Mod announcement Youtube allowed now

Hello everyone!
We didn't allow youtube links for a long time, because most of those posts were offtopic spam. But lately we have not seen any of that, just people posting cloud video's. So from now on youtube video's are allowed again. It irks a bit against the no advertising rule, but if people behave and don't get too self promotional it should be fine.
Have fun and mostly thank you so much for all the wonderful cloud pictures and video's you share.

Discussion What is this called?

Today, I was reminded by my phone of these pictures I took 2 years ago of the weirdest, coolest sky I've ever seen. Pictures don't do it justice. First pic is from the local news website. It looked as if the sky was painted by Van Gogh. Anyone know what these clouds are called? How does this even occur?
Photo/Video Might be common but still cool!

Took these a while back. Didn't capture the second one quite well and it was closer.
Still, it was a magnificent sight.

Caught this dramatic sky just before sunset on the beach in Rio de Janeiro. The clouds were incredible and the light was perfect.

No idea what kind of cloud this is, but it’s like a fall nuclear brain portal flooding into a blue abyss…

Photo/Video Skypunch in Austin, TX??

Been wanting to see one for years, is this it?? There's oddly enough a couple of other circular "holes" in the clouds in a line, almost like the change in pressure is happening in the same spot as the clouds move.
Even if it isn't a skypunch, it's still really cool looking.
