Hey everyone,
I’m hoping to get some honest perspective or advice from locals who might have some life experience to share. I’m a 25-year-old international student (F1) currently wrapping up my MS in Computer Science at UB, and to be completely honest, I am struggling right now and feeling pretty inadequate.
On the career front, I’m working incredibly hard. I have a great GPA, about three years of prior software engineering experience before moving here, and I even managed to land a summer internship this year. But despite grinding on applications, I can’t seem to land a single interview right now. I never thought I would be doing this poorly in life, and the constant rejection is making me feel like I’m just not good enough at anything I do.
On top of that, the isolation is really getting to me. I’m 25 and have been single my whole life. Almost all my friends are in relationships and have someone to share their feelings and daily lives with, and I feel like I am losing out on a major part of life. I’ve tried dating apps, and while I think I look decent enough—I don’t have a crazy six-pack, and cook most of my own meals instead of eating junk—I get zero matches.
I’m starting to question what I’m doing wrong in life. If anyone has advice on navigating the local tech scene, figuring out the dating world here, or just a reality check on how to pull myself out of this rut, I would really appreciate it.
