So I know there's a shit ton of posts asking a similair question. But I just wanted to ask if there are people like me who feel like they have to be perfectionistic in II because the looks are so good and if they have a better time playing I because it feels more sandbox. Curious about everyones opinions!
I’ve noticed in the distance my trees look quite strange. They’re jaggy and have not much detail, leading to them “loading in” whenever I get closer. I have the LOD mod and have tried to adjust it but no luck. Any insight?
I’m on Ps5 so i’m stuck to the base game and whatever DLCs are in the store. I want to make a city based in DR but i don’t even know what zones or assets to use to make it look accurate on the slightest since we’re only stuck to North American and European styles.
So the curves here are really extreme and it did not feel realistic to obliterate this mountain for a classic interchange here, so this is what I've conceived for this. Is this a good solution? There's a real interchange further down the road
First ever save that has 1 mil pop, a Detroit inspired city in the northeast that connects to the city port on the east with the metro Detroit suburbs in the west of the city
With a New York inspired section to the south.

This is probably the part that surprised me the most. After 1.5 years of garbage accumulation without any garbage service to take care of the city, as it can be seen in the picture below, most buildings are still green and only one single industrial building is complaining about garbage. Keep in mind that this playthrough is tested on normal mode and no outside services are allowed.
It appears that, logically, different buildings accumulate garbage at different rates. However low residential households seem to be immune, or accumulate garbage at such an extremely slow rate that they look like they don't need garbage services at all, while commercial and industrial accumulate faster. Overall, the garbage accumulation is anyway so slow that a city could go for almost 2 years without any intervention before the first buildings will start to complain. But what happens once a building accumulates enough garbage?
The "piled up garbage" penalty kicks in. The limit to this penalty seems to be no more than 50% independently of how much garbage it accumulates. Given that only some minor loss in efficiency appears to be the only downside of having a trashy city, the whole garbage management game mechanics can be ignored/bypassed by either accepting said penalty, which doesn't seem to affect the progress of a city anyway or it can be offset with other bonuses. Basically garbage accumulation is just a +/- efficiency and happiness bonus % and it doesn't seem to affect buildings in any other way. There might be the possibility that garbage accumulation can have other side effects, and if there are, they are so under tuned that are for all intended purposes imperceptible.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS: Enable/speed up garbage accumulation for low residential buildings, and once a building reaches -50% piling up garbage penalty, that building should be abandoned. Additionally, garbage accumulation could also affect the land value and get citizens sick.
CONCLUSION: The garbage accumulation seems to work to some extent, but it takes so much time for it to accumulate and its effects to kick in that you could go for almost 2 years without needing any garbage facility. And even then, just like with the endless traffic, complete lack of healthcare and deathcare, the penalties are so negligible that a city can practically keep going on.
Reallyy not good at this game yet but played a lot the past few months especially after making mess of metros ,
this city isn’t good though since it was during the process of me actually trying to be better so most of it has no access for shops and industry to reach eachother so its always having abandoned stuff my newer city is a little better at both at times
okay, how the actual hell do you make a cargo dock road system that doesn't cause a traffic jam up like a quarter of your highways? i did a whole system that worked for a bit but the amount of trucks going to the port is insane, and the trucks are slow as hell getting in/out of the cargo system. here's my road system here, there's 2 cargo docks and a cargo train
Hi im working on a new Los Angeles recreation in cities skylines II. This time much better than my old one. Before anybody asks for assets: One and Two California Plaza, Wilshire Grand Center. And Wells Fargo Center are coming out soon.
Gas Company Tower, Bank Of America. and figueroa at wilshire will not be available on PDX Because they are converted assets from Cities Skylines I. And i do not have permission from original authors to reupload them on PDX. (you can't see gas company tower on the screenshots but it's there)
As you guys already know, CS1 has "The classics" radio. CS1 radio musics are mostly great. However, Pandemonium by Haraldur Stefansdottir in "The Classics" radio is my favorite.
Some people also seem to love the music and be curious about the composer's identity.
However, all we know is this name; Haraldur Stefansdottir. And people think the name is a false name because the name is awkward. Awkward because according to Icelandic name, Haraldur is a male name and Stefansdottir is a female surname.
So... no clue???
If you don't know Pandemonium, just give it a try. It's a good one.
