A little confused about my job position

I applied for Retail Counter Clerk which I got the job, and recieved an offer letter. On the offer letter it says I’m reporting to the main postal office in my city. There are only two. The main postal office & an outlet inside Shoppers, which I was hoping was the location. My offer letter clearly states “ postal clerk” . And I’m not sure if this is just broad term they used to generalize the position on the offer letter.

But I applied for retail counter clerk, I accepted the position, but I’m hoping to not be in the back of main postal office sorting and lifting packages all day. Can someone give me some hope? Can you tell me what you like about your job? I specifically applied for Retail Counter Clerk not Postal Clerk. I was hoping to be in an outlet at the counter, would my reporting location on my offer letter be the location I am be assigned to?

First Day After Restructuring at Our Depot

Today was the first day of restructuring and new routes at our depot, and to say it was chaotic would be an understatement! Things definitely didn't go smoothly.

For those who've already been through a restructure, does it get better? How long did it take for things to settle down and for things to run more smoothly?

Looking for a little hope after today's gong show! 😅

Wrong Postal Code, will my study permit get to my mailbox?

Hi all,

Like the title says I wrote an incorrect Postal Code on my IRCC application. The rest of my address is correct, do you think there is a good chance I will be able to receive in the mail, regardless? Or do you think it might be returned to the sender?

Thank you for your thoughts.

Hi everyone, I need some help with my Xpresspost shipment. 🙏

Hi everyone, I need some help with my Xpresspost shipment. 🙏
My passport was sent from Ottawa to Edmonton via Canada Post Xpresspost. The tracking number is MW631014292CA, and the last update was “Item processed” in Ottawa on October 13. There have been no updates since.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation or can any Canada Post employees check what might be happening? Since it’s my passport, I’m getting worried.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🙏

Sending a registered letter to my friend in Georgia 🇬🇪! Shipped the letter at the post office sept 22 but no news. The last I heard is that it’s in the Netherlands- plus there’s no expected delivery date which makes us both concerned. Any clarification would be appreciated

Xpresspost package (passport) stuck after “Item accepted”

I had a passport shipped via Xpresspost from the IRCC office in Ottawa to me in Toronto.

Yesterday (October 15) the tracking suddenly updated after being quiet for weeks:

Sept 30 – Item accepted at the Post Office (Toronto, ON)
Sep 20 – Electronic information submitted by shipper

I have no idea why the status (the Sep 30 one) only appeared now, two weeks later. Based on the tracking, the package has been “in transit” for 16 days with no further scans.

At the same time, IRCC hasn’t confirmed that they have sent the passport! But according to tracking number, they did. But why Ottawa is not mentioned and suddenly it appeared in Toronto?

I already called Canada Post and they opened a service ticket. From what I’ve seen on Reddit, those tickets are usually useless.

Any advice on what to do next would be really appreciated.

Can Canada Post send moose skull to my home?

Found a moose skull in New Brunswick while working. I'm flying home (Ontario) in 2 weeks, and wondering if Canada post is able to send it home for me. The skull has antlers intact with it, so weight/ size are factors that worry me.

Edit: the skull only has dirt that I'll clean off; fur, skin, and muscle completely gone

New casual/on-call letter carrier here... how do I navigate ECLIPSE?

I've only had a chance to receive a few calls, but it feels like each one has been different.

The first call told me about a job at a depot, and then asked if I'd like to hear about that. I pressed 1 to hear about it, but instead of telling me about it, it just told me that I'd accepted the position and should report immediately.

The second call didn't name the depot, but said that I was "required" to come in for work.

Now I've got a bit of anxiety when it comes to these calls. Is there an opportunity to learn more about the position, or is the limit of our information really just the depot?

Also, what's with that "required" message?

How can I make my mailman’s day better?

Hi! This sub has appeared on my feed a couple of times and once I even replied to a comment, and that thread and some of the posts I quickly saw got me thinking…how can make my mailman’s day better?
I recently moved to an apartment so is not like I can see them driving to my door so I can go say hi and offered some water or fruit during the summer, and since I’m non Canadian idk the rules of how much one can or cannot do here. Back home we could leave “tips” for our mailmen inside a marked envelope in our own mailbox on special holidays like Christmas, Easter, Post Office Day, etc.
Could I maybe do something like that here? Like leaving a candy with a note in my mailbox? Would I be breaking any law doing something like that?

Temp skipped over for work

Hi there! Looking for advice as im a temp postal clerk who started in summer of 2024

I never quit my job and I havent been called since the beginning of this year, I said yes to that shift

After not being called for about a month or two, I got a new job as well

I live in a small town and ive heard some things from a coworker about there being new hires at my location (back around april)

I was given info to reach out to the union rep for my area, was then told they were not the union rep for my area and they forwarded my email to another person who then said the same thing, the third I never heard back from

Ive seen my lead hand and another coworker since then who both told me things are just slow, when i asked about the new hires I was told they were hired but have no hours to give them

Im also disabled and was made aware of some uncool comments made by my lead hand about this not long before I stopped getting called which feels potentially relevant

Its now been months and I still havent been called, Ive been in and seen new people working recently, I havent yet talked to our regional manager or the union steward at my local, I will if I need to but wondering if theres another way I can go about it to avoid awkwardness and just generally looking for advice on how to approach this and wondering if theres any sort of deadline

Thanks!

Please tell them the correct procedure....

I am banned from this subreddit so I cannot respond to this.

They're talking about rural carriers with cmbs. This is RSMC procedure and that many people don't know if you live in a subdivision and your CMB is at the front of your subdivision, which is how they're installing them nowadays, and you're more than .5 km from the line of travel, which will be the location of the cmbs, you will not get your parcel to the door. Not only that, You will not get a DNC to the door either and they will leave the DNC notice in your community mailbox . Canada Post does not pay rural carriers driving their own vehicles any further than .5 km from the line of travel unless the parcel says deliver to the door all modes.

If you have not been banned from this subreddit, could you please go tell them this so they're not all losing their minds over there and blaming carriers for being lazy.

Movement in the GTA

There is currently a zone-wide bid for FT PO4s in Metro (Toronto) West Collection & Delivery. Is anybody aware of what depots might be moving in the near future? It is rumoured (but not confirmed) that the stations at 340 Matheson will be moving to Gateway/WPDH. Any other depots on the chopping block? Downsview North, maybe? The bid sheet is also unclear about which operations will be located in the "New Finch Building" at 1145 Finch Ave West.

Can anybody in this forum offer any insight? Thanks!

Parcels to Germany

Does anyone know if there is any move on accepting parcels to Germany again?

I honestly don't understand the issue.

If they charge 3 extra Euros, let me pay it and call it a day.

Why is this so difficult? And why is it only certain EU country and not all of them?

Potential Career Change

Hello everyone,

I have worked in kitchen/hospitality for quite a while, and for the last year or two have been really feeling the burnout. A friend of mine recently joined Canada Post, as a part-time, on call, carrier. He mentioned there is another posting for the same position.

From what I understand the hours can be quite poor for a while until you are full time/have some seniority, but by plan was to continue to work at the restaurant during nights for the first while, until I potentially get hired full time. I also know the work can be quite hard, but I am used to being on my feet for long hours, and am fairly athletic (played football in university, and Jiu Jitsu now).

Would this be a feasible plan? Is this a viable career to get into for my 30s and beyond?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Can Canada Post give us rain gear that's actually waterproof?

Post image
677 Upvotes

I understand Canada Post is running on a tight budget, but seriously, how are we being issued rain gear that can’t even keep us dry? We’re outside walking for hours in all kinds of weather, and the bare minimum should be equipment that actually does its job. I seem to remember that they used to provide Gore-Tex jackets, but stopped doing that at some point. I’m not asking for luxury clothing here, just something that keeps the rain out. It’s pretty ridiculous that a company relying on employees to work outdoors year round can’t provide proper waterproof gear. Anyone else fed up with the quality of our uniforms?

What can RSMCs actually wear?

Just wondering how the dress code works for RSMCs.

Can we wear our own baseball caps, shirts, hoodies, jackets, etc., or do we have to wear official Canada Post clothing?

How strict is it in practice? And how does getting uniforms work?

Thanks!

Container for parcels/packages

Heard from the neighbours that there are some porch pirates in the area.

If I get a container by my door, would postal workers put my packages inside it if I leave a sign or delivery instructions?

If I locked the container and had the combo in the delivery instructions, would they unlock the lock to deliver the package or is that asking too much?

I know I can set my delivery preference for the post office but just wondering if either of those options are easier for folks.

Rejection Email

Not sure what to do next. I have been trying to get the mail carrier position temp since last year and now when I finally got an interview they sent me a rejection email today saying they could not consider me further. I feel so dejected. Should I even try again? What could be the reason they did not hire me -after my interview? I have experience working at Amazon so I am not sure what else they need. They still have that job posted online with the deadline now extended. I even know another mail carrier that works at that location and he even let his supervisor know that he recommends me (at least thats what I think). I am so lost. Should I call them and ask why I wasnt selected?
