Does Ozempic interact with Opioids?

I know both drugs slow your digestion.

Does slower digestion (slow peristalsis) impact how your body absorbs and uses oral medications?

My (f 26) partner (m39) of 4 years ended out relationship because I can’t do anything due to fibromyalgia

I suffer from fibromyalgia. All that chronic pain, fatigue, headaches, nausea, depression included. Because of this I can’t do most of the housework. I’m currently unemployed and on welfare but looking for a part time job.

We have no financial problems as we split bills like he pays housing and insurance while I pay for groceries and the rest we split between us. His teenage son (m16) is living with us. His son and I don’t habe a close relationship but we get along very well.

So due to my disability I can’t do much. I have about 6 hours a day I can use to do normal stuff, the rest of the time I need to lay down and rest. About 2-4 day a week the pain is so much I don’t even get the 6 hours.

Therefore when I do something that makes me feel better (go swimming or going for a walk or visit my parents etc) I prefer this over housework. And I tend to put my bag/ clothes in some corner of the flat an let it be there.

The last years he said I need to tidy up every few weeks and I did it immediately after he told me even pushing trough flares. I felt awful after because of pain and humiliation.

I know he works 50-60 hours a week and doesn’t want to come home and nothing is done (washing clothes, tidy up, fold clothes…)

Today he told me he can’t do it anymore and doesn’t know how to keep our relationship going if I don’t change this.

I told him I can’t change my chronic illness so the situation will maybe never change.

Was anyone in a similar situation?
I’m just looking for different opinions or ideas to save this relationship.

EDIT: I don’t do no housework. I do like the half of it and he said today he doesn’t want to do housework after coming home late. It sounded like I should do all of it because I’m unemployed and at home the whole day and he’s not.

Question for you folks…

So I have RA, ankylosing spondylitis and I’m still recovering from a Guillain- Barre hospitalization from this spring. Anytime I get sick, and begin to get better, it’s like the volume on all of my pain is amplified by ten. I feel worse than when I was in midst of illness, joints feel like they’re on fire while being packed with cement and I get tremendous muscle aches.

I’m fortunate to have a fantastic physician who makes sure I have access to any treatment of medication that may help me and he’s always open minded to mixing in a prn of something stronger during tough times. I have same day access to solumedrol injections, Toradol injections or whatever else.

My question is, for those of you who experience what I’ve mentioned, what on earth works for you to turn the volume down and be able to function?

What is going on in the US?

Yes, I’ve been blessed with getting more than lyrica and not forced to get injections and other non-useful care.

What is going on in the States where they have this MME rate or flat out don’t prescribe opioids or expect you to tolerate said injections even when they are doing nothing for you, just to get a minimal amount of opioids?

And what’s this about pill counts and random piss tests?

Can you fight back in any meaningful way against this treatment?

The best care I ever got was from the Indigenous only health centre Anishinawbe Health Toronto.

They know full well the power of stigma (even around opioid prescriptions in general) so they work very hard against that - by providing superior care and not just pain management but also access to things like physio, acupuncture, access to GPs, traditional ways of healing all in house.

So you just have to go to one building and the staff will stack all your appointments in one day to save you the trouble of repeat visits.

And they are open to opioids and my Dr even told me if that someone tried to take that med away, they would fight for access tooth and nail — a dumb ER doctor who put a silly note about you going to the ER in a major flare but him translating it means you’re drug seeking.

They do a pain contract, but they also know that shit happens. But that don’t do pill counts or random piss tests.

As long as you are honest with them, they will be honest with you.

And if they decide that opioids are a right course of action, that is what they will prescribe - with no interference from the upper brass.

They even - from time to time - fly in patients who are from distant reserves and pay for flight and hotel room.

So if anyone is reading this and happen to be Indigenous and in Ontario, I highly suggest you looking into help from Anishinawbe Health.

For our US friends, I have no idea why it’s so hostile down there? What the heck happened? This can’t all be backlash against the Stackler family?

I recovered in 10 months from the debilitating chronic muscular pain I had since 2019; straight up, not a joke.

Um, frankly I was suffering from like debilitating chronic muscular pain from 2019 onwards from the most stupid source of me sneezing and pinching a nerve for a Split Second. Apparently traumatized my nervous system into having Central sensitization and chronic pain syndrome where my back muscles literally stop functioning properly at all.

I had to deal with terrible mismanagement where nobody offered neuro-affirming pain care, because, honestly, doctors don't seem to realize that having AuADHD can mean more than likely your ADHD is linked to chronic pain and treating the adhd resolves the chronic pain.

I ended up digging through research papers myself to find the psychiatrist who just discharged me after working with me for the last year.

With Vyvanse and pramipexole, my chronic pain is basically gone, so I’ve been playing goalie full-time and even as an offensive lineman. I’ve also gotten obsessed with shooting rifles since my back dont wanna lock up doing it anymore.

Dr. S Kasahara doing research in this aera is an legend 🤷‍♂️

I kinda rant about my experience here and list studys in relationship to this:

Acceptance and pain

Acceptance gets misread as giving up, but in pain psychology it means dropping the fight to make the pain disappear before living your life. That fight often adds a second layer of suffering on top of the pain itself. Some people find it helps to ask what they'd do this week if the pain were going to be about the same, and do a small version of that.

What do I do about this very long walk?

TL,DR (To long, didn’t read): looking for advice to get through a long-ish trick or treating session with pain

Okay, so I know this is probably very stupid in childish (but I’m fifteen, so bear with me).

So, I’ve been invited to go trick or treating with a couple of new friends I made. I really want to go. However, due to chronic knee/hip/back pain, I can only walk about 20 minutes with my average amount of pain and about 30 more minutes with pain that I can somehow get through by taking tiny and limping steps. After that, I’m done and need to recover and will flare up the days following.
But nobody goes trick or treating for only an hour, since they’re also having a small Halloween party. I can’t have my mom pick me up after an hour since the drive is 30 minutes and that just wouldn’t be reasonable.
I’m already isolated due to the pain, I don’t want to miss out.

Sublocade

• Upvotes

My Pain Doctor retired so another one took over (no notice). In the waiting room is a ton of pamphlets for Sublocade. I’m not stupid, it’s obvious when a med is being pushed into that office when 99% of the papers to read or coupons is for it.

Have an appointment and midway he decides to slip in the old “ So there’s this new great med, it’s a shot, you won’t have to take so many pills! It’s amazing and I’ll put you on it.” It’s literally suboxone in a shot that lasts a month. You need surgery? Have something acute? Get in a car accident ? Whelp, narcotics won’t work because they’ll be blocked for a month depending when you received the shot. It’s not FDA approved for pain management for Chronic Pain. It’s specifically FDA approved right now for Opiate Use disorder, for those addicted to opiates.

I guarantee this is just the beginning of the pushing of this “holy grail” but know exactly what it is and why you disagree to be put on it in place of your pain medication when you have every right to not be taken advantage of if you don’t know any better and willingly give your meds away. Sharing only because I was naive and young at one point and accepted suboxone and it ruined my life before being properly managed again and everyone deserves to know exactly what they’re signing up for.

Is tolerance a big issue for anyone else? I swear these might last me 2-3 hours of relief

Post image
92 Upvotes

Im prescribed 3 a day however I feel like that doesn't even cover half the day. If I take one to fall asleep and then wake up a few hours its basically impossible to sleep again without another.

I actually told my doctor and then that day he wrote me morphine er 15mg and that actually seems to last all night and honestly even id say is better than the these instant release pills. So im currently getting 90 oxycodone 10s and 60 morphine er 15s. Its probably the best pain relief I've had in years. They truly last awhile vs a short peak and then nothing.

Chronic pain is so confusing

What do you mean I can leg press 100 kg without any training but walking hurts? During vacation, I went to the gym twice and tried random machines for fun, I was very surprised to realise I could leg press 100kg despite not working out my lower body at all for the past year. I've been walking with a crutch for almost a year now, what do you mean I can do that? Can someone explain to me why I can do this shit but can't stand for over 5 minutes without being in a lot of pain. Does anyone have a similar experience?

Interventional pain clinic? Oh, you mean chop shops??

Trying to find a pain clinic closer to me has been a waste of time and a nightmare. This is the THIRD clinic I've been to that doesn't want to continue the pain medication regimen I have found helps me most because they see morphine ER and get scared, judgmental, or suspicious. It doesn't matter that I tell them I spent a year and a half first trying everything else and it didn't work. It was like pulling teeth just to get the 15 mg morphine ER For endometriosis, And these clinics want to take it back.

Today's offerings...A spinal cord stimulator AND decreased mme. NO MEDS unless I do the stimulator, And even then, it would be decreased. So let me get this straight, you will insert things near my spinal cord before you EVER give me the medications that actually give me a semblance of a normal life? I've even offered to hand them a letter from my doctor detailing all the medications that I failed and they didn't want to hear it.

I HATE it here. And by here I mean life. I would have annihilated myself by now if it weren't for the fact that I would be hurting my beloved husband. Knowing that he would be devastated if I ended myself Is what keeps me here.

Thank you for letting me take up space and complain. I don't want advice, I am just so tired of it all. I have medical fatigue.

I went out! 😃 I was in a car for a total of 4 hours, went to a comedy show which lasted 2 hours and made it home. I'm happy, but my body is asking me "why, caffeinated housecat, why?" My heating pads are preparing for some serious overtime!

Please someone tell me you live similarly to me

I am really depressed tonight, I cant stop crying. I just want to know, does anyone else lay in bed almost all day because of your pain? And I dont mean after going to work, I mean as your daily routine. Sometimes all I do is use the bathroom, eat, and shower. I force myself to walk 3x a week. I dont work or go to school. If I try to engage in a hobby, I end up in more pain.
Ive become more and more dysfuctional over the years. I can’t even get myself to apply to for disability benefits. Im just so depressed and dont believe its gonna work out, and so I dont even want to try. I cant get myself to do stuff I know I need to. I hate myself so much.
I just want to know if someone lives in the same reality as I do. I feel so alone.

What am i missing constant facial pain and pressure

Im just looking for solutions, ive done turbinate reduction (burn ), cryotherapy, FESS surgery, inferior turbinate reductuon, all within the past 2 year and although the last 2 surgeries cured my symptoms for a few months

Current problems:
- pressure in my cheeks, undereyes, basically throughout my face is all back.
- brain fog is ridiculous
- contantly dizzy.
- temples hurts when pressed
- Post nasal drips
- white/clear mucus occasionally

My given doctor advice: My doct told me thrs nth he cld do anymore as my scans are normal and i do not have blocked nose ☹️

Scans/test:
-no allergies
-ct scans did show mild inflammation in my max sinus but docts says its normal in everyone
-No abnormalities in mri
-Normal blood work/minerals/vitamins
-a slight deviation in my septum but docts says its normal its negligible as it is js a very mild deviation.

Medication:
- tried 6 different antihistamines over 3 yrs as well as nasal sprays such as amymex...
- Augmentin
- Pain killers (even strong ones like lyrica)
- saline rinse with pulmicort

Lifestyle:
-Ive tried cutting out gluten dairy but nth works.
-I dont smoke or vape
-Alcohol very occasionally
-Anti inflammatory diet
-Fasting

Everything i tried was not for just a short period but at least one month or more. Im just deperate now. Im 20 in university and this is really causing a struggle my facial pressure is unbearable

This one actually sort of amused me...

Things haven't been feeling right, a combination of mental and physical issues, increased fatigue, increased pain flares. So I made an appointment with my doctor to see if we can look into it. We agree its probably cumulative stress, but we've got blood tests booked in too.

Anyway, she asked me if I've been headaches and I said "oh, just the normal amount". And she said "well, none is the normal amount."

We had literally just talked about "normal for me" 🤣

I wasn't pissed off or anything, just darkly amused. Another one of those "oh yeah, being in constant pain isnt normal!" moments.

Anyway, fingers crossed that whatever is going on with me can be fixed with something simple 🤞

I can’t get more than a few hours of sleep at a time. I need sleep to help with my brain fog.

I don’t know what the heck is going on but I keep waking up automatically after maybe four or five hours of sleep. Then I’ll need to get myself back to sleep. I don’t think it started after I got my gallbladder removed, but started noticing just how little and irregularly I sleep after getting my gallbladder removed.

And what makes things worse is that I’m not improving at the rate my surgeon made it sound like I would. And it really sucks going on Reddit seeing all these people who had the same problem as me improving faster than me. My pain is still there. I’m tired and I honestly should have taken another week off. My head is still a complete wreck.

Looking for advice on how to add cardio to my routine without adding more pain

Hello! i (F, 20s) have had chronic back pain and sciatica since being in a traumatic crash which resulted in 10+ fractures around my torso. My sciatic nerve damage is definitely my biggest source of flare ups but i’ve noticed that recently i’ve been getting deep and hard to ignore pains in my hips, knees and shins that feel like the growing pains i had as a kid. it only happens in 1 leg at a time (typical for my sciatica pains) and varies greatly in severity and length.

i don’t take any prescribed painkillers anymore and have found substantial progress and improvement through doing 5-7x/week exercise with a focus on yoga, mobility and balance, core strength and coordination (my doctor is aware of this and encourages me to continue)

Recently, i decided to try and add some more cardio to my routine and have been doing a 30 min brisk walk on the treadmill 3x a week, which i believe is the source of these new pains. If anyone else has experienced anything similar i would love to hear any advice you guys have on lower impact cardio or supporting muscles i should be building to assist more.

Thank you!

emorroidi,aiutatemi.

Can I say I have chronic pain?

I hope this is the right subreddit for this, if it is not then I apologise.

Anyway, my question is as the title says, can I say I have chronic pain?

I have never been diagnosed with anything, but my back hurts. Always. If not my back, then my neck or knees or other joints. My body constantly hurts. The pain in my back often keeps me up. It's been like this since I was about 7, and I honestly can't remember what's it like to not be in pain. Which, I feel like might qualify as chronic pain, but because I never had a diagnosis of any sort I'm not certain if it does

I'm sorry if my spelling is a bit weird, English isn't my first language + I'm not really used to posting on Reddit

Deep indifference. Is it bad thing? TW: suicide ideation

Should I be concerned that I don’t care about almost anything? I want my neck to stop hurting. I care about that. I work hard to rest, use meds, use ice, stretch, exercise.

Things i dont care about: showering, cleaning, maintaining social relationships, eating healthy.. basically achieving any task other than not killing myself. I have a goal every day, and it’s not to kill myself. If I make it another day I feel like I accomplished something.

Is it bad that that’s where I’m at.. for about a couple years now? Since my dad died, I’ve just had a deep indifference to accomplishing anything other than the necessary things for the loves in my life. Which I do. I plaster a smile on my face in spite of myself. No one knows.

I feel like I’m supposed to have.. moved on? Upgraded? Made new goals like, do the laundry or go for walk? My only goal has been survive and treat the pain for so long, I’m not sure if I even care about anything anymore.

I am in therapy, have a psych doc. Have pain doc. Get surgeries more frequently than I wish. I couldn’t be better set up for support to achieve my goal of surviving. However, shouldn’t there be more to life? Shouldn’t I want to maintain house and keep myself tidy and clean? I just don’t shower anymore. I don’t smell bad, so I guess I have some standards and take sink baths.

I just wonder if anyone else out there is living the way I am? Just making it another day and that’s it? I don’t want to die. I don’t want to live in pain. How am I supposed to care about trivial shit when my suffering is immense and 24/7, 365. It’s almost unbearable but I’ve managed to survive it. Sometimes I feel like I’m cosplaying as myself? I don’t feel like an imposter, I just feel like I’m pretending to keep up with what I should be? It still feels like me. Idk. Im tired. Alright,
Love to you all. 💕

Editing to add: I’m worried I’m using surviving as an excuse to not do anything else. I’m genuinely having a hard time just existing, that is no lie. But at some point shouldn’t I try to do more than that? I don’t feel ready enough because I set the goals, don’t achieve them. And could not care less. Just total indifference to them.

Any tips on how to stop fidgeting and spasms?

Background: CRPS II, chronic neuropathic pain affecting both my hands and feet. The pain is primarily a constant burning, stinging, pins-and-needles sensation that can become extremely intense, along with significant numbness, particularly in my left hand.

When my pain is bad, which is most of the time, I have uncontrolled fidgeting and spasming of my fingers and toes. When you look at my feet, you constantly are my toes curl inwards and my fingers are constantly tapping.

Problem is, this happens so much that it is causing even more pain. It sounds silly, but I can't tell whether this is voluntary or involuntary. When I notice it, I try to focus and make it stop, but 2 minutes later it starts all over again.

I was prescribed buspirone in the past for this but it didn't help.

Anyone else dealing with this and do any of you have any tips on how to deal with it?

Anxiety and new pain doc

I see a new pain doc tomorrow due to me moving to a new state…does anyone else get crazy anxiety when seeing a new doc? Coz mine is off the chain right now. Like he has high ratings but my mind flaring with will he actually listen to me? Will he be kind and patient and understanding? Amongst other things. Anyone know how to calm the mind?
