Looking for Medical Clinics

Hi all! I’m looking to connect with owners or operators of small medical clinics in the Houston area who may be hiring or need additional help soon. If anyone knows someone I could reach out to, I’d really appreciate it! I’m happy to share more about myself and my background through PM. Thank you!

Night Club/Bar

Hello, I am in Houston for a weekend. I wanted to know the best bar or club to listen to good songs and dance the night away (like really party). I don't have a specific genre of music in mind, just have to be dance-able or club music. Thank you!!

Looking for small commercial office or retail space (150-400 sf)

Hi! I am looking to expand my event stationery business into the Houston area, where I am originally from. I'm looking for a small retail or office space so that I can meet clients. I'm even fine with 150 square feet.

I know they exist but every broker I connect with says $1,000 a month is the cheapest office available. Any ideas? I've looked on Loopnet, asked ChatGPT etc.

I'm not interested in a coworking space, as I would like to have a private office that I can access regularly and keep all of our products in the office.

I welcome all recommendations! Thank you!!

When is enough, actually enough?

Hey everyone! I'm 35F, and I have a genuine question I would like noth men and women opinions. At what point do you get tired of asking your partner for the same things?

I've been in a long-term relationship, and I find myself repeatedly asking for things I consider basic partnership: acts of service, occasional thoughtful gestures, quality time, affection, attention, and communication.

Personally, I believe that when someone genuinely wants to be with you, their actions should eventually reflect what you've communicated. Occasional reminders are understandable, but repeating the same requests year after year feels more like begging than communicating.

It makes me wonder how many relationships and marriages end, not because love wasn't there, but because one person became exhausted from asking for the same things without seeing consistent change.

So my questions are:

*When does patience turn into settling?

*How many times should you have to ask before accepting that your partner may never change?

* Is it unrealistic to expect your partner to meet your needs without constant reminders?

*At what point do you stop explaining what you need and start questioning why you're still asking?

Looking for an adopter!

If I'm asking Houston it's a question, it's: Do you know where Thatcher's person is?

We know this guy. I can answer all of your questions and would LOVE to do so if it means finding this guy his forever homie. He's been enrolled with Friends For Life for 5 months and he's itching to be labeled ADOPTED.

Technically now considered a senior boy, Thatcher is for an experienced dog owner. He's sensitive to the world and communicates wonderfully. As his dog walking team for years, we can teach you all of the ins and outs of his personality. But really? He just wants a cuddle puddle and road trips and adventure. With his person.

Here's his adoption profile: https://friends4life.org/adoptable-pets/thatcher/

Please share if you know someone looking!

Urgent: Baloo has rescue interest! Needs a committed foster to save his life. He remains on BARC Houston's euth list for today due to time and space.

UPDATE: He's safe with Save Some Souls rescue!

🚨 URGENT: BALOO | BARC Houston | EUTH TODAY 10/22 🚨
UPDATE: EXTENDED to Thursday 10/22 @ 1 PM. Needs a HOLD by 1 PM or he loses his life. No further extensions per BARC. 🎥

Baloo had a foster, another volunteer has been in contact with them, and their post was reported by someone on nextdoor that consistently reports animal posts and they cannot message them. This is a serious issue with being able to reach local fosters and adopters.

🩵🐾 Baloo #A2101779
Stray | American Bulldog Mix | Male | 6Y | 79 lbs | HW Low Positive | Vaccinated

Baloo is a big, strong, happy-to-see-you boy who has been waiting since 10/12. When staff walk up to his kennel, his tail goes into a fast wag. Outside, he hops around and runs the fence line with his neighbors, and he sniffs passing dogs with a loose, swaying tail. He holds a neutral, relaxed body when petted, and the wound he arrived with is healing.

He came in with Eevee and her puppies. That family group was tagged by a rescue last week, and Baloo still needs his own commitment.

He is dog friendly, but has a lot of power on leash and needs a little work. He will do best with an experienced or patient adult handler, a sturdy harness.

Medical: Heartworm low positive, so he will need treatment. He arrived with a wound on his left thigh, noted as healing on 10/12. Vaccinated, dewormed, and on flea prevention.

We need:
🙏 A local foster or adopter, two rescues are interested! Please reach out if you can help.

How to help:

  1. Send your hold or foster request to BARC in writing, using his seven-digit ID (2101779). Do not call. Please only call if it's late in the day and you want to meet him but, they may extend him with interest.
  2. Share amongst Houston friends/family/coworkers, and groups.

13 dogs are still at risk today if Baloo isn't the perfect match. You can check them out here.

Six years old, strong, goofy, and still wagging after weeks behind bars. Please don’t let Baloo run out of time.

Local and interested in fostering or adopting? Email all three, using ID 2101779:

most likely relocating to houston...any single young adults who can tell me how they like it?

got an amazing opportunity in harris county after grad school that i kinda can't turn down (97k, benefits, i'm single, lol...). i really wanted a job in my hometown (ATL) to work out, but unfortunately it didn't. i would have to wait until next year to even begin the interview process, and it just seems silly turning down a firm offer for a potential opportunity. i always told myself that if i couldn't live in atl, i would go to houston. i know they're entirely different cities, but i feel like it's a big enough city where i can enjoy the nightlife, but also have my car and be in the suburbs.

only thing is, now that relocating is more of reality, i'm getting a little scared. i don't even know where to live in houston, and i don't know many people. i've been doing my research and see montrose and the loop are pretty popular. anyone have any recommendations or tips? has anyone moved to the city alone? how was it adapting and what generally can i expect/look out for?

Moving to Houston

What are the best parts of Houston/surrounding towns are safe for a 31-year-old woman to live?

I plan on nailing down a job first, do a monthly Airbnb, and then find an apartment that is close to my job so I don't have to fight the traffic daily.

How do we get police in the region to actually police?

So yesterday I was sitting at a red light for about 30 seconds when a car driven by a younger man careens into my rear bumper and a decent clip. I was annoyed but not angry, took out my phone and recorded everything.

Guy admits to dropping his phone and instead of stopping and then looking for it decides to keep driving while ducking down. He admits this on camera. We pull over in a nearby parking lot and assess damage and trade details.

He is slightly reluctant to go to the police but I told him we can either wait for the cops or go to them. Sugar Land Police Department was a few minutes up the road so we went there.

The officer didn’t bother really asking questions. I let him know the younger driver was distracted, admitted to it, and seemed to demonstrate little remorse. The car he was driving appeared to have been involved in a recent accident already. The officer didn’t seem to care, when asked if I could show the video, didn’t want to watch it.

Whole thing seems lacking. I moved here from Canada and officers tend to at the very least ticket drivers when they admit to speeding or distracted driving…

2026 Allergy Season

Hi! Is anyone else experiencing insane allergy issues this season?

Background: I’m a native Texan but originally from the DFW area. Moved to Houston 2 years ago but no stranger to the area as I’ve had family here my whole life.

I’ve been battling sinus and respiratory issues since mid August. I’ve had sinus infections before and have mild to moderate seasonal allergies yearly. I knew moving to Houston would make my allergies slightly worse compared to the concrete jungle that is DFW. But holy shit, this fall season has been horrible. I’ve had 2 sinus infections since August and can feel another one coming on. I’ve had a lingering cough and drainage since then as well. I’ve been to the dr and have another appointment tomorrow so not really looking for advice just want to see if anyone else is experiencing something similar this year? It’s beyond irritating, lowkey getting pissed off about it lol

Why is METRO actively sabotaging the Westpark Lower Uptown Transit Center (and the Silver Line BRT)

I’ve been looking closely at how METRO routes buses in Southwest Houston, and the logistics make absolutely no sense. It feels like they are deliberately setting their own multi-million dollar infrastructure up to fail.

Look at the Westpark / Lower Uptown Transit Center (right by Sage and 59). It’s a massive, multi-level facility with a dedicated third-floor flyover built specifically to connect to the US-59 HOV lanes. It is also within easy walking distance to the Rice Ave Walmart Supercenter, which is a massive deal for transit-dependent people who need access to actual groceries and food security.

Yet, METRO’s routing actively avoids it:

- The 151, 152, and 153 Expresses zoom right past it on the flyover without stopping.

- The 9 (Gulfton) passes within half a mile but fails to serve it.

Instead, METRO forces all those express lines (151-153) to dump out at the Hillcroft Transit Center, which is a hostile, concrete, auto-centric island trapped near a highway interchange with zero walkable retail or food options nearby.

Because of this, the only way to get to Downtown from Westpark Lower Uptown is the Route 20 local, which takes much longer and defeats the purpose of rapid transit that reduces cars on the freeway.

This completely explains why everyone points fingers at the METRORapid Silver Line BRT for being a "failed ghost train." The Silver Line is struggling because METRO refuses to feed any regional riders into it! If the 9, 151, 152, and 153 actually stopped at Westpark Lower Uptown, Southwest and Gulfton riders would have an instant, one-transfer connection to the Silver Line to shoot straight up to the Galleria or the Northwest Transit Center (NWTC) without having to backtrack downtown.

When major, high-frequency bus lines are forced to actively avoid an obvious, built-out transfer hub, it makes me conspiracy-minded. Is METRO leadership intentionally sabotaging the Silver Line and this transit center just to justify killing future BRT and rapid transit expansion in Houston?

What is the operational logic here? Am I missing something, or is this just pure bureaucratic incompetence?

Looking for friends with similar interests

I want to find people who are against the meat eating world, who are vegans, and passionate about bashing animal agriculture or animal abuse. I want to find people who are truely loving animals and volunteer at shelters together.

The area in houston where I live is pretty far Houston SPCA or santuary farms, that is why I want some people to go with and share transportations.
I have volunteered with Special Pals (25 mins away) but they only handle dogs and cats. I desire to see farm animals as well.

Please send me a message or comment. Many thanks.

Indian couple (30s) in Houston looking to connect and make new friends!

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

My husband and I moved to Houston from Boston, and making friends here has honestly been way harder than we expected. In Boston it felt easier to run into people, but Houston is so spread out that it's tough to meet anyone outside of work.

We are both pretty friendly and easy to talk to.
We love hiking, movies, trying new restaurants and food spots, watching sports, and exploring the city. We are always up for a weekend hike, dinner, a movie, game nights, catching a game, or checking out a new place.

We would love to meet people around our age, late 20s to early 30s. If you are in a similar situation or just looking to meet new people, feel free to comment or DM.

Also if you know any good groups or meetups where it's easy to make friends here (especially other Indian folks) we would really appreciate the suggestions.
Thanks! 😊
