Edgerunners Regarding Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2

Attention all Dogtown residents, this is Kurt Hansen,

Attention chooms,

So we’re about 12 days from the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2. Are you as excited about it as I am? I don’t know if I’ll binge the whole thing at once, or watch it in bursts.

So while we’re gearing up for this preem release, we’re going to need to set some guidelines for how we handle ourselves on this subreddit.

Since many of you will be excited to share your thoughts on the series once it’s out, we’re going to establish an Edgerunners megathread for you to comment in. We will place spoiler warnings on the title to warn readers that there are likely to be spoilers. It will be stickied at the top of the subreddit.

However, outside the megathread, spoilers will be absolutely forbidden, be it in the title or the content. Any infraction of this will be subject to a Rule 3 violation, and possibly a ban depending on the severity of the offence.

Come October 20, we will be enforcing this rule strictly for at least a month. You want to tell the world about what you saw? Keep it in the megathread.

That’ll be all.

Update: Internal discussions ongoing as well. The idea of one megathread containing links to episode threads is being discussed.

Announcement Regarding DLSS 5 and 3rd Person Mod Posts

Attention Dogtown residents, this is Kurt Hansen,

Attention chooms,

Two topics are done for now.

DLSS 5
Official support still isn’t in the game. New posts are removed under Rule 4. Existing threads will be locked. We allowed this to be discussed for a week, to give you all a chance to get your thoughts and feelings out of your system.

Third-person mods
Yes, we saw Immersive Third Person. And honestly, it looks better than the old ones. That being said, the screenshot/clip wave is over. No more third-person showcase posts until the mod actually ships a major update. Any existing threads we see will be locked. New posts will be removed under Rule 4.

Neither of these is a ban on the tech or the mod. It’s a feed decision. When CDPR ships DLSS 5, or the third-person mod takes a real step forward, the topic(s) can come back.

Until then: play the game, post the game.

That’ll be all.

I randomly came across it while running from the cops. Wondering if this location is something of sentimental value or if it's a shard in a random spot.

Discussion The more times I play Phantom Liberty, the more annoyed I find myself getting that Reed wasn't a proper boss fight.

To start, I think it's more than safe to say that this is the story path that the overwhelming majority of people will choose on their first ever playthrough. As such, you'd expect it to be the path that got the most attention during development. Apparently, not so.

In the path where you betray Songbird, you have a boss fight against Hansen, then in the next mission, you have another boss encounter with a MaxTac squad, and then immediately after that, you have the bunker mission where you're hiding from the Cerberus. Comparatively, in the path where you betray Reed, you have the big shootout in the spaceport, and that's pretty much it.

It's also an annoying letdown from a story standpoint as well. Lore wise, Reed should be on a similar level to Oda and Takemura, and sporting just as good, if not better, hardware as one of the FIA's top agents. Not only that, but the game also builds a lot of tension between Reed and V in the buildup to the showdown at the spaceport, setting up the expectation that there's going to be a big showdown with him at the end of it all. Then you get there, and he goes down in one hit.

Discussion Cyberpunk addresses suicide in a masterful way

Post image
275 Upvotes

Obvious trigger warning and spoilers ahead. I just finished playing for the first time so I’ve been thinking a lot about the game.

The tarot card I’d assign to the Path of Least Resistance ending would be Temperance reversed, as represented by the image. Temperance reversed represents imbalance, recklessness, and going to extremes with little or no thought about how those actions affect the future. I think that encapsulates suicide well and is expressed through the reactions of V’s friends in this ending.

Their reactions are incredibly realistic for the people left behind after someone commits suicide. Judy is devastated, Panam is just plain angry, Kerry is resentful and jaded, and River is trying to push down his emotions and seems resigned. (Note I only watched this ending online I don’t want to play it myself).

Not to get too personal on main but when I was a young teenager I attempted and was hospitalized and experienced all of those reactions. My mother verbatim said exactly what Panam said, specifically the “what were you thinking? Or were you thinking about nothing at all?” line. Her reaction makes sense because, as I’d come to find out later, her own mother had successfully committed shortly after she had me.

I would go into more detail regarding myself but instead I’ll just say this: imagine if Evelyn lived. That’s pretty much what it was like. During that scene I had to pause and get up. My reaction after it was basically “holy shit how did they get this so realistic”. Visceral. S tier writing.

All of this to say, I really appreciate how cyberpunk handled suicide. It was very realistic and something I think more people need to see. Especially those that are thinking about suicide. It’s not romantic. It’s not an escape. You cease to be and leave behind a horrible mess for your loved ones to spend the rest of their lives contending with. People can come to terms with death better when it’s expected or unavoidable but suicide is neither. My mother only last year said to me that she finally stopped thinking of her mother first on every holiday, every birthday, and every occasion. It’s been over 20 years. She told me when she turned one year older than her mother was that it felt weird to live longer than her mother ever did, especially since she wasn’t even old.

People say all sorts of kitschy phrases when it comes to suicide but I rarely find that helpful to anyone. Really what it boils down to is this: Is that what you really want? Or do you just want to stop feeling so shitty all the time? Trust me, as long as you remain alive it is always possible. It’s like Newton’s Laws of Motion, if you’re immobile (dead) you’re staying that way. But living itself is being in motion, even if it feels slow it’s still going. If a bee can fly you can rediscover what it is to be happy and content.

To me the meaning of life isn’t some grand assignment. It is simply to live: the laughter, the tears, all of it is a uniquely human experience. No one will ever be right where you are right now, so treasure that. You are a universe within yourself. You are a once in a lifetime opportunity. So don’t go throwing that away. Every day is full of choices, even the little ones you don’t really think about have impact. Who knows, maybe you’ve inspired someone without even knowing it. To live for the hope of it all, or even just for spite, is worth it. You are worthy just by being alive. Thanks for reading chooms. Cheers to life.

So I was walking about then I entered this building, it has an elevator to the roof and is genuinely one of the best views of the city. As I entered I walked around a bit went to the elevator it didn't work then I heard this creepy ass laughter (The stutter at the start was me pausing my music to make sure I wasn't hearing things yk) Basically has anyone else heard this it's in a building you go to for a gig in Charter Hill not 100% sure it's called tho?

Discussion Cyberpunk Cars & Models photos ?

Thumbnail

So Its been awhile since played but I do love to keep up with a lot of the different cyberpunk reddit groups and just love to see what people post from their time in game and some have the absolute best minds for the photomode stuff from lighting, poses and outfits and post some Great shots.

That said I guess I do not see very often that many cars and model pics. I am a bit old skool but I am thinking like back in the day HotRod magazine or Lowriders, Car Craft, & Import Tuner type of photo-shoots... Cool cars and great Models.

But this post is mainly asking .... Why don't we see more of this type of content?
Is there a reddit that has more of this and I have just not found it? Is it that no body does it much or if they do does the content they put out get buried and I miss it as I am not on Every single group that has been made on the subject but feel like I have joined enough should have seen more I would have thought. Now before I get hit with a lot of "We post with cars all the time" what I am more thinking of is like the Magazines shoots where the Lighting, the pose, the angle of camera and the outfits are just on point .. like "Wow thats a Great Photo" kinda stuff. Not saying any of the stuff was not a good attempt as the genre but either seems most I see its something missing to get that "wow" factor.
I mean I am horrible at photomode, It's a art to it that I do not have the talent for but have seen some great stuff just not that much.
Its tricky too with the mods and all, chromed out and some of the body kits for the toons some of the shots if not the right angle then the model can start to not even look human anymore.

Have posted a few examples of things I have come across in the past that I felt like they Nailed that kinda format of photo shoot.
My hope is the maybe spark some interest in the creators to maybe try and post up some content like that or if could be pointed in the direction of where that kinda of content is posted.

Gonna apologize ahead for not knowing the creators names to Credit but they did amazing work!
Also I hope and pray it does not offend any of the content creators as that is not the intention You all do Wonderful work and I thank all the creators for keeping the game alive as its is truly one of the greatest in my humble opinion.

**Edit**

Have been advised on a Creator to Credit for 2 of the photos I have shared here.
Thank You DvSiNt3nTiOnS. for sharing these amazing photos (photos 1 & 4) some time ago for Cyberpunk fans to appreciate.

Discussion Played the game without mods for the first time in 3 years...

...and I have some thoughts. I LOVE this game to death, but there are a few things that have always bothered me and why I usually play with mods.

  1. They improved Cyberware and character cuztomisation a lot with 2.0 and onwards, but I still desperately miss full body conversions like Lizzy Wizzy, crazy Cyberware like So Mi, more out there skin colors, more (and better) hairstyles, and eyes like Takemura or Hanako.

  2. The Internet is... there. I wish you could actually use it for stuff other than buying cars and browsing random sites. Virtual Artelier is one of my go to mods, because I find it weird that in 2077 people apparently still go to clothing stores.

  3. Vendors are mostly useless. Seriously, most of them carry stuff you get thrown at you, or the same stuff as any other vendor. Food isn't important enough to justify having 50+ vendors, same with pharmacies that only ever carry medkits, that you constantly find in the open world anyway.

  4. Life Paths are completely useless, aside from very specific moments and optional dialogue. They don't affect the ending, or the way things play out. I also think the intros are way too short.

Most of this has probably been mentioned by other people many times, but I just felt like sharing in case some developer maybe comes across it and can maybe get some of this changed in the next game. I also know that some of this was planned for 2077 initially.

No hard feelings, I love the game as is, I just hope the next game can improve upon these things :)

We didn’t really get to explore it much in the game and Johnny’s pretty unreliable as a narrator so season 3 would be such a good opportunity to focus on the global event
