Its strange cause you didnt even give her a way in or thank her, or check if shes available to help you 😭

or even overtly ask “can you go and check on my oven”. just explained their whole entire day.

OP, i have a lot of anxiety around texting & making sure my messages sound okay & you read like me when i am overthinking things (both in your message, and in over-reading into your neighbors reply). my advice is to only include necessary details & be short & concise. “hey neighbor, I’m worried I may have forgotten to turn my oven off. Can you check on it for me?” is a way better message

This is the best advice on this post!

Any tips for getting over that anxiety? I have over 1,000 unread messages and lost countless friendships. I wish texting didn’t make me so anxious.

You know how you are sending messages on reddit? It's like that except only 1 person can see it not the whole world. Just do the same thing. You read and replied to that message just fine. Texts are no different.

Yeah, exactly, no please and thank you either, and no apology for wrongly assuming the neighbour had the key/code.

I hate these threads where everyone is invested but OP doesn’t reply because they know they are in the wrong.
