Question Color selection conundrum

Post image

Thinking of starting this F/A-18F kit by Revell. The instructions suggest a two-tone paint job, darker on top. However, from the real reference images I have seen, it seems that over time the two grey tones more or less merge. How can I achieve this look at this scale? I have the greys as seen in the image. I will be priming everything in black from a Vallejo spray can. (First post 🎉)

Revell will still sell this tooling as '1/72.' I checked it against another 1/72 P-40 kit I have. I think it's closer to 1/70 (1/69th lol)

Vehicle Some more of my models to go with the M1A2

Post image

A couple of weeks ago I posted the M1A2 model I made. Thought I'd post some of the others as well.

First model I made this year was the M3 Bradley, the first I've made since 2011.

Then made a couple of brdm's (not pictured), the Marder, a T72 (also not pictured) and then the Leopard 2a4.

I didn't have NATO camo paints when I did the Bradley and Marder, so had to use the Vallejo fantasy paints I had to make the green, probably a bit too green to be honest.

They are all hand painted as well, don't have an airbrush, and my hands aren't as steady as they used to be.

Still after not making anything for years, very happy with how they've all turned out.

Model bug has bitten me again, with some more to come.

FE2B-scratch build

Hello all first time post here. I want to build an 1/72 scale FE2B for use in a wargame. I cant find a model kit and I dont have a 3D printer available think I might scratch build. Any suggestions on how I might build the cockpit/bathtub?

Figures Looking for figure in boilersuits

I'm looking for suitable figures in boilersuits to represent Canadian Royal Engineers during WWII.

The figures themselves do not need to be soldiers, as I can head-swap with heads that have hemets on.

The figures do not even need to be in any sort of dymanic pose, as the reference photo I have is of three guys leaning against a Bailey bridge.

While it isn't the neatest paint job around due to hand painting it with the terrible Revell paint that came with the kit, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Also, yes the tank number is in the wrong place, but I really liked the a2 version of the kit.

I've only just gotten back into making models, this is now my 7th I've made this year.

Previous to these I last made a 1/72 Sopwith Camel in 2011, and before that my last kit was built in the late 90's.
