Politics Is HJR4 one of the dumbest resolutions ever written?
I dont even care where you stand on weed legalization. This sets a terrible precedent. They're just asking people to vote their own rights away.

Question Just found this turtle on the road in front of my house.
Just found this turtle on the road in front of my house. Any ideas what I should do with it? I feel like I see these all the time at Esther Simplot Park but not sure if it’s appropriate to take it there.
Update: the Boise Reptile Zoo said they will take it. We added some water and rocks to the tank so should be ok overnight. Thanks everyone!

Discussion Bluebird social. How’s the music fest going?
First off I loved green acres, then heard they were pushed out by private equity. Now there’s the music festival happening, genuinely haven’t heard what the turnout is like. Passion pit is a better headliner than what treefort has had in years, which is a weird flex for food truck park. Is there a good turnout?

Politics Power To The Workers!
The union rally put on by Kaylee Peterson at the capital 10/14. (More clips to be added later on the YouTube account.)
Union workers fight for the baseline treatment for all workers the ceaseless attacks on them and other communities by the current administration effects all of us vote check your registration, vote early and help your company to vote the best you can (carpooling helping others to register). People being unengaged with politics is why things are bad societies**only** function to the benefit of the people when the people have their voice and use it.

Question I miss the Elfsong Tavern Party!
This may be a little niche, but I recently went to the Elfsong Tavern party at the Adelmann in downtown Boise and absolutely loved the environment. I've been missing that kind of atmosphere ever since and would love to find more events like it—or honestly just meet some people who are into the same kind of stuff.
I used to play D&D and really miss it, and I'm definitely interested in getting back into tabletop games and similar nerdy shenanigans. I'm also fairly new to Boise again after being away for about eight years, so I'm still trying to find my people.
Where do the fellow nerds around Boise hang out? D&D groups, tabletop nights, fantasy-themed events, gaming shops, Renaissance/fantasy stuff, or just groups of people who like getting together and embracing their inner nerd—I'm interested.
Basically, I'm looking for some fun environments where I can meet people, make some friends, and get back into the things I've been missing. Recommendations welcome!

Discussion Study finds that Idaho ranks 4th for having the most future-proof workforce in the country. It had a 124.3% growth in future-tech private businesses from 2020-2025, the highest in the nation by far. Also 34.8% of degrees rewarded have been in science and engineering!

Discussion Any Tips on Connecting w/people & Community
If anyone has tips on plugging into social groups/events/activities in the area, I'd be much obliged.
I checked Meetup and it honestly makes the Boise area look like a ghost town. I know there's more going on, just not sure how to get plugged in.
Not into the church thing, not into bars because I don't drink. More into outdoor activities, sports, and a light dose of spiritual hippy stuff once in a while. Yes, well aware I'm in the wrong place for that!
But there must be some semblance of solid community around here, that doesn't revolve around politics or religion?

Lost/Stolen Stolen Specialized Brand Bike
My husband left his bike in our alley to run our toddler inside for bedtime and someone stole it.
Taken from Longmont Alley (near Pennsylvania St and Broadway, south of Garfield Elementary).
It is a black Specialized Rockhopper mountain bike with a front and rear rack, and a child seat on the front tube. The ride-along bike visible at the back of this photo was not attached at the time.
Police report #2026615472
We will be asking our neighbor for her security camera footage to forward to the police as well. If you see or know who took this bike, please let me or the police know. We bike everywhere as a family and our kids will be very disappointed about not being able to ride for a while.
Edit: Just found our serial number from an REI workorder, it has been registered to the Boise Bike Index.

Discussion Bricknology Closing
Hi,
If you like LEGO, but also like to support a local store.... maybe do what I did and reach out to LEGOs customer service? I used the option to request LEGO being sold in my store then I said the following.
My favorite Lego store Bricknowlogy is being forced to close because you aren't distributing LEGO to them anymore. Me and most of the surrounding area love this store. It has been there for 13 years and has been the place to go for the "cool" sets forever... I am super upset that I can't shop at my favorite store with my favorite people ever again. Their address is 228 E Plaza Dr Ste P, Eagle, ID 83616. Their website http://bricknowlogy.com/. You are actually destroying a living memory from my childhood and the ability for my kids to have a similar one.... I refuse to go to a big box store to get Lego.... Forcing us to go look at the sets in corporate environments is like just like when barnes and noble killed the local bookstore. (then amazon basically ended barnes and noble) We want to go to a local store and support a local family. It is part of the whole enjoyment of Lego... People and spending time with them. I have bought 100s of Lego sets... I build them with my kids. Please don't make a dumb decision based on KPI's when it could still be just as profitable to let this store stay in existence. I am not going shopping at a big box store for LEGO, and the LEGO store is fine, but it is a terrible location that I also don't like and is hard to access due to parking. Remember that a more efficient supply chain for LEGO can just as easily result in a difficult purchase chain for your customer. The final result could result in a net negative, and you can't just bring back the bricknology store... it will be gone for good on october 31st due to corporate decisions... How many other stores are you doing this to? This might be an easy decision for the right distributing manager, but it is effecting 1000s of customers in Idaho. Please reverse this decision and reach out to the store so they can stay open?
For all I know I could be too late trying to do this... I only just found out bricknology is closing...
But maybe there is still a chance? Take some time and try as well?

Question Two Motorcycles & Ford Escape flashing red and white on State St
I just ran into two motorcycles (definitely not police) with red and white flashing lights escorting a second gen Ford Escape (not Explorer, not police) also with red and white flashing lights.
The motorcycles pulled into the intersection of Eagle Rd and State St and stopped traffic while the Escape sauntered through. I say sauntered because nobody was in a hurry. They headed towards downtown on State at less than the speed limit.
Does anybody have any idea what on earth was going on? I was thinking organ transport but that's a puzzling route to take.

Question Someone hit me in the Fred Meyer (Overland/Five Mile) parking lot on September 21st (Monday). If you saw, please lmk
Edit: I don’t see anywhere on the Boise PD website where I can report a regular traffic accident. I see the option for crimes such as hit and runs, and then report for an abandoned vehicle. Also, I have talked to insurance, the cops, as well as the manager at Fred Meyer: I cannot get the footage from Fred Meyer any other way aside getting a subpoena via opening a lawsuit.
Original Post: I was leaving Fred Meyer when an employee began pushing carts into the lane, so I stopped to let them proceed. As I was waiting, a woman in an older silver Mercedes sedan backed into my driver side rear door. We exchanges information and I put in a claim, and of course she’s claiming not at fault and is telling her insurance a completely different story.
A police report was not taken because cops don’t fucking take reports on private property—one did show up and got me her insurance ID, which was good because I wouldn’t have gotten it otherwise. She said she didn’t have it and “didn’t know why,” but now I think she was lying.
Anyway, Fred Meyer does have cameras. but the footage has to be subpoenaed, and I will have to actively sue her to allow a lawyer to do that. Which I will, if Geico still claims not at fault after I have the notes from the repair sent to them. I’ll sue her for the repairs, and the stress purely out of principle.
However, if anyone saw this happen, please let me know—I know a couple of people stopped to ask her if she was okay because her arm was in a cast and she seemed disoriented (she told me she had broken several ribs, and her arm in two places, so I’m not convinced she wasn’t on pain killers since everything she said was slow and slurred).
Also, if anyone has had a similar experience locally and hired a lawyer that you ended up liking, please drop your recommendations.
I doubt she will see this, but if you do see this Akberet, please just tell the truth and save me the trouble. We both know what that footage is going to show.

Opinion Opinion: Why the daughter of 'Idaho Chooses Life' founder is supporting Proposition 1
“I have spent years trying to understand how someone can dedicate his life to "saving babies" while ignoring one of his own. There is something deeply painful about watching your father fight for every cause other than you. It feels as though my dad’s pro-life values end ex utero.”
