Post Partum C Section

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! My sister is having a scheduled C-section in February and her baby shower is coming up in 3 weeks. I have seen online and have given post partum care packages for those who have had a vaginal birth, and was wondering if there is a care package for those who are having a C-section. Would love to hear any recommendations or even anything you wish you had during post partum. I’m also taking a week off work for when her husband is off paternity leave so any recommendations for after care would that I could help her with would be very appreciated. Thanks!

I would also like to mention that this is her first baby.

I’m 1 week in to 2u2 , had another emergency c section after failed VBAC. My partner goes back to work in 5 days. I’m really worried about how I will manage my 14 month old with getting in and out of crib, high chair, changing table etc because of the picking up and lifting restrictions. She can’t climb stairs either so I’ll just have to do everything down the stairs. How did everyone else manage? I know it’s so important to follow the guidelines but I don’t see how I can manage that long.

2nd C-section

I just had my 2nd C-section 6 days ago and I over did it 2 days ago. Now my right side is in so much pain pretty much all day, my husband still has to hand me our baby 24/7. With my last baby my mental health was AWFUL and it had nothing to do with my C-section, just ppd I suppose. Now, my mental health is not amazing because I’m in so much pain and can’t do anything on my own. I just want to stop hurting so much :-(

Sick and going in a couple days for c-section

last week I think Tuesday I started feeling kind of sick, stuffy nose and sore throat. fast forward to now (early Sunday morning 3am) I have a cough, no more sore throat and still stuffy nose. the cough ebs and flows but I’m scared to have my C-section Tuesday and be coughing during surgery and also after…using abs to cough and blow my nose is making me worried for recovery. this will be my 3rd csection. I go in Monday to my OB for a final NST my BP was a little high last week. any tips to get rid of this cough or has anyone been sick like this right before their surgery?

For anyone who’s had c sections back to back within a 2 year span… (2 under 2) how did it go for you? I’m 8 months pp and got surprised with a positive pregnancy test. I know my body hasn’t properly healed, but I’d like to hear of others experiences…

Late PPH

Has anyone ever had a late postpartum hemorrhage??? I had my c section 12 days ago and my blood had eased up and it was just a little bit. Now today I had a gush of blood it didn’t leak thru the pad and it probably filled up half the pad. It slowed down a little then I just had another gush of blood that filled up the pad but didn’t leak thru. My blood pressure was extremely low earlier it was 92/60. Am I being paranoid about a hemorrhage???

I’m 10 days post operation. I had a wound vac up until yesterday which I took off and disposed of at home under doctors guidance. I have an appointment Monday. But I’ve had burning and stinging since removing wound vac. And not sure if scar looks normal. There’s pink/reddish bit I’m worried about.

Birth story

I am a FTM who recently had a baby. I was induced at 39 weeks due to health reasons. My baby was breeched so I had a procedure to turn the baby but it required an epidural. Too much of the epidural was pushed and I couldn’t move my body from the neck down. I couldn’t even feel my chest rise and fall when I took a breath. My heart rate and blood pressure became unstable and I was in and out of consciousness with panic from the feeling of the epidural and all that was going on. Once baby was turned properly, we proceeded with a vaginal delivery and a ballon cath was inserted and fell out at 4cm and they broke my water and started pitocin. I suffered a really bad infection in my uterus from my water being broken and stayed 4cm dilated for 12+ hrs. My labor ultimately ended in a c section where I was barely conscious because I was still fighting a brutal infection, HR/ BP/ temperature all unstable still and I lost 1 litter of blood during the c section. My birth was very traumatic and recovery hasn’t been the smoothest. My husband and I both say our baby boy is our 1 and only and we aren’t going to have any more after how everything went but everyone thinks we will change our minds after 1 year or so goes by.

Anyone else who had a traumatic birth did you want another one or did you have another one? I never want to go through what I went through again. I know that if we have a second baby that it’s not guaranteed that any of that would happen again but it’s also not certain that it wouldn’t happen again.

Low iron & two days from c section

So worried :(

My scheduled c section is Monday…i had 5 Venefor iron infusions as my ferritin was at 9 and Hgb was 9.9. My last infusion was Aug 28 and one month later my levels were ferritin 52 and Hgb 12.7….i had my preop labs again and now weeks later my ferritin dropped to 18!!! However Hgb stayed at 12.7 thankfully. Im reading that low ferritin/iron is a postpartum hemorrhage risk?? Anyone have similar experience. Im kinda bummed my ferritin didn’t stay high after all those infusions. At least my Hgb improved.

I’m missing the outside world

I’m 11 days PP. I’ve only gone out in public 2 times: baby first pediatrician visit and my c section inspection follow up. I’m an introvert but I also miss going out to like restaurants or shopping or whatever. There have been days I’ve felt great but husband said no to me going out since it can cause issues (he works with cancer patients and has seen people say they feel great and push themselves and causes more pain). Today I’m in pain (fire alarm went off and we smelled something burning at like 3 am. I instinctively got up quickly and grabbed our son. I think that was too much. It was just from our house getting confused because we finally turned on the heat on for the first time in months).

It gets better right with missing stuff?

Odd internal tugging?

Ok so I do have an OB appointment soon but is if this is something other people have experienced? So when I was freshly postpartum on the right side of my scar that was the area that gave me the most hell. It was always sore and any sitting up or turning and it’d feel like it was pulling on something in a biting type of way. After 2 weeks it went away. Now almost 6 weeks postpartum I’m starting to notice it again. Any ideas?

Uterine Closure Type

I learned from my operative report that I had a locked single layer closure and from my research this seems less than ideal for future TOLAC. Has anyone had experience with this type of stitch. Why would it be chosen? I’m disappointed and now unsure how this impacts my candidacy for a VBAC.

I don't have a right to be upset about how my ab separation looks according to my pelvic PT

She kept pressuring me to answer what it would mean to have my abs fixed, like it was a ridiculous desire

If my DR isn't causing pain, and only the look bothers me, then i basically have no reason to be in PT. I need to accept and celebrate my body because it gave me a baby. Coming from a woman who has 3 kids and 6 pack abs. Then she spent the rest of the time talking about surgery. It's only been 5 months, I'm not even thinking about surgery yet, it was so uncalled for to suggest at this point

I'm frustrated. This was during my 3rd session. How do you even find a good pelvic PT? My consultation was awesome, her socials are awesome, her reviews are awesome. But she wanted to spend over 50% of the session just talking, like a talk therapist, I swear the questions she asked were so deep i almost cried multiple times.

I do actually have pain, but it's in my tailbone. She promised to fix it but never brought it up after the first session

Random bleeding NSFW

I had my 4th c-section 5 weeks ago. Once the initial round of bleeding stopped for a week, it started back up again . I knew that was probably the scab from where the placenta was. It lasted for a little less than a week.

Then I had no bleeding for an entire week and then all of a sudden I was standing in my kitchen and felt a huge gush of blood. It was bright red and soaked through a pad very quickly. I changed the pad and I was still bleeding, but not as heavily. I thought perhaps it was the return of my period even though I’m pumping regularly and I didn’t get my first postpartum period with my other kids until several months after birth.

After a day, the bleeding stopped completely, so I figured it couldn’t have been my period.

I chalked it up to a one-off random thing.

A few days later, again I was minding my business and felt a gush. Bright red blood. It was nowhere near as much as the first time but still a decent amount of blood, similar to a typical period for me. It lasted for a day and then it was gone again. No spotting. Just completely gone again.

This has happened now three or four times where I’ve had days of nothing and then a day of bright red blood. I’ve never had anything like this happen so I’m wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I do go to the doctor for my 6 week checkup next week but when I started bleeding AGAIN today I thought I’d turn to the internet and see if anyone else has experienced this. It’s more than spotting but not enough to really be alarmed (other than that very first day where I soaked through the first pad).

Here I thought after 4 c-sections I was kind of a pro at it but I’m baffled by whatever it is my body is doing now.

C section infection worsening NSFW

Posting on here because I need reassurance that I’m not being paranoid about this.

I am almost 3 weeks post op c section. A week after the surgery, all the steristrips came off and I noticed a little section of my incision was open and had some dark dead-looking skin instead (first pic). My mom and husband advised I go to my OB because it did look infected.

Nurse practitioner at my OB’s office saw me and dabbed a silver nitrate stick on the infected area and prescribed a week’s worth of cephalexin antibiotics. She did not rinse off the silver nitrate. I took the antibiotics and kept a close eye on the incision; felt like it wasn’t getting better.

I called my OB’s office again a couple days ago and went in same day. A different nurse practitioner saw me and said the incision doesn’t seem to be getting worse. She also dabbed silver nitrate on it, didn’t rinse it off and prescribed nystatin cream for it.

I’ve been using the cream for a couple days now and looking back at the first picture I took of the infection, I’m realizing that it’s definitely gotten worse.

I’m worried the medical professionals at my OB’s office aren’t taking my infection seriously. I have another appointment with them in a couple days and I’m considering asking for a wound care referral.

Second C-section healing question

I just had my second C-section, planned minimal blood loss and no adhesions. A clean surgery according to my doctor. Although she said she used more heavy duty sutures since it was a second time muscle surgery.

She also said my incision site was bleedy so had to use a pack wound thing which just looked like a pad.

I’m 8 days out and on the left side of my incision there is a large rope like feeling that literally feels so much larger than last time. I’m worried it’s something wrong. I see the nurse at 330 today.

Did anyone have this? Or experience with feeling something like this?

Scar pain 12 mo PP

TL;DR: I’m having pain on my lower stomach/scar area when my daughter or cats press on it. Not sure if due to lack of nerves or didn’t heal properly? Curious if other moms have had this experience.

So I had my emergency c-section a little over 12 months ago. Came in to get induced and ended up being an emergency c-section due to infection and both my heart rate and my daughters raised significantly. I hemorrhaged and had sepsis. So I think my recovery journey took a bit longer than the norm. Plus after being cleared after 6 weeks I stupidly lifted our 20lb rice bag while cleaning because I was going nuts being bound to the couch so that made me have to sit on the couch for another 2 weeks. I still have no feeling on my lower stomach (below my belly button). But whenever my cats come to snuggles and put all their weight in that ONE dang paw on my scar it hurts like hell (iykyk with cats). Now that my daughter is super mobile and active she presses all her weight on my lower belly and it hurts like crazy. Is this normal? Does anyone else experience this? I can’t tell if this is due to lack of nerves in my stomach now or if it means something else.
