What were the devs thinking? It is not enjoyable in the slightest to replay every single wave over and over if you fail or get screwed over in a later wave which you need a blue ribbon in. Just pure tedium for no reason at all, wasting my time.

I have a bad feeling the game will be very "safe", it won't try anything new or interesting, it will feel like other shooter games and won't feel like Bioshock.

A while back they cleaned out about one third of the studio, then Rod Fergusson of Diablo took over (no chance in hell he has any idea how a game like this should be), then the Take-Two CEO said they wasted time and money chasing creative directions that didn't work and now he feels better about the direction and coming from a businessman that doesn't sound good...

I feel like it's just been taken over by suits. This game is not going to be very interesting at all I fear.
I think it's going to end up like most games now, trying to appeal to the widest possible audience, making it resemble other successful shooter games over Bioshock's identity and watering down the story to just be another good vs evil with no nuance or interesting gray bits at all.

Never played Bioshock before, I have a vague idea about some sort of "Would You Kindly" plot twist, and that's it. So I bought the collection, and it gave me the OG BioShock games as well as the remasters. So which ones are better? Especially for someone who probably will only replay the games once or twice at max.

First, I would avoid using Incinerate, Electro Bolt and Winter Blast since they are the most straightforward and usual plasmids. My tonic selection would be:

Drill Specialist: cuts the EVE cost of plasmids in half and makes it so you can only use the Drill, research camera and hacking tool.

Armored Shell 1 and 2, Sports Boost, since I will be in melee range most of the time.

Booze Hound, Elemental Sponge, Eve Saver 1 and 2, Fountain of Youth, Drill Vampire to have as much EVE available as possible

Damage Research, Drill Lurker, Drill Power 1 and 2, Freezing Drill to squeeze every last point of damage from the Drill.

Scrounger, Arms Race, Thrifty Hacker and Vending Expert 1 and 2 for getting Drill fuel, since it and EVE will be the only two ammo types I will actually be able to use.

Walking Inferno, Electric Flesh, Electrical Storm, Fire Storm, Ice Storm, Elemental Storm. The Storm tonics all work by causing a fire, electric or freezing discharge around you after you get hit by a melee attack. My question would be if these stack for multiple AoE effects at the same time or only one activates. If so, it feels like electric would be the same to combo with a drill and Fire would be good for dps. As for Ice Storm, and this also applies to Freezing Drill, shattering a frozen enemy makes it so the loot is lost, unless frozen by a charged Winter Blast 2 or regular WB 3. So, if you upgrade Incinerate, Winter Blast and Electro Bolt, do these effects transfer to the Storm tonics? Even if the plasmids are not equipped? Thank you.

I saw some videos that tell that bioshock 1 is better than the other two but for me all of them are beautiful. Loved playing bio 2 ‘cause you play as a fucking big daddy and try to save your daughter. Bio Infinite was my first ever bioshock and loved it, cmon its beautiful from the city of columbia to the ending w that plot twist. Bio 1 started some time ago and i need to finish is but i know that is good from what i seen so far but man, saying that the other two are “trash” its crazy imo. For me they are all great but my favorite will be the infinite. Lmk your opinion. Have a nice day.

In his most recent video on Bioshock 2, MandaloreGaming recommends Bioshock 2 Audio Balance Fix and provides a link* in a pinned comment.

The problem is that this page hosts two versions, and each version contains two identically named files (in each version one of these files is in a folder titled "Minerva"), neither version contains a readme, and the linked page doesn't provide instructions or even acknowledge the two versions or the two files per version.

Does anyone know which version we should be using, and where we should be putting one or both files?

Not much to explain. I recently finished the game for the first time and Fontaine disappointed me. I barely managed to get through the game, and Fontaine was somewhat anticlimactic. I think it was because I had the plasmids that reduce damage from electric, fire, and ice. But honestly... I don't know.

Science fiction is only fiction until it isn't. Science fiction creates the inspiration, the spark for what CAN POSSIBLY BE, and it inspires kids and young adults that are exposed to it to wonder "Hey, maybe I can make this for real? Could I? How??"

And then, they make it happen. Living proof below. I'm 46 years old right now, and mark my words, we WILL have people re-writing their genetic code within my lifetime!

i have recently watched Mandalore's review of Bioshock 2, and the last time i played that game was about... well when it released.
so i have very, very little memories about it, and he gave a nice enough review that it made me want to play it again.

thing is, i know it has a lot of bugs, issues, and some things could be upgraded.

i'm used to PC gaming, so i know quite a lot of retro/classic games have quite a lot of mods made by their community.
HD texture packs, visual fixes, audio fixes, res fixes, UI fixes, performances improvements, bug community patches, ect.
(i believe Bioshock is old enough to be called retro, even if it hurts)

are they a thing for Bioshock 2, the OG, the remaster, or would you just advise to play the remaster?
i'm seeing somes fixes on Nexus for the Remastered version.

if yes, is there like, a guide to add thoses mods in, i would like to re-experience Bioshock 2, but with the best experience possible.

A project I have been working on to port BioShock to Linux ARM devices with 1GB of RAM, primarily used for emulating retro games. Their official term is retro doodads.

It uses the (abandoned) ios port from 2014 that didn't deserve to die that fast.

Hope this is allowed here, AI has been used in early development of this port but shortly after I have been deliberately avoiding it in my personal projects because I simply stopped caring about the things "I" created when using it. Please delete this post mods if it's still violates rule 6.

Project is made in Zig and is essentially a mach-o loader with a lot of game specific optimizations, controller support, ui scaling, optimized memory management, render path improvements, and tons of other things to make it run on something it was never meant to run on. Not as "plug-and-play" as touchHLE, but ideally I'll abstract this into a separate project once this is done to make it easier to port more ios games to these devices

As title suggests, I've been playing the remastered trilogy. Only on the first game, made the fatal mistake of repeatedly using the same save file and it crashed during saving which, having now read much older posts about this exact phenomenon, I'm just taking the baton off them and holding on to it for the next folks that stumble across here.

Save often, but more importantly, save in multiple slots. Others have outlined which versions are least buggy and whatnot, I'm no expert on the topic just a word of caution is all. I've only lost a level, some have reported being thrown back even more than that.

im surprised it took me this long! ive loved bioshock for well over a decade, id watch my dad play it when i was a kid, and id see tons of splicers at conventions. i knew there was different endings so i saved the girls, which wasnt as punishing as i thought. i saw advice that said new players should harvest for more power, but tbh i only used the fire and electricity, so i wasnt starving for adam to get new plasmid slots

I loved how Jack and the Little Sisters can relate to being experiments used for someone elses gain, and how the canonical ending is rescuing them. the first time you encounter one, Atlas insists that you harvest, so its the first time you can really disobey him. Atlas preys on his humanity by inventing a fake wife and kid, but its that same humanity that is his downfall.

i love that Jack and the Little Sister's have eachother topside, very beautiful found family trope. i do feel bad that the big daddies have no purpose now. they'll just be wandering around and banging on the pipes, waiting for nothing.

im very excited to play the second one and get the full mr bubbles experience
