School District.

My daughter is approaching kindergarten age, and we’re currently in the process of working with Child Find to explore what support she may need as she transitions into school. In the meantime, I’d love to hear about other families’ experiences with local schools and programs.

My daughter is bilingual (English and Spanish) and understands both languages well. She can communicate and express herself, but she still struggles with processing certain questions and information. Sometimes she needs extra time or support to understand what’s being asked and formulate a response. She currently receives speech therapy, and I want to make sure we’re exploring the best educational environment for her as she continues to grow.

I’m looking for a school that recognizes her strengths while also being understanding and supportive of the areas where she needs a little extra help. I want her to feel comfortable, build confidence, and have the opportunity to thrive academically and socially.

I’d especially love to hear from parents whose children have needed additional support with speech, language processing, or communication.

A few questions for those willing to share—

  • Which schools or programs have you had good experiences with in Christina School District or the surrounding Newark area?
  • If your child needed extra speech or communication support, did you feel the school provided adequate services and individualized attention?
  • For those who’ve gone through Child Find, how was your experience with the evaluation process and getting services in place?
  • Did your child remain in a general education classroom with additional support, or did another type of placement work better?
  • Are there any particular schools, programs, or resources you’d recommend looking into? Alternatively, is there anything you wish you’d known before choosing a school?

I know every child is different, and I’m not expecting one school or program to be the perfect fit for everyone. I’m simply trying to learn from parents who’ve been through this process and hear honest experiences that can help us make an informed decision.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations, advice, or insight. Thank you!

Sussex County Can someone tell me about public transit in DE?

• Upvotes

I'm from Philadelphia but I really want to visit my friend in Sussex county using public transit. I know I can take a train from PHL to Wilmington. After that, are there lines I can transfer to in order to get to Sussex county? Do trains even run that south? Ty 🙏

F**k Nebraska! Price of zyn in Delaware

I'm from a high-tax state and have a pretty wicked Zyn habit.

Wondering about the average price per can/roll if I visit an average 7-Eleven, and I want to know which parts of the state have the cheapest deals.

Thanks

Announcement Transfer On Death Deed (TOD Deed) info

Not sure if "announcement" is the best flair for this post, but it was my best guess.

Anyway! I just heard about this interesting thing, so I thought I'd mention it for anyone who owns a property:

If you own a home/property and want it to go to someone specific after you die, fill out/file a TOD Deed form and file it with your county's Recorder of Deeds.

The form basically says "When I die, I want this person/people to get my house, no questions asked. Regardless of whether I have a will or not, this TOD Deed document is what we all agree to go by. I can also revoke this any time."

Before this law went into effect, dealing with property transfers if you didn't have a will was a royal pain in the ass, but this law solves it with one form.

This law went into place in DE pretty recently (either 2025 or 2026, I can't remember), but it can saves soooo many headaches.

If you're in NCC, you can read more about it here:

Enjoy!

News Delaware Department of Elections received letter with white powder today (10/15)

From their FB page:

Today, October 15, 2026 at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Delaware Department of Elections (DOE) received and opened a letter which was discovered to contain a white powdery substance. Staff members followed security and USPS postal instructions on handling suspicious mail. The mail piece was isolated, staff members were decontaminated and evacuated, HVAC system was shut down, and law enforcement, state and federal partners have arrived at the office and are conducting the investigation and testing.

All election offices statewide have sent their non-essential state employees home in an abundance of caution.

Additional information will be provided to the public as the response continues.

Over 60,000 trees have been planted in the last three decades. This reforestation partnership with Delaware Nature Society has resulted in over 107 acres of former agricultural fields surrounding the original Middle Run forest converted into new, young forest.

Middle Run Natural Area is the largest of the County’s 251 parks and parcels, measuring 890 acres that stretch from Paper Mill Road, to Polly Drummond Hill Road, to Possum Park Road, nearly reaching Kirkwood Highway. Hikers and bikers enjoy the 17 dirt trails that wind through 15 miles of property. Birders appreciate the 227 different types of birds that frequent the area, along with white-tailed deer, rabbits, raccoons, red foxes, and turtles.

Info Request Morning travel from Sussex to Dover

Hey folks. I'm starting a new job up in Dover on Monday. I live like right on the border of Milton and Lewes near the Lewes-Georgetown highway. Anyway, just wondering how AM traffic from here to Dover is. I start at 8AM. I previously worked hybrid and went to the office (in NJ) a couple times a month, so I'm not much of a road warrior.

TIA!!
