No idea what kind of cloud this is, but it’s like a fall nuclear brain portal flooding into a blue abyss…

looks pretty circular

Today, I was reminded by my phone of these pictures I took 2 years ago of the weirdest, coolest sky I've ever seen. Pictures don't do it justice. First pic is from the local news website. It looked as if the sky was painted by Van Gogh. Anyone know what these clouds are called? How does this even occur?

Had to pull over for this one

Been wanting to see one for years, is this it?? There's oddly enough a couple of other circular "holes" in the clouds in a line, almost like the change in pressure is happening in the same spot as the clouds move.

Even if it isn't a skypunch, it's still really cool looking.

Caught this dramatic sky just before sunset on the beach in Rio de Janeiro. The clouds were incredible and the light was perfect.

I see multiple people posted it but thought I’d share my photos! What causes this?

Hiding behind the clouds 🐘

I’ve been discovering new subs as I go along, and since my wife and I are both cloud and stargazers I’m happy to have found this sub.

1) A beautiful cloud that reminds me of a fish.

2 & 3) is the view from the balcony of my family’s timeshare in Newport RI.

4) The view from my first USPS route when I became a regular carrier for the route.

5) I was driving home and caught the moon, Venus in a perfect visual position by the American flag.

6) This is a funny cloud picture because I’m also a coin collector. The San Francisco mint marks their coins with an S. When I saw the S illuminated by the moon I had to take the picture.

7) I love seeing rain clouds and the rainbow included.

8) It looks like two hands made out of clouds trying to squeeze the moon.

9) This is my favorite, even if the clouds aren’t the most spectacular. The skyline is of Manhattan. I was there for The Manhattan Cup. A fishing tournament that honors American servicemen, veterans, first responders, and those who run to danger to protect. It was the first time I saw the Statue of Liberty.

Spotted on 2026-10-16 just South of the Skagit Valley while looking towards the Olympic Mountains.

What causes these random tiger stripe clouds?

Took these a while back. Didn't capture the second one quite well and it was closer.

Still, it was a magnificent sight.
