SPOILERS OK - GAME THREAD

Use this thread to chat about the TV finals before, during and after the telecasts. Have questions? Post them below and I will do my best to answer them.

CBS Sports Net is offered on most cable and some streaming services. If you are a cord-cutter and don't subscribe for either of those, you could try a free trial to YouTube TV (21 days) or Hulu Live TV (3 days).

The World Series of Bowling is 5 events held over 2 weeks. This post is for the 4 Animal Patterns only. There will be a separate post for the 5th event (World Championship) which will have its TV finals take place in June. Each Animal Pattern pays $20k for first place.

All Animal Pattern events have the same format: 10 games qualifying (2, 5 game blocks same day), then cut to top 12. Top 4 qualifiers get a bye in bracket match play. Seeds 5-12 will bowl on TV to determine who meets the players with the byes. All will be carried out on TWO TV SHOWS the same day on CBS Sports Net.

All 15# with Turbo Thumb, span is very close to my other balls, might just need different finger inserts.

Picked up all of these for $80 total. I feel like I have a good arsenal for all conditions.

What do you think?

Gear Looking for a ball to fit below my Alpha Crux

• Upvotes

Need some arsenal help. I’m looking for a ball to slot in below my alpha crux for when it starts hooking too early and rolls out. I have a Cove currently, but even at 2000 grit I find it to be too clean and smooth on the back. I was looking at maybe a Phaze 2 to fill the spot, but I’d like to hear some other options!

Scores Games 27-30 as a bowling noob

Using reddit to document my noob bowler journey. Stopped bowling around 13. Had a 144 average in youth league, 188 high game one handed. Well its been 32 years, started up middle of September, started bowling 2 handed.

Today went out to open bowling to work on drills (foul line drill, one step drill & an approach drill). Did 4 games of drills, then bowled a series of 3 in games 5-7. 212, 183, then tied my PB 224 & set my PB series record at 613. Also 1st time ive bowled multiple 200 games in a session. Went back to drills for 4 more games, really focusing on my approach, hand position, release, and rolling vs throwing the ball. Game 12 bowled a serious game to end my practice session. 216. Absolutely stoked.

Lot of 1st today. 1st practice session bowling multiple 200 games. Highest spare conversion rate. Highest strike %, highest pocket hit %. I am officially 30 games into bowling as a 2 hander after 32 years no bowling. Arsenal: 15 lb Hammer black pearl. Spare ball: 15 lb Hammer Axe

Building an arsenal for the first time/gremlin questions

Never actually built a bag. I just bought balls that I thought were cool before I actually got into the science of things. I’m looking to start switching to all Storm/Storm umbrella products. Any suggestions for that would be really appreciated. I am a righty 2H. I don’t know my devs but I sit around 13-14.5 MPH.

Also, would building a whole bag out of just the 3 gremlins be a thing that would work? Wicked first out the bag, then Tour X 2nd and finally the original Gremlin.

Second time averaging over 100, still a bit inconsistent and need to clean up more spares but I’m getting there! Any tips you guys know to help improve consistency? Overall average is 93 in ~20 games, I feel like I need more hook to hit the pocket more often as I usually smack the 3-6 pocket or miss a little left and hit the 1-2 pocket (righty) focusing on aim right now but when I aim where I want I need more hook to do what I want. Using artic vibe 14lb. Either way happy in my progress and wanted to share :)

Bowling Video Game - The Final Lane Updated Trailer

Hi, I posted here last week and got an amazing response from the r/bowling community! We recently pushed a ton of updates and updated the trailer with some better visuals! This will be my last update for a while we work on a demo to be ready in December!

--

The Final Lane is a bowling roguelike set in Hell where you draft balls that help you climb through Hell for the ultimate prize: a shot at Satan and a chance at redemption.

We are a small indie dev team of 3 with a passion for bowling & video games! In this game, you bowl with your mouse ( dragging up & down ) with real physics that feel like bowling!

This isn't traditional bowling however! In The Final Lane you are bowling in Hell. Draft and consume bowling balls to alter your next bowl & defeat an enemy standing in your way to victory and the possibility of unholy redemption.

Light the fuse on a ball to explode surrounding pins, nudge the ball after your throw, even split the ball in two to maximize your results!

If that sounds like your kind of game, feel free to check out our Steam page, wishlist it and/or play the open playtest on steam :)

Been bowling with this new ball and the edge of the thumb hole has been digging in the bottom of my thumb? I’m wondering if it’s been drilled wrong. This is the first time a ball has really been this harsh on my thumb

I just got my hands on it the owner of the ball passed away a few years ago it's an old og rubber cork ball would it be safe to keep stored in the ball bag in the car or will it burst like the newer balls I've seen after sitting in improper temps, humidity and whatnot

Does anyone know where to find drilling instructions for the Evil Eye block for no thumb bowlers? I can’t find anything online but I could have sworn I remember hearing about there being one.

First time bowling since I was a kid

I've been working across the street from a bowling alley for the last 10 years and have never stepped foot in there. Yesterday I had some time to kill after work so I figured I would try it.

I was never taught how to bowl. I would just go for the occasional birthday party or with my mom on a day off from school. I ended up playing 5 games in about an hour yesterday. Just rolling one after another after another and I worked up a little bit of a sweat surprisingly too. I had a blast just throwing balls! It didn't hurt that in my last game I bowled a 182 and got 5 strikes in a row! That felt amazing because I don't think I've really bowled at all in the last 20 years.

I decided to record myself just to see how it looks. I've always been a gamer so critique and self-awareness drives me to be better at the things I do. My index finger near the nail was kind of sore so I googled the grip and apparently it's not correct for me to use my thumb, index, and middle in the holes. 🤷 I guess I'll have to try thumb, middle, and ring next time. I also noticed that I take 3 steps and I bowl straight. Not sure how good or bad any of this is to be honest.

Anyways, here's the video of my 5 strikes. I'm hoping for any advise, pointers, etc. Thanks!

Gear Bowling Arsenal

Im a recently switched 2 handed been bowling for about 11 years now at the high school level right now, about 15-16 mph, 16lb balls, and I’m not sure about my rev rate since switching. I’m having trouble finding a good ball with all the bowling balls currently out there. I have a Jackal Onyx and a Storm Ice Spare Ball. I’m looking to get a few more balls to cover the major gaps that are in my arsenal without having any major overlaps. The arsenal that I currently have in mind is Jackal Onyx, Crown78U, Concept, Rocket A.I., Gremlin Tour-X. I’m really just needing help to know if this is a good arsenal or if there is any changes you would personally do.
