Luckily I replaced mine in time, the ends were stuck inside the rubber hose and needed to be fished out. 2nd photo is my setup in case anyone thinks you need to drain your coolant, you just need to clamp your hoses off.

Appreciate everyone’s part out inquiries (Google form here). We received a good amount and tried to tackle them as best as possible. I answered the emails while Kaleb tried to answer texts and get photos of specific parts. For those that have gone unanswered, we haven’t forgotten and are still keeping tabs on requested parts.

We’re learning along the way. A lot of you have 4X4 manuals, which we haven’t come across before, which is cool. It’s great to see all the different colors out there, too. Interior colors pose a challenge because we find that there are several shades of grey amongst the years within the 3rd gens. We were able to ship out a few smaller parts (ICM, sunroof motor). Shipping larger parts is a challenge because we want to locate parts while still considering pricing. We even got a forklift to make things easier.

For those that want to do a local pickup, we think it’s best you come visit 4RunnerFarms in Perris! It really is the best way to see exactly what you need. Doesn’t hurt that you can adventure around the nearby dirt roads. Please message for info.

sitting at 341k, my power steering has been acting up. after some troubleshooting and research, Ive determined it might be time to replace the rack and pinion. im working on a tight budget and the local salvage yard is charging me $150 for this rack off of a 2004 tacoma. should i make it work? any pointers on something reliable and cost effective thats aftermarket or should i dump the money into oem? thanks yall.

Hi guys I am from toronto and getting ready to sell my 3rd Gen 4Runner. I thought I would post here first. It has 460,000km and been in my family since it was purchased, was my daily driver for the past 3 years. Timing belt & water pump done at 370km(3rd time). Trans rebuilt at 390km(pink milkshake). Oil changes every 5,000for the life of the engine. Valve cover gasket leaking. It will need a new exhaust, there is a leaking rear axle seal, and just recently the upper bracket for the rear upper control arm broke.

Does anyone have pictures of these lights on a 4runner. And what kind of mods and gear should i add. I'm wanting it as a camping/hunting vehicle. I have a 3 inch suspension lift and a bumper with a winch.

Hello, I recently replaced my battery on my 2002 sr5 factory 3rd gen and was meet with the inability to start the vehicle. Before I replaced the battery I had a parasitic drain on the previous battery that would cause me to need a jumpstart the vehicle every time I used it( i know, lazy way out but I work out of state and only use it when I was home couple days a month). Before I replaced the battery, I had issues with the security system as it would trigger every time I started it, jumped the battery or opened the door. Which I would disable by unlocking the driver door externally( i don’t have a key fob just a regular factory key) and this seemed to work for a while. This got progressively worse and eventually I couldn’t even drive the vehicle without the alarm going off as I drove. My solution to this was to unplug the wiring harness from the security box underneath the steering column. Not sure if this helps to mention, but this all stemmed from me replacing a battery for the first time ever after buying it after the vehicle died on me while driving. Come to present day I go to jump. The vehicle vehicle won’t turn on. I go out to replace the battery and the car turns on but won’t start( tho I can hear the starter try to engage repeatedly). Almost positive after checking the fuses in battery terminals that it is in fact the security system. So far I have attempted to valet reset, looked for a switch/button, disconnected the battery terminals for 10mins. Every trick I could look for online through forums, I’ve attempted to no avail. I also replaced my alternator about six months ago and had an experience. Any issues up until now( besides needing to jump the vehicle every other time about a month after installing it). I am able to disable the alarm by using the same method of unlocking the car door, but will not start.

Everything g was going smooth til I started torquing the mounting bolts … that was my first mistake thinking everything was going smooth

So upon startup of my 2001 4runner SR5 4WD as of lately there have been some weird sounds. i believe it has to do with the break system because of the break lights that sometimes come on for 30ish seconds when i turn on the car but im not 100% sure which part needs to be replaced. the sounds from these videos only happen when i start up my 4runner in the mornings and then go away after a little bit but its been happening for a little longer. i know i shouldnt be driving on this but i need to to get to work and i dont want to be scammed by another mechanic. ive replaced my ignition coils and spark plugs before but other than that im not super mechanically skilled. i read that this could either be the break booster or abs pump but i dont know the difference and really wanna narrow it down and know if its a doable job for the average person once i get the part. other than the sounds the breaks feel completely normal and work as usual, just concerned theyre gonna randomly give out or something so wanna act asap.

I’m looking to add my crossbars onto my roof rails which requires removing this sealant to reveal the torx screw underneath. Was wodnering what type of sealant/ rubber gasket you guys reccomend that would be easiest/best to reapply when i reinstall the torx screw. (Or if any seal is even needed?)

Having a very specific problem and I cant track it down to the point im about to send it to toyota to find the problem

1999 2wd limited recently (july) did an engine swap to another 3.4L with lower miles (from 310k to104k) re sealed gasket everything truck runs fine drives fine starts fine

ONLY ISSUE after hitting operating temps 190-205 it'll just randomly drop rpm to 500 or lower and just stall the engine ONLY AT STOPLIGHTS OR STOPSIGHNS just drove 3 hours not a single issue. Its super hard to track down because it only happens when it wants to

Checked for air leaks with brake clean while running literally drowned it and didnt hear or notice a single change

I have the rear pinion seal and was going to replace it but looking at the leak I’d expect the seal to leak further back / behind the flange.

One of the bolts wasn’t torqued to spec, could’ve that been it?
