Rant As a premium user, why can't I apply a filter to the gender category?

I am a man, been on Bumble for years, and have lifetime premium from a deal they offered a few years ago.

I can set filters for everything. Star symbol, religion, etc. But the one thing I can't set a filter for is gender/sex. Which this isn't a thing of "trans women aren't women", I totally respect whatever they want to identify as. But they just aren't women that I would want to date.

If bumble has that as a selectable category of identification, why isn't there the ability to filter by that category, but we can filter by every other category?

And I am not talking about the women who select the woman option and then list in their bio that they are trans (which can be annoying, but it is easy to just swipe left on them).

But if someone is going out of their way to select the category they identify with, why cant we just have rhe ability to filter by that category?

For people who identify as these minority categories it would let them get people who are actually interested in them, instead of people who match but then unmatch after reading their profile. And for people not interested in those people it would help them not have to sprt through as many profiles.

Seems like it would be a win for everyone that Bumble doesnt want to give us.

General Question for men

I’m a 37-year-old woman, and I’m genuinely curious about men’s honest opinions on this.

When you come across a woman aged 35–40 on a dating app who has never been married, what goes through your mind? Do you wonder why she’s still single? Do you see it as a red flag, or does it not really matter to you?

Would you still be interested in dating or marrying a woman in this age range? Does her age or the fact that she has never been married affect your perception of her?

I’m asking because I want to understand the male perspective, especially when it comes to dating apps. Please feel free to share your honest thoughts, even if they’re not necessarily positive. No judgment here. I genuinely want to understand how men see this.

Thank you.

PLEASE RESPECT THE ANSWERS ON THIS POST.

Hey peops! As noted, I’m just looking for feedback on if there’s anything I can improve. For what it’s worth~I get one match every three weeks. And they are usually brilliant in many ways, intelligent, warm-hearted, classy, having similar goals and are absolutely stunning.
They just usually don’t write anything.

I know my age is a hot topic for like everyone, but feel free to mention it if you need to. And yes, I look exactly as I do in the pics. I just take really good care of myself and don’t drink or do any drugs etc. Thank you for your time and consideration:)

Hey folks!

Straight male, 34 years old. 5'10" in height. Nerdy software engineer based in Texas that competes in Olympic-style weightlifting on the side.

I'm putting together a Bumble profile, though I've paused it from being searchable on the app for now.

Here's my photos that I would be uploading and in order of how they would be uploaded... The thing is I'm pretty sure I'm not super attractive-looking in any of these pictures. I tried to put some variety in these photos in terms of my beard. I sometimes may have a beard on or I may be clean shaven.

Please do tell me what looks good, what doesn't look good, and in what order you would recommend these photos be placed.

The order the photos are currently uploaded is also the order they would show on Bumble.

Thank you everyone for your time and advice! 🙏

Rant Messaged frequency

Girls how do you feel when you match and the guys take forever to reply back? For me that’s such a turn off. I can handle hours with good replies, but then there’s guys who don’t reply for a whole day, or just send one message per day, and it’s hard to have a conversation like that, I unmatch them immediately unless I’m really attracted to them. What about you?

Rant Why 80% of men use 3+old pictures of themselves in bumble?

My experience on the app has been this so far, they look handsome and them you ask for an actual picture and they look extremely diferent, weight, facial hair, even lot of gray hair if they're 35+. Isn't this catfishing?

App Help Anyone know how to cancel a Premium subscription?

• Upvotes

I used Apple Pay to purchase one a few weeks ago but no longer want it. However, I don’t see it in the subscriptions list on my phone settings and the ‘Manage subscriptions’ no longer shows under the subscription details section in the app. I just updated the app and restarted my phone but can’t seem to find where to cancel a subscription

App Help Can't contact chat support.

I have been trying to request my data for a month to no avail. Whenever I tap on "Chat Support" I only get a blank screen and I've tried at least 10 times now. I have also looked on the Bumble website and there's no email or something to contact them directly. It's infuriating. What could I do?

Funny Share a time you've swiped left because of a cursed name

• Upvotes

It could've been the love of your life, but you swipe left because it's the same name as your brother, or your mom. They have the same name as your ex, or your dog.

Maybe it's the name of your child.

What are your sad/funny matches you've missed out on because you just couldn't do it?

Rant Met a cricketer on bumble

I met a Hong Kong associate cricketer on dating app who turned out to have a wife and 6 children. The aftermath has been its own kind of horror story

Three months ago i met a guy who is an associate cricketer in Hong Kong on a dating app. I had been single for years and decided to try online dating. We both belonged to same culture but grew up in HK. He had told me he is a PE teacher on our first date i discovered he is a cricketer. Until then i didnt even know that cricket is played in hong kong. We started talking, went on dates, he was like a perfect gentleman, kind, taking things slow, we went for walks and massage together. . I began to believe I was getting to know someone who was genuinely interested in me. He snapped me all day everyday, sent morning messages, called me on tours and shared his failures and wins. We spoke regularly for nearly 3 months during which he went on multiple crixket tours. All of this was visible on his social media.

On our first date, I asked him a straightforward question.

“Are you married?”

His reply was:

“I've been focusing on my career. This just hasn't happened. I wish to find a loyal partner who can understand my lifestyle.”

Here was a man telling me that his career had taken priority, that finding a partner was something he still wanted, and that he hoped to meet someone loyal who could understand the demands of his life as a cricketer. I felt moved like i had met the right person. We were both seeking something genuine i had imagined.

Eventually, 12 weeks later, discovered that he had a wife and six children.

Six children.

During these months he said things like 'just stick with me' 'i will treat you like a queen' 'i dont want to label it but i want a deep, close friendship like very very close' 'don't be scared. I will protect you. You can trust me.'

I planned to visit him on his tour to malaysia and he actively encouraged me to come. I travelled to Malaysia to see him. I had even made him a painting.

Then i decided to dig deeper and discovered 1 photo of him with a veiled woman and two kids. I asked around in cricket community and discovered the truth that shocked me deeply - he was married and had 6 kids. I was in malaysia, having travelled to meet this man and holding in my hand this painting and a picture of him with two kids on my phone. Struggling to make sense. I asked him and he said yeah i am married and hace 6 kids. No apologies. No guilt. I could see in his eyes that i had now become an inconvenience. I asked him if he is at least going to apologise for lying to me and he said 'i have nor done anything wrong i have only treated you with respect'

I felt hurt. I told him how much he hurt me to which he responded 'ok i am sorry lets talk about some other topic'

There is a particular kind of confusion in being hurt by someone and still wanting comfort from that same person.

It has been a month but i still cry when i think of that woman who carried a painting with so much love. I cry for the hope i had in this relationship. I blocked him and moved on but this betrayal crushed me in ways i didnt omagine before. Since then, I have found myself checking his social media compulsively. Looking at his pictures, watching his cricket updates and seeing him out having dinner or enjoying himself. His life appears to have continued as normal, while I am still trying to make sense of what happened.

The hardest part is that I don't just question him. I question myself.

How did I believe him? Why do I still think about him? Why does a photograph of him enjoying his life have the power to hurt me? Why am I spending my time trying to understand someone whose life I no longer have any part in?

I would genuinely like to hear from people who have experienced serious dating deception.

How did you stop looking for answers from the person who hurt you? How did you stop wondering whether they ever think about what they did? How did you stop replaying conversations, searching for the moment when everything should have become clear? And how did you eventually reach a point where their life stopped mattering to you? I feel trapped in a nightmare.

Perhaps what hurts most is that I went into this wanting something simple: an honest connection with someone who shared my background and whom I could trust.

I never expected that the question I asked on our very first date would become a conversation I would replay in my head long after the relationship was over.

How can someone hide, deliberately conceal a whole life with a wife and 6 kids from all social media and continue to act single in his public life? How??

Advice Women do not message me first anymore or just a fews

During the summer, about 1 in 3 of my matches would message me first. So, for every 10 matches, around 3 or 4 women would initiate the conversation.

But over the past few weeks, things have changed dramatically. Now, maybe only 1 in 10 matches messages me first. The difference is like night and day, even though I'm using the exact same profile.

What could explain such a sudden change?

General Inadvertently turned off date mode

Lost all my matches 😭 made new accounts and still can’t find my previous matches, not appearing on profiles deck anymore. Didn’t have the chance to exchange socials with the guy I met.

My mistake, I don’t read sometimes. Didn’t notice that turning off date mode will erase all matches

Advice Spray and Pray Method

Ok. I understand that this is (probably rightly) looked down upon, however, guys, be honest: how many of you are utilizing a "spray and pray" approach? By "spray and pray," I mean essentially spam liking absolutely every profile, and then filtering later if/when people match with you.
