Bitcoin Core Updates Security Policy as AI Makes Bugs Easier to Find
Bitcoin Core has changed how it discloses security vulnerabilities in its software.
Developer Antoine Poinsot said AI language models have made some flaws easy to rediscover.
Bugs labeled “easily discoverable” will now get fixes as soon as possible across all maintained versions.
Other bugs will still follow disclosure timelines based on how severe they are.
Critical bugs fall outside the standard policy and would likely need a special process.

First Bitcoin Logo??
My father works as an engraver of medals. Some time ago, he was commissioned to engrave a medal for a woman whose son had passed away—the woman was a foreigner, incidentally. The medal had to feature a specific logo, which the woman explained to my father was "Bitcoin" (though he doesn’t recall the details very clearly, as it was quite a long time ago).
Recently, he came across the logo and showed it to me. We aren’t certain exactly when this request was made, but it was definitely between 10 and 20 years ago.
Could this be one of the earliest versions of the Bitcoin logo? And is it possible that the woman’s son was one of the creators of Bitcoin, or someone who played a significant role in its development?

US equities markets will never crash again and the reason will cause a tidal wave into hard assets
the US government can not and will not allow equities to crash in real USD terms for a protracted amount of time, it is now a matter of national security that they don’t
they have gone all in on AI and so any faltering in debt servicing that occurs there will be backstopped by them, bookmark this post
I’m not talking about the Fed put
This is more like the DoD put
The US gov sees civil unrest spreading across Europe due to the unaffordability crisis they are experiencing there, a collapse in equities will reduce tax revenue to the extent that they will be forced to cut spending, if they cut spending it will lead to riots because the poorest are hit hardest by austerity measures, and the poorest have the least to lose
This austerity will be exploited by the US’ enemies to great effect if allowed to occur
unaffordability riots in the US won’t be like the riots in Europe because the police in the US will use deadly force and it will appear more like a civil war than simple rioting
the US in the unique position of being able to export inflation to the rest of the world via the USD so the expansion of the money supply caused by the backstopping of the AI build out won’t be as big a problem domestically as it will be out there
They might refer to it as “nationalization of AI” or something similar but when you hear it, it means they are going to print covid level money into the system and equities will pump as more and more people realize that the market itself is backed by the US government
this backstopping serves the dual purpose of monetizing the $40T they already owe and continues the dominance of US AI superiority because AI in its current form is not profitable and won’t be for some time
hard assets like bitcoin, gold and commodities will rise commensurately and will be the true and correct indicators of the rate of inflation caused by the above

Looking to get my own node going. I am torn between Umbrel and Start9. I would love to hear your thoughts.
I am curious which of these you would recommend. Or if you have different option for a node I would love to hear them all. I appreciate you all.

First BTC buy: ~$5K DCA over 12 months is the plan. Help me understand where to start.
I’m ready to make my first bitcoin purchase. The plan is to dollar-cost average small amounts over the next year, up to about $5,000 total. I’ve done some initial research, but there are so many options that I’d appreciate input from people who’ve been through this.
Where I’ve landed so far:
- ETFs (IBIT/FBTC): Easiest and lowest effort. But I want to learn self-custody eventually, so I don’t want to rely only on ETFs.
- Kraken vs Coinbase: Kraken looks cheaper if you use Kraken Pro instead of the simple buy button. Coinbase has the stronger brand and regulatory profile though.
- Robinhood: Easy to use and it now allows BTC withdrawals, but crypto feels secondary for them
- River / Strike: Bitcoin-only apps that seem built for recurring buys and easy withdrawals to your own wallet. They’re probably the best fit for learning the wallet side. But credibility? Any other cons that I'm missing?
- Cash App: Very convenient and widely used. It only offers bitcoin, and it supports auto-invest and withdrawals. But I’m not sure how its fees and spreads compare for regular small buys.
Where I’d love input:
- For small recurring buys, which platform has actually worked well for you in terms of fees, withdrawal holds and reliability?
- Does the ETF + real BTC split make sense, or would you just go all-in on owning BTC directly?
- Finally, how to choose among all these platforms?

Question for btc sceptics
Bitcoin sceptics, I would like to hear one solid reason why not to use btc in my case. I want to protect value of my savings, chose btc because it is more liquid than a piece of land, it is maintenance free compared to owning a property and as a bonus I own it, not a bank, not a fund, state cannot take it from me. I also own other types of assets, except gold, but btc is significant part of my portfolio. Now tell me why my strategy is wrong. And if it is not wrong and btc is established as one of the standard components of personal wealth, would it not be the main driver of futures appreciation (considering its limited supply)?
Has anyone saved the "manifesting the next green Bitcoin candle" summoning meme?
Around March 7, 2025, u/seedor posted a 21-second video here called "Me and the boys manifesting the next green Bitcoin candle." It was the Shoebody Bop summoning clip edited for Bitcoin. The post and the video file have since been removed, and the Instagram version is gone too from what I can see.
Did anyone happen to download it? I'm specifically after the Bitcoin edit, not the original Shoebody Bop or the plain green-screen template. Would be grateful if someone could share it or reupload it. 🕯️📈
Original thread was here but it was nuked unfortunately: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1utkie1/deleted_by_user/
Appreciate it if anyone could help me out on this one. :)

BTC Purchasing Question
I apologize I know this question has been asked and answered frequently, but i'm having issues and would greatly appreciate some help.
Over the past week, I have been trying to buy a small amount of Bitcoin ($30–$50 USD) via non KYC and P2P methods. Unfortunately, I’ve run into so many issues. Vendors either ignore the orders I place/aren't even actually online, say they are unavailable, or only sell 100+ dollars worth. I’ve looked at safe P2P platforms with and have had no hope. Should I give up at this point? I don't wanna spend 100 dollars, and I dont wanna pay 50 dollars to buy an ID (I'm still working on my drivers license)
Honestly, i'm just wasting my time at this point, so any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated.

You've begged merchants to take your Bitcoin for over a decade. They used you for a headline.
For fifteen years you've begged merchants to take your bitcoin.
You cheered every press release. WordPress. Expedia. Dell. Tesla. And one by one, they quietly dropped it
They got the headline. You got nothing.
You fought a blocksize war over how to scale bitcoin to eight billion people. You built sidechains and Lightning. You obsessed over fees. I just sent a transaction for less than two cents. Don't trust me. Verify.
Highways for cars that don't exist.
Look at what you're holding.
Fiat: everybody accepts it. Nobody wants it.
Bitcoin: nobody accepts it. Everybody wants it.
Fiat melts in your pocket. Bitcoin doesn't.
You spend fiat. You keep bitcoin.
Everything about bitcoin is the exact opposite of the currencies you know. So why the hell do you still expect it to work like one at the cash register?
It doesn't. It works backwards.
Stop trying to pay with bitcoin. Start getting paid in it.
Give shops the currency they want. That's what they deserve, and that's what currency is for. Then make them give you real money back. Bitcoin.
No bitcoin back? Go next door.
No next door? Build one. One honest café. One honest baker. One honest bar. Until the whole street pays you back.
I'll walk past three cafés to get to the one that gives me bitcoin back, because that's where the other bitcoiners will be. I'll trade a bad coffee for a great conversation.
That's not a discount. That's a community.
And every one of those shops has to buy bitcoin first. Every sale. Every day. Not whales. Not ETFs. A circular economy: merchants buying bitcoin to keep you coming back, and handing it to people who would never have bought it on their own.
Stop asking them to take your bitcoin.
Spend your money where they give you some.
Make them give you some.

Is it now a bad time to start buying bitcoin for the first time?
Is it not worth it this late?
