Sometime between Sunday 10/11 at 5pm and Friday 10/16 at 6pm someone stumbled across nearly 2 cord of firewood rounds cut to 16" lengths and piled on a spur road off Little Beaver Creek Road. That person apparently decided "finders keepers" and took all of it. Nearly two full cord. That's around 4 full size truck beds full of wood, neatly stacked and nearly overflowing.
To whoever took that firewood: I want you to know I dedicate a weekend every year to cutting that firewood, driving it back to Boise, splitting it, delivering it to an elderly neighbor, and stacking it for the cost of the firewood permit and fuel ($40 per cord rather than the going rate of nearly $300). I took one load (2 cord) back last weekend and came back this weekend to retrieve the reminder. You took every last piece. This wasn't on the beaten path and you likely had to make at least a few trips. You had to have known someone was coming back for it. No one leaves that much wood piled that for someone else to take.
To whoever took that firewood: I hope you really needed that wood, but given that you were able to get up that narrow, beat up road and load up 2 cord, I have to imagine that you're able bodied enough to cut your own. I have to imagine you're one of the people who leaves half burned cans and glass bottles in firepits, tosses empties on the side of forest service roads, spotlights big game, and otherwise generally thinks that morals and the law only apply to them when it's convenient.
To whoever took that firewood: Every time you feed your stove with that stolen firewood, I hope you imagine an elderly man in mid- to late- February looking at his nearly empty stack of firewood and thinking about if next week he wants to pay the power bill for electric heat or wake up cold. Everytime you burn that wood, I hope that thought sucks the warmth from the room you're heating.
To whoever took that firewood: You suck.
