Graduate School Apply for LOA to study a different program from a different university

Hello! For context, I am a part time graduate student currently doing my thesis. I expect to graduate next school year since I am doing this part time but I am still taking my chances on finishing writing my thesis this school year.

I belong to the batch of graduate students with a requirement to publish in a Scopus-indexed journal. Unfortunately, getting accepted is not enough to apply for graduation.

Recently, I have been planning on doing law school as well after graduating. I am considering on applying for this school year. I just want to open myself to other job opportunities. I will only be supporting myself through law school so ALS is out of the question since I read their program is full time.

Given that, I am wondering, if I do finish my thesis this school year and I just need to wait for my publication requirement, is it possible to apply for LOA so that I can proceed with law school? I am also planning on discussing this with my thesis adviser.

Thank you!

College life Lonely Freshie?

Just want to express my thoughts here since it's weighing on me a lot right now.

It's been a few months since the semester started, and I've been feeling depressed as I realized I don't have any real friends. I want to befriend my blockmates, but every time I try to talk or engage with them, it's awkward as they have their own groups already. I sometimes envy whenever they have lunch together or hang out with each other. I don't mind being alone but sometimes it stings.

I know people in organizations I'm part of, but it's superficial and we have conflicting schedules. I want to make a friend so bad, someone to eat lunch with, someone to study with, someone to be myself with. I feel like I have to put on a mask especially in this new environment and culture here in admu.

I know I'm still a freshie and there is so much time to make friends. But, it's been making me genuinely depressed as of late and lonely.

Misc. Newbie as ADMU Employee

Hello!

Hi! I’ll soon be joining Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) as a new employee, and since I’m from the province, I’m still getting familiar with the area. 😊

I’m hoping to connect with people who can share tips about ADMU, nearby places, and anything I should know as someone moving to Manila for the first time.

I’m also currently looking for a place to rent near the campus. If you know of any available apartments, rooms, or bed spaces, or can connect me with someone who does,

I’d really appreciate the lead!
Thank you so much! 💙

Misc. got sa'd, emotionally manipulated and infantalize by an atenean board member from a popular org (starts with m) NSFW

i don’t even know if this will ever get approved, but i just want to remind everyone to please never trust a guy solely because he has a good educational background, comes from a prestigious university, or has money.

honestly, it’s so hard for me to even open up about what happened, especially knowing that he’s from ateneo, comes from a wealthy family, and is already in his fourth year. meanwhile, i’m only 18, barely middle class, and living with diagnosed mental disorders. it’s intimidating to think about how different our circumstances are and how much harder it feels for someone like me to speak up.

sometimes, i can’t help but feel like i’ll never be able to tell my side of the story while someone like him gets to continue living his life, building his future, and enjoying all the privileges that come with his background, as if nothing ever happened. and that thought alone is exhausting.

i hate that being heard can feel so much harder when you’re a woman who already belongs to a marginalized sector. i hate that someone’s reputation, wealth, and educational background can make it even more difficult to speak about what happened to you.

i just wish things were different. no one should have to feel like their voice matters less simply because they have less power, money, or privilege than the person they’re trying to speak up about.

College life Thesis Group

Hello I’m a BSCS shiftee who shifted during 2nd year from Management and is about to take CSCI 199.1 (Thesis) Next sem. As of now, I don’t really have connections with the normal BSCS 2028 students and I’m struggling to find someone to work with for thesis as many of them already have made connections from orsem and did not share many classes with them earlier on. Is there anyone here from BSCS taking CSCI 199.1 next semester that needs someone. Will there potentially be a way to help people find groups? I don’t know if I can handle working alone. Appreciate any response. Thanks.

Announcement Last Day of Freshie and SOSS Rep elections

Today, October 16, is the last day of the voting period for the Freshman and 2nd RGLSOSS Special Elections. Exercise your right to vote, freshies and SOSS students! Poll stations are located at Zen Garden and SEC-C foyer, 9AM - 5PM. You may also cast your votes online.

To quote Mr. Gerry Lanuza, the school election is not a commodity that we can boycott. The lack of student participation hurts nobody else but the studentry itself. Boycotting only robs us of the opportunity to have our voices heard.

College life Vista 309 Renters

Hello to renters of Vista 309, especially to students! This is our first time renting sa condo. Three sisters who study and work along Katip. Machika kaming lahat and sometimes we become loud kapag nagtatawanan at naghaharutan. So, this is all about sound / noise:

  1. Kapag may nagkakantahan sa kabilang unit, as in birit, naririnig nyo ba? One of us kasi used to record and rehearse at home.

  2. Kapag may nagtatawanan at nagkekwentuhan, naririnig nyo ba?

  3. We plan to celebrate na lang the holidays here. Have you ever tried celebrating here like you sing karaoke thru your phones, or do you have experience hearing other units do this?

It will always be the three of us lang naman but we still want to know your experience and thoughts about the sounds and noise here. Thanks!

College life How many times can you retake a subject?

I might be at risk of failing one of my math courses for the second time and I think I may have to retake it on the next semester. Is there a limit to how many times a student can retake a specific subject? Thanks.

Misc. What are your thoughts on the food options on campus?

I'm currently writing a paper about campus food choices, specifically looking into the accessibility and overall quality of healthy food options in Ateneo.

While the university has official guidelines under the healthy cafeteria initiative, is it really easy to find truly healthy food on campus? Are there enough options for veggies, balanced macros, or specific dietary needs (vegan, vegetarian, etc.)? If it is easy, is it affordable?

Additionally, what are your go-to healthy spots inside campus? Or do you often have to go outside just to get a proper and healthier meal?
