Today, I was reminded by my phone of these pictures I took 2 years ago of the weirdest, coolest sky I've ever seen. Pictures don't do it justice. First pic is from the local news website. It looked as if the sky was painted by Van Gogh. Anyone know what these clouds are called? How does this even occur?

Had to pull over for this one

What causes these random tiger stripe clouds?

Took these a while back. Didn't capture the second one quite well and it was closer.

Still, it was a magnificent sight.

I see multiple people posted it but thought I’d share my photos! What causes this?

Spotted on 2026-10-16 just South of the Skagit Valley while looking towards the Olympic Mountains.

Caught this dramatic sky just before sunset on the beach in Rio de Janeiro. The clouds were incredible and the light was perfect.

looks pretty circular

No idea what kind of cloud this is, but it’s like a fall nuclear brain portal flooding into a blue abyss…

Familiar looking cloud in the skies of Bangkok, Thailand. What cloud is it? Why does it look like a nuclear bomb site?

I took this photo at a traffic light on my way to work, it's crazy how much it looks like a side portrait!
