First time user of a transport company. I bought a car online mid October that was 1875 miles away. Check map!
Pro Tip #2: factor the transport price into the cost of your dream car!
Closed the deal and elected not to go with the dealer’s xport recommendation (it was high), then read some reviews/ratings from Forbes, and blundered forward with a signed contract to do the deed with a big box (think callcenter) co.
It wasn’t even an hour later when I started reading horrible reviews of the Forbes “recommended” company. Luckily I was able to cancel the next morning without a big hit. Whew!
Enter Shawn from Vice Auto Transport!
Found out about him on Reddit . This fella answers his own phone, responds to text messages (like a teenager with a new phone) and beat the original quote by $500.
Vice does not run their own trucks in the NW, and Shawn never tried to tell me he wasn’t a broker. He put together a plan, price and delivery time I could live with.
Again, super responsive (and yes he takes his fee upfront) and yes it’s leap of faith trusting a stranger to trust another stranger with an expensive car, but I’m the guy who started this ball rolling.
Final comment …. Shawn made me feel like he valued my business with some laughs along the way! Car came 1 day ahead of schedule. Good dude🙏
Think I’ll send him a text right now 😂

Hey everyone!
I’m relocating from Aurora, Colorado to Saraland, Alabama for work and looking to ship my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
I’m hoping to arrange pickup sometime next week, with delivery around October 30th or shortly afterward. I’m flexible on delivery dates.
I also have about 2–3 boxes of personal belongings (mostly clothes and miscellaneous household items) that I’d like to leave in the back of the vehicle, if permitted.
Open transport is perfectly fine.
Looking for recommendations or quotes from reputable companies. I’d appreciate any advice!
Thanks!

Hey all - I posted in this group few weeks ago asking for a quote to ship my vehicle from PA to FL.
As many of you know this process isn’t very fun, hard to find an honest broker and worst of all brokers who quote one thing then add “hidden fees”.
From Day 1 when Philip DMed me on reddit, we had a straightforward convo the entire way. Provided an all-in quote which was fair compared to market. Confirmed pick up and delivery dates and day before pick up sent me all driver info.
Hopefully Philip sees this post and can post his number and contact info.
I shipped a 2021 BMW 528 and was delivered within 3 days.
His reddit username is - educationalwelder27

Needing a quote to get a small SUV from Ohio to Missouri. I’ve gotten several quotes and the quotes seem to be all over the place. Realistically, what would the price be to ship a small SUV 600miles? I know diesel is expensive but an agreeable price and extortion are two different things.
Thank you!

I'm in the process of buying a car from a dealership in Oregon and will need it shipped to New Jersey once the paperwork is complete. I've reached out for a handful of quotes and am currently being buried in texts and emails from various brokers, some of whom I reached out to directly, others I've never heard of.
Obviously, the unsolicited offers to ship my car today for $1,000 can be rejected out of hand. A few folks have come back with $2,400+ quotes, but that seems to be well above market.
That leaves me with half a dozen or so of what seem to be reputable quotes from the bigger names and the folks who get talked up here, in the $1,700-$2,100 range.
My biggest priorities are:
1) having a truck assigned and the car picked up on a predictable schedule
2) communication once the car is picked up
3) no funny business (changing rates, promising physically impossible timeframes, extra due on delivery, etc)
My only prior car shipping experience was this past summer we bought another car from a dealer in California, and the dealer arranged shipping through Montway. The car arrived without issue, but it took Montway more than a week past their promised pickup date to find a truck, their communication was non-existent throughout, and when I was able to get my rep on the phone he kept deferring to an assistant who kept making unrealistic promises around pickup, drop-off, and progress. Their promised 4-5 day delivery (which, again, seemed unrealistic to me at the time) ended up taking over three weeks, and never once did they follow up when they said they would or proactively volunteer information.
I realize it's a very long haul and other than wanting to get the car off the dealer lot on a timely (but not necessarily urgent) basis, it'll get here when it gets here. How do I pick a winner from similar quotes? I see advice to compare the actual carrier and equipment and validate licenses and insurance, but no one at the quote stage offers any information at that level given no carrier is yet assigned.

I purchased a car at an online auction and working out how to transport it from PA to CA. Bring a Trailer (auction site) quoted about $2300 and uses RunBuggy to fulfill the service. It's a lot of money and I've seen mixed reviews on RunBuggy so I'm hesitant.
The seller connected me with a broker that said if I want to work with him a more realistic price is $2400-2500 working directly with him walking me through the whole process, and guaranteed to find a high quality transporter. He also recommended not getting online quotes because the companies will share my information with every broker in the country.
Any advice? Could I get a better price somewhere else?
*Open to quotes but that wasn't the main goal of this most.
