Media Popol Vuh's soundtrack for Nosferatu the Vampyre is one of my absolute favourites. It's a phenomenal movie soundtrack, but is also great to listen to in isolation.

A Review of 'Witchfinder General' 1968)
A cult film, a British folk horror trailblazer, a historical fiction featuring Price's most unrepentant and iniquitous character, and a rout. Set during the middle of the English Civil War in 1645, the character of Matthew Hopkins is a Price-performed portrayal of the historical ''witch-hunter'' that, yes, you guessed it, elected ''witches'' to burn at the stake; this, to the degree that he unofficially styled himself as the national ''Witchfinder General''. That is a hell of a lot of volition. His individual involvement in the conduct of witch trials was unparalleled for a long time before and after his life, even influencing the methods of evil used during the Salem Witch Trials.
If you would like to bear witness to Vincent Price playing a manifest out-and-out villain, this is the film for you. Everything, and I mean everything, he does terrorises the civilians and clergy of pastoral East Anglia. Themes of fanaticism, forms of religious belief, martyrdom, abuse of power, and the deleterious force that cults of personality provoke are deeply examined. In some ways, this film is a primordial experiment in the historical distortion that a modern director like Quentin Tarantino is renowned for practicing to modify atrocities into more favourable outcomes for the sake of fiction.
There is not a single performance that Price delivers that is as unjustifiable and malign as Hopkins. He completely suppresses his charisma and the glint in his eye to produce a steely vision of unabated religious despotism and cults of personality under puritanical force.

The Beast With Five Fingers (1946)
Just wanted to say that my local cinema is having a 'film noir' fest on Saturday 31 October (Halloween) and one of the films is The Beast With Five Fingers. Any love for this neat little horror film?
It's got a super creepy Peter Lorre on fine form as the crazy astrologer who sees his ex-employer's disembodied hand crawl around and generally murder and make mischief. There's one incredible scene where he catches it and throws it into a fire. It's got amazing effects for the day, only now and then can you see the wires or get a sense of an actor poking a hand up through a hole in the table etc.
It's a personal favourite of mine, back in the 70s the BBC used to show a lot of black and white older films, and as an eight year old I watched it alone and it gave me nightmares for ages :)

Just finished the Curse of the Crimson Altar (The Crimson Cult). What do you think about it?
It wasn’t terrible but not a new favorite. The score was great but the cast is what really made it a good watch. I think it’s properly rated 2.5/5.
