Baking fail 💔 Did I save my disaster
Friends coming for a birthday dinner. Just as I finished the cake, the power went out. Then she slid. Pivoted to trifle.

I have been designated family cake baker for 20 years but earlier this year, decided I wanted to bake more regularly and learn to pipe. A colleague asked me to make cupcake flowers for her mum’s birthday and this is what I came up with. I’m so happy with how it turned out ☺️I achieved the flowers using 1m, 2d and 190 tips and easy techniques and the other bits with fondant and stamps 💐

Kneading was super hard since I had to do it by hand and I was so sure I added too much flour.. my braid is also erhm.. questionable. I just could not understand how to do it and ended up free styling it.
HOWEVER! It does taste amazing and I am so happy! My first enriched bread!

Yes, I like strawberry flavor lol. I forgot to buy powdered sugar (and it was past midnight so I couldn’t go to the grocery store) so I spent a really long time crushing granulated sugar (and the freeze dried strawberries for the icing) with a mortar and pestle… it took hours. I gave up part way through so the icing ended up only slightly gritty. I don’t have the right food processors unfortunately, only mortar and pestle 😭

I did it! My first buttercream cake. Although the first batch of buttercream split because that butter was too warm. But then i saw Preppy Kitchen chocolate buttercream video and this is the result. Very delicious 8/10. Should use perfectly powdered sugar next time 👌

I've decided to photograph everything I bake, and this shokupan is where it starts. It's not perfect, but the crumb is soft and fine and the crust is thin and golden.

My first time making a roll … it is so spongy and delicious … just in time for fall 🍂🍁

I’ve been super intimidated by the idea of a roll cake for years, and finally decided to try it for myself. It was far easier than I was anticipating and I’ll definitely be trying other roll cake flavors in the future!
Next time I’ll definitely try to keep the initial roll (in the center) a little looser but overall I’m very happy with the outcome for a first try!
I used Sally’s Pumpkin Roll recipe as is!

starting to test out recipes for holiday cookie boxes. First up mini gingerbread oatmeal sandwhich cookies.
I wasent to sure about them as they were thin but they came out super soft and chewy, so good. I used buttercream for the middle

The only difference I made was the filling/dough
I made blueberry sugar and mixed it with butter, blueberry syrup, and a bit of flour for the filling instead of a traditional brown sugar/cinnamon. I also used the blueberry sugar instead of regular sugar for the dough🙏🏽
If you want the recipe, it’s on the previous cinnamon roll post😸
