It's strange to ask people that you been living next to but never saw fit to have a conversation with, for a favor.

I agree. Not that it matters but if you're gonna ask a neighborly favor such as this, you have to have done more than hi and bye your neighbor. lol

Exactly. We don't get to collect dividends on investments that we've never made.

Befriending the neighbor would've been making an investment. Being able to ask a friend for a favor is a normal dividend, only if they're your friend.

They have the neighbour’s phone number, so they just have had some conversation along the lines of “hi here’s my number in case you ever need to contact me in an emergency”

It’s not that I don’t want to have a conversation with her lol We just haven’t ever both been standing in our driveways long enough at the same time to stop and chat 😂

Wait so this neighbor is not a friend or even someone who has been inside your residence before but someone you've never had a proper conversation with? Then yeah that's a really strange request

Not so much that you have something against her. But you just never saw fit to even have a conversation. Let alone foster a relationship that involves entering your house unsupervised. It really is just weird.

It is a bit odd, but as someone who frets over this some time - I get it. And hell, ya maybe opened that door all the way now (in a good way!)
