Post image
90 Upvotes

Being a student in one of these schools and having talked with multiple people in and outside my school, this is the list I have come up with. Again this is my list and you are free to disagree and suggest changes

Cluster 0 : IIM A,B,C

Cluster 1 : ISB, IIM L, FMS, SPJAIN, XL

Cluster 2 : IIM K,I,M, MDI, IIFT

Cluster 3 : IIT B,TISS HR,JBIMS

Cluster 4 : SIBM, IIM S, IIT D

Cluster 5 : NMIMS, IIM U,T,R,SCMHRD

Cluster 6 : IIM R, IIT KGP

Cluster 7 : Rest

Special Mention : IISC B (Falls in Cluster 3, though coz of small batch size, couldn't hear a proper verdict about it from anyone and thus omitted from the list)

Colleges falling in one Cluster can be swapped with each other

General Discussion Scored my highest ever in a mock …

Post image
57 Upvotes

I was almost about to give up my cat prep because i was scoring horrendously low in most mocks lately 18-17 total and today after not being able to give mocks for weeks due to anxiety i sat and gave a mock and scored my best.
I still have a lot of syllabus to complete since I only started recently but I’m actually so grateful
PS- ik it’s not that high for everyone - I’m just aiming for 90-95 so it’s on point for me.

Quants CAT 2026: Should I skip Geometry or give it one last week?

Need advice from people who’ve attempted CAT or done well in Quants.
I’m done with Arithmetic and Algebra, although Algebra still needs some brushing up as takes me quite some time to figure out the start but then it mostly flows well.
Arithmetic is my strongest area, and I can solve almost 90% of the questions in mocks, even if I sometimes figure out the approach after the test.
Quants is my weakest section, and I’m targeting 90–95 percentile, with around 8 attempts(i really don’t expect anything more from QA😭)
I’ve attended Geometry classes, but when solving Qs by myself, I’m at zero atm, the formulas and concepts are overwhelming me, and I’m struggling to retain any of them. At the same time, I’m scared of skipping Geometry completely in case the paper is difficult and I need those questions. I also know that just knowing formulas won’t help much without practice.
Should I skip Geometry or dedicate one hour daily for the next seven days? If I study it, which sources can help with precise learning for backup situations?
Would really appreciate realistic advice based on your CAT experience!

Rant I feel like I'm too behind

37 days left to CAT and honestly I feel like I'm very far behind. Mocks are average and I've been experiencing anxiety.

VARC is my relatively strong area. I mostly get 3/4 in RCs and VA performance keeps fluctuating. For DILR, I'm practising like 5 6 sets daily. QA is where I panic the most. Arithmetic is done but I haven't touched it for 2 weeks so I am feeling like I've forgotten it. I guess I gotta do TSD, mixtures again. For algebra, I had watched all EG videos and practised modulus, inequality. Practising logarithms rn. I've done geometry concepts and pyqs too except mensuration. I'll leave number system and do modern maths soon.

I know syllabus never feels 100% complete but this feeling of being behind is affecting my prep. I feel I haven't practised enough in comparison to others out there. How do I approach my prep properly, especially for quants till D-day?

Wisdom 200 Days of Consistency

I don't know what percentile i'll score in CAT. But this 200 days of journey has completely changed me. Never in my life i've been consistent upto this level to anything. I solved less number of problems but it was really tough in starting to manage 10-12hrs of job along with CAT preparation. Don't know how in this journey it became a habit now

Mock Reviews / Discussion 🎯 DashCAT 5 and CAT PYQ 2024 slot I

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

So I prompted chatGPT to give me a series of 2020-25 CAT PYQs in an increasing order of difficulty, and 2024 slot 1 was the easiest one. Which was pretty evident to me as I was solving. The passages weren't too dense (like cr*cku), the DILR was surprisingly easy. For the first time I was able to completely solve 3 sets (DILR was easy-medium level mostly though). Lost a few questions in QA to silly mistakes (how the hell am I supposed to stop making these silly mistakes man!)

Today onwards, I'm planning to give 1 DashCAT and 1 CAT PYQ daily.

Cheers!

Question CAT 2026: 35 days left, working full-time, and struggling with Quants and LRDI. How should I approach preparation?

I’m from an Arts background, graduated this year with a BA in Psychology. Although I studied Science in Classes 11 and 12, I didn’t have Mathematics as a subject. The last time I properly studied Maths was in Class 10, so I’m finding CAT Quants and LRDI particularly challenging.

I’m planning to apply to business schools abroad that accept CAT scores from Indian applicants, and my target is 98+ percentile.

The biggest challenge is that I also work a full-time remote job that takes up around 8 hours a day. My shifts vary between daytime and nighttime, and by the time I finish work, I’m often too exhausted to study. I’m struggling to balance work, preparation, and the need to get enough rest.

I recently attempted a mock test and realised that I still have significant gaps in my preparation, particularly in Quants and LRDI. With only 35 days left until CAT, I’m feeling stressed and not sure what to do

I’m willing to put in the work, but I need a realistic and proper strategy for the time I have left.

For those who’ve prepared for CAT while working full-time, especially those who didn’t have a strong Maths background, I’d really appreciate your advice on the following:

- How should I prioritise topics in Quants and LRDI when I can’t cover the entire syllabus?

- Would it be better to focus on a limited number of topics and master them rather than try to cover everything?

- How do you study consistently when your work shifts change and you’re mentally exhausted after work?

- Are there any specific resources or strategies that helped you improve your scores in a short period?

I’d appreciate practical advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation. I’m not looking for predictions about my final percentile. I want to figure out how to prepare as effectively as possible with the time and energy I have available.

Thanks

General Discussion 21+ LPA job in remote location or MBA?

Hey guys, need some genuine advice.
I got a core engineering job offer with 21+ LPA CTC, around 14 LPA in-hand yearly, plus free food, stay and travel.

But the location is pretty remote. All my friends will be in different cities, and honestly, there seems to be no social life here.

I'm from a Tier 1 city and college, but most people here are from Tier 3/4 colleges. No offense, I can be good friends with anyone, but for work and career discussions, I feel having people with a similar mindset around me matters.

I'm worried I'll just end up working and staying in company accommodation with no life outside work.

Should I take the job, work for 2-3 years and then do an MBA, or just prepare for MBA directly?
What would you guys do in my place?

General Discussion iski help kar do (20 words)

• Upvotes

My friend completed B.Com. (Hons.) from SRCC in 2026. He passed Class 12 in 2021 and studied at another DU college from 2021 to 2023. Then, pata nahi kya chull hui usko, he appeared for CUET again, secured a double-digit AIR, and got into SRCC, effectively restarting his undergraduate journey.

(For context, ladki ka chakkar tha bhai, baat ego tak aa gayi thi 💀😂.)

He is now preparing for CAT and wants to pursue an MBA, with the long-term goal of becoming a management consultant.

Will this academic timeline raise concerns during IIM interviews? Do consulting firms like MBB or the Big Four have filters against candidates with a two-year gap?

Also, should he mention pursuing a diploma at DU from 2021 to 2023, if applicable? Since a diploma can typically be completed in two years, would mentioning it help explain those years or raise further questions?

Could this affect his MBA admissions or consulting placements? How should he explain his academic journey during interviews?

Question Came to NMIMS SBM Mumbai for my MBA, but this huge cultural shift is making me feel lonely and inferior. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi everyone,

I don't really know how to express what I am feeling, but I genuinely need some advice. I have been keeping these feelings to myself for a long time, and I thought sharing them here might help.

I came to NMIMS SBM Mumbai to pursue my MBA with a lot of hopes and dreams. I knew that moving to Mumbai and studying at a reputed B-school would be challenging, but I never expected this cultural shift to affect me so much emotionally.

I come from a relatively small town in Maharashtra, and so many things that seem completely normal to my batchmates are completely new to me.

Sometimes, even simple things make me feel out of place. My friends casually discuss different types of food available in the canteen, like pasta, toast, and other dishes that I am not very familiar with. They talk about web series, sitcoms, fictional characters, popular references, fashion trends, and so many other things that I struggle to relate to.

Everyone seems to understand the references, laugh at the jokes, and continue the conversation naturally, while I often sit there feeling like I am missing something. I want to participate, but sometimes I don't even understand what they are talking about.

Another major struggle for me is communication in English.

I want to talk to my batchmates, express my opinions, participate in conversations, and build friendships, but I am not able to speak English as fluently as I would like. Sometimes, I know what I want to say in my mind, but when I try to express it in English, I struggle to find the right words or form sentences quickly.

I start overthinking my grammar, pronunciation, and whether people will judge the way I speak. Because of this, I sometimes remain quiet even when I want to contribute to a conversation. Later, I regret not speaking up.

In an MBA, communication and networking are so important, and seeing other people speak confidently makes me even more conscious of myself. I want to improve my English, but constantly feeling nervous around my own batchmates makes it difficult.

The worst part is that all these things together have started making me feel inferior to people around me.

I look at how my classmates dress, the way they carry themselves, the things they know, and the lifestyle they follow. I feel like I am way behind them. Sometimes, I even feel conscious about my clothes because I don't think I dress as well as they do or understand the latest fashion trends.

I know that everyone comes from a different background, but knowing this intellectually doesn't stop me from comparing myself with others.

I sometimes wonder whether people judge me for not knowing these things or for not speaking fluent English. Maybe they don't, but the feeling of not fitting in is still there.

I am now in my second trimester, and instead of feeling more comfortable, I often find myself feeling frustrated, lonely, and mentally exhausted. I came here to learn, grow, build a career, and make good friends, but there are moments when I feel like I don't belong here.

Another major issue is the cost of living in Mumbai. Food is so expensive, especially when you are trying to manage your expenses as a student. I am struggling to find affordable, proper food that I can eat regularly. When you are already mentally stressed, even figuring out what to eat every day becomes another problem.

Sometimes, everything piles up together — academics, summer internship preparation, adjusting to a new lifestyle, struggling with English communication, feeling under confident, managing expenses, and trying to fit in socially. I feel frustrated and don't always know what I should do.

I am not blaming my classmates or saying there is anything wrong with their lifestyle. They have their own backgrounds and experiences, just as I have mine. I just feel that I am struggling to adjust to a world that is very different from the one I grew up in.

Maybe I am overthinking. Maybe I am comparing myself too much. But right now, these feelings are real, and I don't know how to deal with them.

I want to improve myself, but I don't want to feel ashamed of my background, my English, or the person I am today.

So I genuinely want to ask:

- Has anyone from a small town or a modest background experienced something similar after moving to a big city or joining a reputed college?

- How did you deal with the feeling of being less knowledgeable, less fashionable, or less socially aware than your peers?

- How did you improve your spoken English and become comfortable communicating with batchmates who speak much more fluently?

- How did you start making friends and participating in conversations when you couldn't relate to the things everyone was discussing?

- How do you stop comparing yourself with others and develop confidence in your own identity?

- If you are studying at NMIMS SBM Mumbai or have lived in Mumbai as a student, how do you manage affordable, proper food and the cost of living?

I would genuinely appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or even a few words of encouragement from people who have been through this.

If you are going through something similar right now, please share your experience, too. It would help me to know that I am not the only one feeling this way.

I came to Mumbai to build a better future for myself. I don't want this experience to turn into a constant feeling of inferiority and loneliness.

I just want to feel comfortable being myself, make genuine friends, improve my English, enjoy my MBA journey, and grow without constantly feeling that I am not good enough.

Thank you for reading this. I really needed to get this off my chest.

Rant Wasted two hours (the timer)

I had just started the quants section of the test and suddenly there was a power outage. I quickly connected to my hotspots and soon as the test reloaded it showed that 1 hour 18 minutes are left🤡 Like I love this but it's not going to help??? I contacted their customer service, they said the issue will be resolved in 48 hours, what is the point then?! So annoyed. If anyone has faced the same issue, please let me know if there is a way to fix this without consulting the IMS technicians? I have already tried logging out and then logging in again, it did not help

Profile Review SPJIMR Profile-Based Call Chances (GEM, 9/8/8)

Hi everyone,

What are my chances of getting a pure profile-based call from SPJIMR?

Profile:

  • GEM, 9/8/8
  • Computer Engineering from a decent Mumbai college
  • Started working at JPMorgan (IB Middle Office) this year
  • Published an IEEE conference research paper (not sure if this adds any value)

Would appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have received profile-based calls in previous years.

Thanks!
