Open truck bed leads to lost soccer equipment

Hey my friends! I know this is a stretch but I wanted to communicate this since the items were for younger athletes with names written on them.

If you happen to have drove off from Sheetz on alamance road in a Grey truck around 740pm. Your tail gate was down and you lost a few pieces of soccer equipment without noticing.

I gathered up the equipment and gave it to the sheetz management team.

this place is hell

I've lived here for the entirety of my 21 years on earth. if you're thinking about moving here you can expect to see, gay dudes in obnoxious vehicles sitting in the academy parking lot every night especially on weekends, a bleach blonde inbred getting railed behind the mall at 3am, a very long cookout line because these hillbillies love them some mediocre fried food, potholes EVERYWHERE, cops on every corner because of the ignorant guys who waste their lives showing off their big hillbilly trucks because if they didn't everyone would find out that they are indeed all gay. expect to feel like you're in the movie groundhogs day for the rest of your life.

ISO new primary care doctor?

Anyone have any recommendations?

Preferably a woman. Preferably someone experienced with and receptive with chronic, long term health conditions/concerns. That will actually listen thoroughly and not blow me off.

I previously posted in this group when I first moved here 2 years ago, and established with a PCP recommended here who has since left the practice. Needing new help please!

Nothing like Greensboro. I am an introvert and do not like big crowds. Just a spot where I can talk to a few people.

Queer Spaces for Hobbies, Socials, and Skill-Building

I am making this post on behalf of Queery NC (Formerly Triad Gaymers). We're a local nonprofit here in the triad focused on creating accessible social events and spaces for queer people and allies beyond the apps and night life.

I wanted to share a quick update on what we are running right now, drop our new Tabletop RPG interest form, and share some details on our funding and local sponsorship opportunities.

Current Programs and Offerings

  • LGBTQ+ Board Game Night: Currently we meet every-other week at Dragon’s Hoard on Mondays from 6:30p to 10p.
  • Online Game Nights: Every week we alternate between Fortnite and a large variety of Party Games where you only need to have a device and watch the stream to play along!

Tabletop RPG Interest Form

We are building out new TTRPG groups for games like D&D, Call of Cthulhu, and various other systems. We want to make sure we match players with local Game Masters effectively.

If you want to join a group or run a game, please take a few minutes to fill out our Tabletop RPG Interest Form here:Ā https://ee.kobotoolbox.org/x/kcOM9IxP

Where Our Funding Goes

We want to keep our operations completely transparent. Every dollar we raise goes directly back into local Greensboro programs, specifically covering:

  • Skill-Building and Hobby Programs: Creating welcoming spaces to learn new hobbies and build skills, specifically focusing on reaching people who may have historically lacked access or felt excluded due to gender identity, background, or other barriers
  • Materials and Equipment: Buying shared resources like rulebooks, dice, tools, and crafting supplies so financial cost is never a barrier to entry
  • Venue Rental Fees: Securing comfortable local spaces to keep our general events free or low cost for the community
  • Basic Operating Costs: Covering necessary overhead like insurance and legal fees to keep our programs running safely and legally

Sponsorship Opportunities

We are looking for local businesses, shops, and community supporters who want to sponsor our upcoming events.

Partnering with us helps keep our community programs accessible while giving your business visibility across our local events and social channels. If you run a local business or want to see our full sponsorship packet, feel free to send a DM here or email us atĀ [info@queerync.org](mailto:info@queerync.org).

Links and Contact

You can find our socials, discord, and other information here:Ā https://www.linktr.ee/queerync336

Thanks for reading and for supporting local community efforts in Greensboro. Happy to answer any questions in the comments.

Possibly relocating due to work. Currently live in the Ardmore neighborhood in WS. Is there something comparable here? I absolutely love this area and ideally would like something similar.

Hey NC - Burlington, NC - Did you know that these amendments will show up on your ballot? Make sure to do your research, as they are not what they seem. Scroll through the images and check out the body of this post for more information.

The images above were taken from the slide deck of a presentation put on by Down Home NC, which has an extensive summary here, and you can sign the pledge to vote no here.

Don't let the wording fool you. These amendments aren't about you, they are about corporations (think Duke Energy, Data Centers, and outside corporate interests) and the 1%, and we don't need amendments to pass the same exact laws. As I stated in the title, once amendments are passed, they are extremely difficult to undo, whereas normal legislation can be changed as the need arises.

"If passed, these ballot measures would drastically reduce state and local government funds, which could cause layoffs of educators, firefighters, emergency services, and other public workers — especially when combined with huge federal budget cuts coming down from Congress. It could mean the end of food stamps and affordable healthcare programs – which could in turn shut down hospitals and grocery stores and further impact NC farmers."
- Down Home NC

What is more, the NC income tax rate is already scheduled to fall below 3.5% in 2027, and still more by 2036 (image 5). As such, the income tax amendment will not affect you in the foreseeable future, but it will eliminate the possibility of corporations ever paying more than 3.5%, and any new legislation that tried to move the corporate tax rate above 3.5% would be unconstitutional.

At the same time, the other amendment seeks to cap property tax increases by local governments, but the wording is vague at best and doesn't say what it actually means to do, allowing for any number of interpretations they could argue as "constitutional" once passed. Regardless, taken in tandem with the income tax amendment, the mere nature of the other amendment would be to squeeze local communities of funds. When taxes levied by the state are reduced, the burden falls to localities. When taxes levied by localities are reduced, the burden falls on YOUR community. Think higher sales tax, fines, fees, parking, etc. and hits to local infrastructure - schools, roads, buildings, sidewalks, parks and recreation, libraries, Medicaid AND SNAP, etc.

In wrapping up, I'll reiterate once more that lawmakers do not need amendments to the NC State Constitution to achieve any what the amendments would achieve. Laws could just as easily passed - laws that could be revisited and adjusted over time in efforts toward a fairer tax code. Again, they are trying to rob the middle and lower class for the benefit of the wealthy and corporations, and lock that structure in for decades.

Don't fall for it!! VOTE NO on both tax amendments, and while you are at it, vote no on the Voter ID amendment. In case you haven't noticed, NC already requires Voter ID in order to vote.

Pre-post warning: do not dox anyone. Do not post personally identifiable information such as phone numbers or addresses.

I recently met a young lady at the planet fitness off Huffman Mill road. All I know is her first name is Rachel, she had long blond hair, she works at some kind of furniture store, is from the area and travels a lot for work. We had a good conversation and I have been kicking myself everyday for not asking for her number or if she would like to go on a date. Unfortunately, I haven't seen her since.

All I'll say is if she happens to read this post or you think you know her, if she is interested, Will would like to take her out on a date. If not, no stress or harm done.

Edit: saw her today, asked her if she'd like to go on a date, she said yes.

Karaoke in Burlington

Post image
0 Upvotes

New Karaoke at the Food Hall near May Memorial on Tuesdays at 7pm!! Kids can sing too. It's been happening about a month and they are a blast

Edit: I'm literally just sharing a karaoke event that just started up that I have enjoyed participating in. I enjoy karaoke and think more people doing it would make it more fun. It's not my company, it's not my logo stuff. If you don't want to do it, fine. Their karaoke event brings more business for the local restaurants within the Burlington Food Hall that have been cycling because not enough people go there to eat and support the restaurants. Want to offer to design their logos? Go talk to them and market yourself.

Anyone going to the beach this week and could save some crabs?

Help me save these hermit crabs!

I think they're thin striped hermit crabs.

Is anyone going to the beach this week and could return the little guys to their natural habitat?

I just got back from North Topsail beach and I accidentally kidnapped two hermit crabs. I thought I checked my shells, but apparently not thoroughly enough.

They have survived several days already. I would like to save them somehow.

Alamance Roundabout App

Has anyone explored the Alamance Roundabout platform? I think the idea is good, originally its was the Burlington Roundabout but they relaunched as Alamance since we heavily identify with our neighbors such as Graham, Saxaphaw, Mebane etc. Hopefully with the relaunch adoption will be better, I dont think they got enough participation the first go round.

E. Willowbrook Drive

If you’re walking your dog, jogging or just strolling, please use the walkways and not the street. This is especially important on E. Willowbrook Drive - the last block between Davis St. and Front St.

When turning right onto E. Willowbrook Dr from Front St. it is difficult to see anyone walking toward traffic. There’s a lot of shade and you blend in.
