So first of all, I hope I don't offend any religious fellows. This is just my journey, and I think it plays a huge role in my life.
For context, I was born a muslim, grew up in a moderately religious household, but I'd say I was fairly religious (though never did the hijab or anything). I used to believe that evolution and the Big Bang theory are Western propaganda, meant to deviate the next generation from religion. Like we were definitely made from mud in heaven and banished to earth for eating an apple, right?
Anyways, I then really started researching about evolution and the big bang theory and realized that we have actual evidence for that, realized that evolution is a fact — not a theory. At 14, I became an atheist after reaching that conclusion.
I feel like this is a really big part of who I am. I really want to write about this as the answer to that: "Some people believe they have an identity..." prompt. I'm also a STEM major, and I believe this journey has severely influenced several parts of my life.
At the same time, I feel like it is a sensitive topic, and it might come off as inappropriate or harsh to a religious person reading it. I don't want that, of course. What do you guys suggest?
TLDR: I want to write about my journey from a muslim to an atheist but worried if it might rub a religious AO the wrong way.
