Bead Talk How to tell the difference between real beadwork and AI

Thumbnail bekihaley.blogspot.com

I have stumbled upon this blog post by Beki Haley where she gives really good advice on how to tell if the beadwork you see online is real or AI-generated.

There have been a lot of posts on this sub about people being scammed with AI patterns, so I figured sharing her post could help people save some money.

Recent influx of scam accounts posting other people’s work!

It has happened a handful of times recently, so I’ve set up a filter that should catch new accounts to cut down on that.

Having said that, if you are a legit new beader and the filter has caught your post, feel free to reach out to the mod team so we can approve your post!

And thank you to the community for catching these posts and reporting them! I may recognize a few really popular pieces, but not many, and I imagine the other mods are probably the same, so it’s very helpful to have other people reporting them to us!

Double-sided ghost star — Art by my dear friend, pattern translation, bead color selection, and beading by me. He/she/they needs a name :D

I love 3D peyote, and I love cute characters. I also want to support artists in the beading space who can provide me with such cuteness. I paid my friend (who I'm not mentioning without her permission) for license to use this to create a beading pattern. I'd love to name the ghost :D. Any suggestions?

These are my 2 latest pieces! I genuinely love the pop of colour and how they look. Will try to get a better shot in the sun tomorrow.
My last few pieces I’ve under sold my work and time. Only because I know it won’t go at a higher price at the markets. I should do online but don’t make enough stock to have an online store front. I do well at markets because of my personality and how engaging I can be but finding the right person willing to spend more than $50 on earrings this day and age is hard.

The purple ones took me about 3-4 hours and the multi coloured was about 2-3 hours. These are Miyuki beads and the multi coloured ones are faceted. They will look great in the sun

More than a hobby?

At what point do you admit to yourself that this is more than a hobby? Asking for a friend 😆

People keep telling me I should commercialize my stuff, but I'm not sure when that actually starts to make sense. What do people think out there?

Need Help! String storage

Hi, I have various lengths of clear nylon stringing that are ruining my life.

I cut off lengths to make jewellery, but as soon as I look away from the pile it seems to tangle up around anything in a 50m radius.

I have tried wrapping some of it around my hand into a little bundle but that makes the string all kinky.

I am begging anyone to give me storage ideas.

I don’t know why I bought so much string

Need Help! What would I call these beads?

What would I search for to find beads cut like this? It’s like they made gemstones but then top drilled them. Nothing I search for gives me these exact beads. Just teardrop briolettes and top drill Freeform beads. Any help as to the actual verbiage or places that have them would be so appreciated!!

I made Billy The Kid from ZZZ with Miyuki Beads (the reference is 3rd photo)

As a 2D pixel artist, I’ve always wanted to find a way to bring pixel art into real life. Billy is my favorite character in ZZZ, so I figured he’d be the perfect for my very first IRL project!

I decided to try Miyuki bead weaving for the first time to make this.

Since these beads are tiny and perfectly uniform, they literally act like physical pixels on a grid.

Its currently %95 done, I'm thinking what to do with the excess threads, hope you like it <3

Small note: I drew the pattern myself in Aseprite.

Need Help! Pattern for bird feet?

Post image
40 Upvotes

Hey! I’ve made this puffin piece from a pattern from Carol Paris/bumblebead on Etsy! But she uses a oetal shaped bead i do not know how to source and so i wanted to make one out of my 11/0 TOHO treasure beads (as thats what i used for the piece)! Are anyone here knowledgeable enough to make up a pattern for a simple foot, ca 1,3 cm x1 cm? Or just how to build up a triangle shape with brick or peyote stitch :) thank you!!!

Pictures is also the foot i tried making but i don’t like it and i 100% can recreate it!

I am making this purse, attached is my inspo for the design. I have since removed the light blue and dark blue lines below the bulge beads. I disliked the contrast and did not want to continue wasting time. Please any suggestions for color, links to specific products ... Everything would be helpful! I do like the idea of swapping to round beads for the remainder of the "ocean". I am very loosely following the inspo pic, clearly 😂
