Ice skating
I just moved here as a fresher and was wondering in November/December time is there a good ice skating rink that is accessible via buses?

Hi guys, I have an old HP printer that doesn’t work anymore and a cheap vinyl player that kind of "burned" from the inside and no longer works and is unsafe to use. I’m planning to take both to the bath recycling center in Midland Road but I have no car nor bike so my only option is on foot. Does anyone know if it's pedestrian friendly and it's allowed? Quick google search told me I can’t enter on foot but I don't know how accurate that is so I don’t know what’s my alternative... many thanks

i turned 30 recently and for some reason I thought bringing a group of 9 30 year old men to centre parcs was a good idea. At the time it seems good. now? why the fuck did I do this.
I was stupid to think this. its all families and kids. I thought it would be nostalgic and there’d be stuff for adults too but it’s mainly just kids.
I can’t find anything fun to do. I can’t think of much to do. we’re all bored. and I feel embarrassed.
literally even the park ranger people are laughing at me for choosing this
it was a stupid idea and I don’t know how to make the best of this anymore

If anyone can help, there's an injured pigeon on the pavement of Pierrepont Street overlooking Parade Gardens. It was alive when I saw it but seems unable to walk or fly.

I've been craving quality chicken wings in Bath (I'll take recommendations) for a while now.
But does anybody know when and where Wingstop will be popping up? The advert doesn't give it away

Doubt this will do any good given there's already been a consultation with overwhelmingly negative opinion, which the council ignored, but maybe worth the few seconds it'll take to sign

I did email the local liberal democrats about this too and never got a reply. They've lost my vote for the foreseeable.

Screening of Whip It (2009) with panel and bonus roller disco! - Sat 17th October
🛼🎬🍿
As part of Bath Film Festival, Bath Roller Derby are collaborating on a screening of the film Whip It at Bath Pavilion. We will be discussing the film, what the sport of roller derby is like today and how you can get involved!
Roller derby is a full contact sport played on quad roller skates, by primarily people of marginalised genders (women and trans people) - it is like rugby on roller skates (there is no ball)!
If you feel inspired by the film, you can also put on some skates and be your own hero at the roller disco afterwards!
Tickets from £7: https://www.bathboxoffice.org.uk/whats-on/rebel-moves-whip-it-nctw
Drew Barrymore's exhilarating coming-of-age comedy starring Elliot Page as Bliss Cavendar, a teenager who swaps beauty pageants for roller derby and discovers a world where strength, individuality and rebellion are celebrated. Funny, fearless and packed with energy, Whip It! has become a cult favourite for good reason.

As far as I'm aware, I've got a somewhat unusual rat problem in my home.
I don't think the rats are actually IN my house, as in nesting, but as far as I can tell there's a place somewhere in my house that they can get in and out, and they use this to come into the home and leave.
I've put down traps to no effect because as far as I can tell they're not IN the house right now, but occasionally they come in here and then leave again?
Can anyone recommend a pest control service that would specifically be able to find where they're entering and leaving and seal it up, but nothing else? I tried asking one service in the week but they wanted to charge me £400 for four sessions, and as far as I can tell there's only one actual task that needs doing that SHOULD fix the problem for me.

Folks from Swindon and Chippenham, and to a lesser extent Trowbridge, Calne and Salisbury do day sessions to bath and then catch the last train back home. Do the Bath residents know about this?
Can you tell when the Wiltshire lot are out day drinking or do you throw them in with the rest of the tourists drinking? Or do you not notice or care at all?

Does anyone know of any beginner-friendly board game groups that my partner and I could join? We're based slightly outside of the city but would happily travel in.
We’ve recently really got into playing Catan and other board games, and we’d love to meet some like-minded people who enjoy a fun, relaxed evening of games!
We’re still fairly new to it all, so somewhere welcoming to beginners would be ideal.

Hi, my girlfriend and I are coming to England and will be spending her birthday in Bath. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to spend this special day in your town. We’ll be there in a week.
I would be very grateful.

Hello everyone!
I’m currently in the process of moving from the US to Bath this upcoming January, and I’m hoping to find a doggy daycare for my boy Webley!
Webley is a 4-year-old German Shepherd, Husky, and Schnauzer mix. He was originally a very social dog who loved being around other dogs, but shortly after being neutered, he began developing reactivity. Over the past two years, I’ve worked incredibly hard to help him rebuild his confidence and learn to trust other dogs again.
He’s been through professional training, is fully muzzle-trained, has great obedience, and is currently on fluoxetine (Prozac) to help with his reactivity.
One of the biggest things that has helped him is his current doggy daycare! His daycare doesn’t just throw him into a large group of dogs. Instead, they carefully assessed his behavior and introduced him to a small group of dogs whose personalities and play styles are compatible with his. He now regularly attends daycare and genuinely enjoys being around his doggy friends!
It’s been amazing watching him become more confident and comfortable around other dogs again. He’s made so much progress, and I really don’t want him to lose that when we move.
To be completely transparent, Webley is still dog-selective. He generally does well around other dogs, but he can become uncomfortable when overly excited dogs rush into his personal space or when play becomes too intense. He does best with dogs that respect boundaries and with handlers who understand canine body language and can intervene before situations escalate.
I’m not looking for a daycare that will simply put him in a room with 20 other dogs. I’m hoping to find somewhere that offers structured socialization, carefully matched playgroups, experienced handlers, and ideally experience working with reactive or dog-selective dogs.
I’m more than happy to arrange assessments, trial sessions, or even private training before introducing him to a group. His safety and the safety of other dogs will always be my priority.
Webley has come such a long way, and seeing him enjoy being a dog again has honestly meant the world to me. I would love to continue building on that progress rather than starting over.
Does an anyone know of any daycares or structured socialization programs in Bath that might be a good fit?
I’d really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences! Thank you!!

Does anyone have experience using FlixBus to travel to and from Heathrow Airport? I usually take the National Express although it is significantly more expensive than FlixBus. It would be an early morning trip (~5-6am). I’ve read some bad reviews on FlixBus reliability (bus late, bus not showing up) but I’m not sure if it’s relevant to FlixBus in Bath.

Hey everyone! Thanks to the mods for letting me post.
I’m taking part in Ultra White Collar Boxing on November 14th, an event bringing together first-time fighters from Bristol, Bath, Wales, and the surrounding areas for a night of boxing and MMA.
I’ve never boxed before, so this has been a completely new challenge! We’re taking part in an eight-week training program, and fighters are raising money for charities, including Cancer Research UK & Mental Health Foundation.
I’ve hit my fundraising target, but I still need to sell tickets to cover my insurance and secure my place in the program. My deadline is tonight, so I’m making one last push to get enough tickets sold.
I’ve already put three weeks of training into this and would really love to see it through!
Tickets are £38, and if you fancy a night of fights while supporting the participants and their causes, I’d be very grateful.
Tickets: https://tickitup.co/uk/events/uwcb-bristol-14-11-2026/
There will be future events too, so if you’ve ever been curious about trying something like this yourself, keep an eye out for the next one.
Thanks for reading- even sharing the post would help!

The back garden windows are only accessible by walking through the house which makes it a bit trickier, wondering if anyone can recommend a reliable local company

I’m soon to start renovating our new (to us) house in Lansdown (BA1) which I know is a conservation area (the house isn’t listed). Anyone know how strict the planning team is with roof lights, please? The house has one already but probably needs three (two extra). Thanks for any insights.
