Skin Concern If you work a regular 9 to 5 weekday schedule. What day is the best day to schedule a chemical peel?
Don’t want to see anyone if I’m shedding

We mods really, really appreciate it when you report stuff that breaks our rules. Any full face, direct photo with or without makeup is a selfie and can only be posted on Sundays. Edited pics, non-full face pics, crossed out creepy eyeball pics etc. are all FINE if they are there to show the issue you are talking about. Basically, if someone could steal the photo and use it on social media (even if the OP thinks they look awful and aren't making a cute face or wearing makeup), you can only post it on Sunday because that's what we consider a selfie.
It would help us a LOT if people stop reporting every photo of a human, no matter how edited, as a selfie violation. Thanks to everyone who helps us keep an eye on these things, and keep on reporting actual selfies!

Basically what’s in the title. I paid a lot to get an ablative CO2 treatment next month, face and neck. I feel scared but am desperate to feel better about aging. I already get facials once every two months and did micro needling. I KNOW I am crazy, but will this CO2 cause irreversible damage?
Should I just ask if I can change my treatments to something else? I really dislike hollowness under eyes and want filler but also scared. Okay thanks for being supportive, I’m a sensitive baby.

I genuinely thought getting older would mean fewer skin problems but apparently not 😭
Now I'm dealing with occasional adult acne, uneven texture and skin that somehow gets v oilyesp on my t zone
I'm trying to stop buying 15 products and just get the basics right first. Cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen.
For cleanser I'm currently using cerave foaming one but for the rest im still searching, do those collagen stuff actually work

Do you all have recommendations for products for my eyes? My eyelids are very textured. I’m wearing powder eyeshadow, but it’s noticeable even when I’m not. Please help

I’m at a loss with my skin. I had a horrible reaction after using the RHODE barrier balm from Sephora paired with the L’Oréal true match concealer since I didn’t use foundation before this. My skin hasn’t been this bad since last year when I was horribly stressed out. I had deep painful pimples on my left side of my face, they are mostly flat now but the pigment is still super visible as you can see. I’ve been trying not to wear makeup until my skin calms down but it’s so hard and I’m honestly just avoiding going anywhere. I’m only down to the basics now, just face wash and sunscreen in the AM.
I really want to look into pico laser + clear and brilliant for my brown spots and melasma but I’ve heard it can make it come back worse if you aren’t consistent with a routine and treatments to keep it managed. I’ve also heard that chemical peels are the way to go… but to avoid IPL, BBL, and co2 laser. I don’t mind being pale anymore. I just want to fix my skin. I feel so discouraged and sad. I’m trying not to stress and not worry about it… but it is so hard with these spots all over my face that just feel like they are getting darker.
As far as treatments go, in the past I’ve done microneedling and moxi laser and loved the results from both of those. I recently did sculptra at the end of September for hollowness and volume loss in my face after losing weight. For products, i have used the alastin a-luminate brightening serum and I definitely noticed a difference from using it. So I want to purchase again. But I’m not using any tretinoin, retinol, mandelic acid, glycolic acid, or azeliac acid. I’ve heard good things about all of them but I don’t know where to start. I feel discouraged. Any insight, treatment recs, or product recs would be incredibly appreciated.

I'm 33, I've lost 50 lbs over the last two years and losing about 20-30 more. My neck looks like it has aged a lot with the weight loss. Is there any skincare or laser procedure that will fix this, or surgery only?

Since my last post was removed let’s say I am 30 years old.
I was using retinol form Paula’s choice for a while and liked the results with the “chicken skin” I have under my eyes (visible sebaceous glands). however, my pores were still quite large and I deal with clogged pores and sebaceous filaments. Ive noticed that under my eyes are not nearly as clear or smooth as it was with retinol, and I haven’t notice much of a difference after applying tret .025 daily for 6 months. I recently was boosted to .05 and now I feel like that may be too much because I still don’t notice a difference and im really not happy with my skin. im not sure what to do or if maybe tretinoin is too strong for me. please help!

I’m looking for a little tone up before the holidays, early last year Ultherapy yielded lovely results for me, but they are starting to wear off a bit.
I found a $1999 package for Sofwave, LaseMD, DiamondGlow facial, and LDM. My concerns are jowling/pre jowl sulcus, just that shadow between the corner of my mouth and chin.
Would love some personal experiences!
Current routine is SPF religiously, red light, tret, lots of water, heavy moisturizers etc

I’ve tried retinol twice and quit both times because the peeling was insane. I’m looking at Typology’s retinol serum and The Ordinary 0.2% in squalane, but can’t decide which to try. Typology doesn’t list the percentage, which is annoying. I’m 33, have combination skin, and am starting to notice fine lines around my eyes. Has anyone tried either? How did it go?

I’ve used all the common moisturizers like Cerave, Cetaphil, Vanicream etc. and they all gave me rashes.
I visited a dermatologist and they were no help and I don’t know where to go from here
I have a very dry and red face

I feel like these have gotten more predominant with age, and harder to cover with makeup. Are there any at-home treatments or products that would be helpful in reducing them?
I never really had acne on my cheeks, so they aren’t scars or from squeezing pimples. I remember my grandmother had them, but my mom does all the microderm/laser/medspa treatments so she does not. I don’t have medspa money, help!

Help! This seemed to come out of nowhere. Honestly, it feels like it happened after I started using tret on my neck.
Weight hasn’t fluctuated at all for years (and max 10lbs). Maybe slightly underweight.
Is there anything I can do?!

I’ve tried micro needling, lasers, tret and almost every high end and low end moisturizer. Nothing is working. I’m in an endless cycle of tret because all moisturizers break me out. Pretty sure I’m allergic to hyaluronic acid. A few months ago my skin was burned by microneedling and it’s finally returned to normal. I get neolaser at my derm for acne prone skin. I’m sure it’s helped and now I have red light mask at home. How can I improve my skin texture?

If you’ve gotten sculptra and are a couple of months or sessions in - I’d love to see your before and after. Please mention age too!

I recently had three rounds of BBL with some improvement, but two stubborn hyperpigmentation spots remained (photos attached). My clinic kindly offered two complimentary spot treatments.
The first didn't do much, but when I returned two weeks later, she did both a vascular (redness) pass and a pigmentation pass at a slightly higher setting. Almost immediately, both spots turned dark purple.
NOTE: The photo above is day three (It hasn't changed in 72 hours).
Initially, she thought it was bruising, but the doctor reviewed my photos the next day and said it looked like a superficial burn that should heal on its own.
I have a follow-up call today, but I've been so stressed all weekend. I'm terrified the purple marks won't fade or that I'll end up with worse pigmentation than before.
Has anyone experienced anything similar after BBL? Did your skin eventually heal and return to normal?
I'd really appreciate any experiences or advice!

Hi all, I am 43 and have been using Augustinus Bader the cream for years. It is so $$$. I also use so many other products —serums and actives— I’m thinking it might not be necessary to get the $400 night cream.
I would appreciate recommendations for a great night cream. Must be non comedogenic.
Thank you !

Every day I see questions - what is this with my neck? This is not tendon or skin problem. It is a muscles called Platysma (2nd image). Its located between collarbone, chest and mandible. Actions of this muscles are - depressing lower lip and depressing angle of mouth. When the entire platysma muscle is in action, it produces a slight wrinkling of the surface of the skin (4th image).
Normally its very smooth and thin muscle, but with overuse it can create thick muscle strings. Overuse can be frequent facial expressions that activate this muscle, weight lifting, chewing. Also, muscle can separate and its called Platysma plication. The muscle separates and you can see very prominent vertical bands with a valley in between.
Test - activate this muscle by pulling lower lip down with force. Put your hand on the neck to feel activation of Platysma. Then notice during the day, do you use facial expressions that activated it or do you activate it during talking.
What to do?
Skincare is not helpful, because its a defect under the skin.
There is surgical method - platysmaplasty, that tightens, repositions, or supports the platysma muscle in the neck to eliminate vertical bands, improve jawline definition.
Non surgical method is massage (last image). Take this string between fingers and notice, does the tissue feel same as in places with no strings? Test the whole muscle and notice painful or tender regions, regions that feels smooth or hard. In the painful and harder regions you can perform massage - rub muscle between fingers for a 30sek - 1 minute. Maybe you will feel how tissues become softer and less painful. It will improve blood flow and regular massage can slowly regenerate muscle. If you don't have visible strings on the neck yet, but you feel tender and harder regions, that the potential for strings to develop. Note that its very superficial muscle, right beneth the skin and moves easely with the skin. Don't go deeper to neck skeletal muscles. It should feel like massage of the skin.
So next time when somebody asks , say - its platysma!

Hi girls,
For anyone that did a BBL laser did you like it? How many sessions did you do? Did you see good results from the first session? I basically just did 1 session its been 2 weeks and a half and I'm super underwhelmed by the results, do the results take longer? He said he would go higher with the settings next time but I'm hesitant to go for a second session when the first one gave almost no results?
thanks!

I love the Biodance collagen mask. The first time I used it, I didn’t know I was meant to use a serum or something underneath and it still worked nicely. The following times, I used my Heritage rosewater and glycerin spray.
What else could I try underneath? Laneige cream skin? Purito centella?

I’m only 43 and have started noticing pretty intense skin laxity in my neck this year. Not to brag but my face looks pretty good!! I am concerned this is beyond normal aging. Any ideas for what’s causing this or anyone been able to reverse it?

After a late night working at my computer I have bags under my eyes the next day… I want to keep my routine simple and affordable and am not looking for a bunch of different products that I only use occasionally. Maskiss 24k gold under eye patches came up when I was searching for options… I am wondering if you find that under eye patches in the morning are really worth it? Obviously it will not replace sleep - but looking for something easy to fit into a routine when I am having a tough morning. What have you found that is worth keeping in your routine? Thanks!
