This is a wargaming-scale version, printed at just 50% of the original size. The plan: black primer, white drybrush, and contrast paints. I'm really curious to see how it turns out, and I'll be back with the results soon!

Crowdfunding I’m developing a browser editor for printable buildings. Here are four printed examples

For a building on a gaming table, I want to be able to get at the rooms inside. PrintHaus lets you choose removable roofs and floors, while the floor plan and the height of each storey can be adjusted to suit the building you have in mind.

I’m Sebastian, and I’m developing the app on my own. It runs in a browser and turns your building design into parts you can export and print. The photos show actual prints of a half-timbered house, a defence tower, an English manor house and a factory hall. These examples are H0 (1:87). The editor also supports 1:56 for 28 mm terrain.

You can place doors and windows to suit the layout, choose the roof and work on the facade. Timber framing, stone quoins and cornices give the buildings their character. Surface details such as brickwork and roof tiles are printed relief.

Registration at printhaus.app is free and includes one free test export, so you can design a building of your own and try printing it.

If you’d prefer to try one of these examples, all four are free on MakerWorld:

There’s a full app description in English (PDF) for the other design options. I’m also preparing the Kickstarter campaign, and you can follow PrintHaus here for the launch notification.

For your gaming table, what matters most when you’re designing the inside of a building?

Showcase The Cat & Fiddle: a 3D-printable, half-timbered tavern scanned from a hand-sculpted original

This is The Cat & Fiddle, a medieval tavern by Dexter, hand-sculpted for 28mm miniatures. I scanned his original and printed it, and Dexter painted the print.

It prints in three modular pieces, so you can play inside both levels: a ground floor, an upper floor and a thatched roof. The details include layered thatch, half-timbered walls, a stone base and a hand-lettered hanging sign.

Printed at scale on a Bambu Lab A1 in PLA. Sized for 28mm.

The STL is available here : 3D Printable Tavern by The Plunder Den

Happy to answer questions about the scanning, printing or painting, and I’ll pass painting questions on to Dexter.

We launch Wednesday but if you follow before then you’ll get a cool $10 dollars off which will give you the opportunity to get over 100 professionally hand sculpted and scanned STLs for under $100.

I printed off Print Mini's board tiles in PLA, they came out great!

For anyone looking for the STL's
https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-the-foundation-risor-district-for-our-floor-tiles-666682

I've been slowly building out my Necromunda table and finally finished the floor.

I used the Foundation/Risor District system from Print Minis and printed enough tiles for a "full board." Material cost was roughly $40 in PLA and about a week of print noises, which... is a hell of a lot easier to swallow than buying enough official Zone Mortalis tiles....if you already own the printer

A couple things I learned the annoying way:

  • the little magnets aren’t really strong enough to matter once the tiles are assembled, save yourself the headache of trying to magnatize them
  • printing extra clips is a good idea because a few will absolutely snap during assembly
  • DO NOT skip varnish before doing an oil wash unless you enjoy watching mineral spirits eat your paint
  • It's PLA so it takes super well to cheap homedepot primers

Pretty happy with how it came together, especially once some minis and terrain are sitting on it.

Curious how other people have handled their Necromunda floors also official tiles, printed tiles, MDF, scratch-built I've seen so much cool stuff in this sub that's super inspiring with all the scratch builds

HOPEFULLY if anyones been on the fence about these tiles it can give you a better idea of what to expect!

Request Basic Sci-Fi Buildings

I've been looking for a solid set of basic Sci-Fi buildings for games like 5 Parsecs and Stargrave. Everything I've found tends to lean very heavily into the 40k gothic styling. I would just like to have a basic set of residential type buildings that I can arrange on a table for quick Sci-fi skirmish games. Bonus points if they're stackable or modifiable.

Any suggestions?
