Staying in your comfort zone is slow death. You're growing, or you're dieing. Take that scary job, try that new hobby, tell that lady at the Thai joint down the street that you want level 5 spice.
I hate it when I spontaneously change colour due to complacency.
With all seriousness, people underestimate their own resilience. Pushing your comfort zone makes you realize you can handle more than you think and gives you the energy and confidence to do more without feeling exhausted. It's sitting still and wallowing in your own self-pity that keeps you stuck in the same place. If you think you can't because you don't have the energy or the tenacity, that's exactly what's keeping you where you are; tired and exhausted.
I had fun replying to it! I didn't even notice until one of the other comments mentioned it. Thank you for sticking to your guns and keeping the unedited post up.
Thank you, this spoke to me deeply. I am moving several states away to pursue a job that would be challenging, but has a much higher ceiling than the one I have right now. I question myself whether I’m flying too close to the sun, but I’m glad someone’s out there believes that change can be scary.
